It is a view point of this city. The entrance fee is 30 RM roundtrip . The top has a very beautiful view. And there is a great botanical garden. There are trees, flowers that are rare to see. The weather is good, 15 degrees, the height is 800 meters.

It’s so kitschy and so touristy but this is one way to enjoy the overview of Georgetown. Temperatures here are also a delightful treat after the humidity of the lowlands. The funicular train also adds to the excitement of ascending and descending this place. Do hire a buggy at MYR 30 per head to explore the place expediently. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature with a few surprises from monkeys and giant squirrels.

Went in at 9am in the morning on Friday, there was a small crowd waiting for the rail already. Managed to get on the second rail, and the ride up took <5minutes. There weren’t many people in the morning, thus, quite enjoyable to sightsee. It got crowded at 12+pm, and we were about to leave… The queue for the rail got crowded.! Good to go in the morning to avoid the crowd!

Super touristy place to visit but worth doing if you're here in Penang. I recommend the pass otherwise you'll be waiting in line a long time to go up OR down. The extra 10 ringgit allows you to skip the line. If you like to walk, at the top I suggest checking out ask the trails. You can of course walk down the mountain. It takes about 2 hours. If you don't like walking so much, you can hire a little car to drive you around or to the coffee shop at the end of a road. It comes with a ride back too. We decided instead to walk back so we could stop and take pictures. Totally worth it. The earlier you come the better the experience will be. Less lines, less tourists, less heat.

⚠️2 hours to wait in a huge queue even in weekdays to go up and down the hill if you didn't buy the fast pass. Buy the fast pass and it's only 10min to wait... MUCH FASTER! Train ride was fun, view was nice, you can walk around a bit. Didn't love it but seems like a thing to do in Penang.

Very long queue to purchase the funicular ticket and also wait for the funicular during weekends. The 2 ways ticket is rm12/adult. Nice view at the top with cooling temperature.

It is a beautiful small hill where you can see the whole city view. The jeep service can take you on 700M on top of the hill where you can find Hindu temple and a bunch of other stores.

We left our hotel very early in the morning to catch the bus to Penang Hill. It took us about an hour or so. When we arrived we had the option of taking the train or walking. We chose to walk and enjoy the scenery. Personally I underestimated how long it would take us and how far it was but all in all it was great way to spend the day walking up to the hill and checking out different things along the way. We made plenty of stops along the way and took our time. the views were amazing the further you got up the hill. When we reached the top of the hill we walked around the temple and checked out what was around. A lot of things you had to pay for so we just decided to walk around and see what was up there. If you plan to walk up I would defiantly recommend going for when it opens as it's cooler and less humid. Once the sun comes out it gets scorching hot. Once we were finished walking around the top of the hill we decided to walk back down but the other side where there was a garden with lots of birds and many monkeys. The walk down was 7km and all down hill. Our legs were like Jell-O but it was a nice walk.

One of the popular tourist attraction is Penang. Located near Georgetown. Easy to find and public parking available here for a fee. I visited recentlly on a weekend. It was very crowded and waiting time for Furnicular train/Tram was almost more than an hour. Tickets can be bought at the counter for 1 or 2 way to/from the Penang hill. There is a food court up there and also a buggy service for visitors to tour the hill area for a fee. There are attractions such as Tge Habitat, Old and historical buildings, a Coffee shop and a Museum etc. Best thing to witbess is beatifull views of Georgetown and other nearby Islands. Management should take a note that there was no physical distancing in the Furnicular train.

We bought the fast lane tickets for trains. But since the school holidays, many queued. The view was amazing, the food up there was delicious and there are many beautiful views from the top of the hill. But overall, we enjoyed our trip here. Worth every penny. Will definitely be back again.

Unfortunately the viewing deck was under construction when I visited. There are some nice spots where you still can enjoy a good view from the hill. If you visit this place during a workday or Sunday there most probably won’t be any queues. If the weather is clear, during sunset the views should be very nice. Also, you can find some very pretty monkeys there. If you are in Penang definitely recommend.

Amazing and unique experience for my entire family. Spent a wonderful time at top most, natural, scenic and historic place of Penang.

We came here on a Monday late morning around 10 am. It was not crowded and brisk getting the standard ticket, and up we go to the top of Penang Hill. There were quite a lot of tourist attractions at the top of the hill. We choose to do the Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk. It cost around MYR 60 Per Adult. It was a great walk for city folk with nice scenery. Alternatively, a family of five can hop on bungee ride for MYR 30. We suggest to avoid weekend and local public holidays as we heard it is usually crowded.

Good site to seeing the landscape of Penang from the hill. Ticket entrance is 30RM for non-Malaysian citizenship (adult). Prepare for the long queue on the weekend.

The train ride was pretty fun. But some great photo spots were closed at that time. Could have been a better experience if it was open...

Enjoyed the view from Penang Hill. We took a car truck up the hill to avoid the weekend rush. It costed us 160 RM to and fro. We had a chill walk at the hill and enjoyed the view and walk. Lot of options to eat and click pictures.

Beautiful. Cable car rate was around 20-25RM, we paid additional entry fee to enter the habitat (opens at 9am). We went early morning so really enjoyed the view and ambience.

A boring place honestly, in the top messy place and nothing to do , there is no activities no something enjoyable! Just messy place, I wish the management to improve it by making some activities and by managing the place and clean it !! To be honest the only amazing things is the tram 🙂, even it was fully of people so you cannot see anything. 😅

Penang has a very good hiking trail. From bottom of the hill to top you need to use about 2-3 hours. You can use the mid station if you feel tired on the halfway. You can buy the return ticket before you start hiking preferably before 830am to get the half price discount. There is also nice food and red bean ice to enjoy on the hill.

Ride the train is fun and 2 way ride cost Rm12 per person, elderly Rm6. The air up there is cold and comfort. Can ride buggy (max5person) for RM30 if you don’t feel to walk too far.

Excellent place to visit when in Penang, Malaysia. The funicular train takes us from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill. It is a very good experience, almost like a roller coaster. The views from the top of the hill are amazing and the best time to go to this place would be at the time of sunset perhaps. Plan this one carefully. The tickets, the time of the day, etc.

was really crowded....recommend to buy the Fast Lane ticket esp over the weekend as I suspect it gets really, really crowded then...... we had a great time observing the flora and fauna...... the view of the city from up there....we also loved the cooler air up there .....

Went on a Monday at 8.30 am. It was also during Ramadan. Queue was short at that time. Waited 15 minutes. We got the standard ticket online, didn't pay for the express. Some food and drink stalls at the top station were open as shown in the photo. Drinks about 8 Ringgit each. We asked at the information booth just outside the top station about the places to go and directions cos we couldn't make it out from the map provided. They were helpful. It was reasonably cool in the shade and there was quite a bit of shade along the main 2km path but quite hot in the sun. When we got to the Monkey Cup, we were too tired and hot to walk back uphill. Fortunately, we could take one of the buggys back up for 15 Ringgit. We didn't go into the Habitat.

A great place to overlook the city. Only the queue is crazy. I highly suggest you to just purchase the express ticket. Unfortunately you still have to purchase the entrance ticket for some spots.

Beautiful view and nature once you are up the hill, but here all good things end. I don’t mind the crowds during holidays if it’s the only time to see something, but some outright bad things are: 1) Waiting- you have to buy a ticket and are told to wait for almost 2 hours to go up the funicular. In reality you spend 2,5+ hours in a queue and waiting. 2) Tickets are sold by “batches” with numbers. Once it’s your batch time, you proceed to the boarding queue. Waiting patiently in line only to be mixed in the end with all other people so that people with batch numbers bought after you end up in front of you instead. For example, our number was 45 but there were 46 and 47 people in front of us. 3) No huts/shelters from the rain. It rains sometimes, hard, and you simply have nowplace to wait it out. 4) Return queue: when you come totally soaked to go down, you are told to wait another 2 hours or buy express lane tickets 3 times more expensive than usual ones. And in the end, both express and usual waiting people just mix and gash in into the crowded cabins. All in all, worst mountain funicular organization out of all countries I ever encountered. Langkawi Sky Bridge is a good comparison- same country, much better queqe handling.

Great day out. The vehicular train was a good price and very fun. Amazing views from the top and a good way to spend a few hours. You will queue for a little while for the train up but it's better than walking up 😂

Penang Hill is a great escape from the busy streets of Georgetown. The funicular railway ride to the top is a fun experience in itself, offering stunning views as you climb. Once at the summit, you're rewarded with fresh air, rainforests trails, and a breathtaking panorama of Penang Island. Whether you seek relaxation or light adventure, Penang Hill offers something for everyone. Just beware of potentially long queues, especially during peak hours.

This is a great place to enjoy the cool breeze and beautiful views. I am really enjoyed it. I am followed the tour guide. The tour guide explained the place really well. I am understand everything. When I am entered, the queue was full with people. It was really crowded. I felt very unfair to them because they had to wait. I am waiting for the funicular train to arrive. After a while, the train came. According to the website, the train can transport 800 passengers per hour. The train came up really fast. I could feel the cool breeze hitting me as I stepped out of the train. I am taking some photos. I went to Astaka Bukit Bendera. Taking pictures is my favourite. I went for a ride, up and down, and it was quite chilling. One lesson I learned is don't try to offend, when they take you to the end (I guess the end over there because I saw a coffee shop) they ask you do you want to have coffee here? Say yes if you have time, say no if you don't because they will leave you there. I am having a great time here. Really had a great time. The view is superb. I will come here again alone in the future.

The funicular ride was interesting but make sure you stand closer to a window, so that you won't miss the view! You can get a nice view of the whole city and the sea from the top of the mountain. We also went on a buggy ride. Traveling on holidays will be a bit uncomfortable if you are not the type of person to wait in queues for around 1 - 2 hours.

The Peranakan Mansion was full of history and you can feel it once you step into the place. We went for a guided English tour where the guide told us about the rich story behind this place. You can easily immerse yourself here for hours, the mansion is huge. You need to take off your shoes for the 2nd floor so I would recommend wearing socks.

Visited the mansion in the afternoon. We reached the mansion pretty late so it was near closing time. However, we made it for the last tour of the day (English version). The tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable about the history and architecture of the mansion. He showed us and explained to us interesting facts and trivia about various designs and purposes. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Beautiful and well-preserved old architecture and furniture. I didn't join the guided tour which happens at certain time slots. I brought my grandparents here and they love it. So many rooms and things to marvel at. Lots of places to rest and sit. Photo spots at every corner. The gift shop in the museum is lovely as well. We visited right when the museum opened at 10am and did not need to queue to enter.

Beautiful space - breath-taking and a real joy to visit. The RM20 entry fee is well worth it - it's beautifully maintained and a delight to wander in. I particularly enjoyed the central courtyard and the different tiles throughout the premises, as well as the ancestral hall and the paintings. The pictures don't do it justice - I highly highly recommend you come visit.

Highly recommend a visit to this mansion and join a group with a guide in the museum that is included in the entrance ticket available in Mandarin and English. So rich in history and also gives a good visual representation of what it was like in Penang in the past. The links with China and also England, and also trade with European nations are seen in the objects and design of the mansion. Good to go a little earlier in the day as after the guided tour, there’s time to go around to take more photos and have a closer look at the extensive collections of antiques that tell their stories.

Really interesting place and the man who gave us the guided tour was great. It was pretty busy with large groups of Chinese and people having photo shoots. WARNING- you cannot pay by card if you are paying for one person admission!

Beautiful mansion with a lot of interesting artifacts and a hearty guide (we had an elderly gentleman) who really has pride and insight into the rich memory of the place. Also guests are allowed to touch almost everything and sit on all antique chairs and sofas, which brings a live spirit to the music rather than a stale atmosphere of dust of usual museums. Great dive into history of local populace and their adventures!

The owner did a good job at refurbishing and preserving a piece of important history ! The collection was amazing. I’m really glad that I visited this place, as I finally got to see how it looks inside of a heritage building. I’m still in awe of how rich the Peranakan culture is (and also how loaded someone could be). Throughout the guided tour, it’s apparent that some riches are just unattainable 😂 Out of reach for peasants like us… Mr. Stanley was an amazing guide to us - an amazing storyteller. The storytelling was so vivid that you’ll feel as if you’ve travelled time. I’m pretty sure he’d repeated it so many times but his enthusiasm was palpable - through the clap of his hands. Loved it. Highly recommend.

The tour guide in English was so nice and funny! Sometimes, the accent was difficult to follow as he was wearing a face cover/mask. The house is huge and lots to explore in one hour. Definitely recommend doing the free tour. Otherwise, it's hard to appreciate! What I liked most is the fact that you can sit and touch almost everything, unlike other museums. You can also go in and out as you wish all day. I highly recommend visiting. Bonus points as King Charles and Queen Consort Camila visited a few years ago, and they also do movie scenes there like Crazy Rich Asians!

One of the things I enjoyed the most in Georgetown. The entry ticket is only 5 dollars, but it's a great value because there's a one hour guided tour in English every 30 mins. Our tour guide was a very funny Chinese gentleman who took his time to explain to us the history of the mansion in an interesting way and show us every single room. The mansion has many collectibles and rare artifacts from over 200 years ago, some of them are considered priceless. I totally recommend to add visiting this mansion to your itinerary and get the chance to immerse into it's treasures

I think it's fairly an old hotel from the way it looks inside. Neat and tidy though. All amenities are available and the standard room is a good sized one. It's centrally located and near a shopping mall. There is also a moderate sized swimming pool and gym. Good for a family stay. There are many small departmental stores nearby so it's convenient if u need any quick eats or drinks. Lots of street foods just a few minutes walk away. The front desk staff are very courteous and there is also a large spacious cafe in the lobby area. Would love to come back again.

English guide tour started at 130pm on a Monday when I visited, but I think honestly that you could show up anytime and there will be a tour you can catch with just a bit of a wait. There is an upstairs section where no shoes are allowed which isn’t covered by the tour, so that could be a good way to fill time. Bring cash to pay for your ticket (25 ringgit) if you’re in a small group. I did see card payment accepted but for a tour group of 17 people. If the blue mansion is the immaculately adorned Nyonya without a single hair out of place, this is the fun sister with a reputation for the best gossip. Walking through this place felt like visiting family. If you need to sit for a break, I recommend the jewelry section as it’s one of the few air conditioned spots.

The mansion has least view from outside. But within ,it has some exquisite collections of the royal family holdings. The place is well maintained and beautifully arranged. There is an entrance fee of RM 50, but there is lots to see and you can spend around 1 hr seeing the displays. At 1.30pm,there is a guide tour also .The staffs are helpful and there are lots of photogenic items. Inhouse stores are also there for buying souvenirs

It's a really historical mansion, with many interesting things to know about! However the ventilation situation really isn't the best... Yes there are standing fans to help blow air, but in most of the mansion, it's really hot and not a lot of fresh air flowing in. Also you need to take off your shoes if you want to explore up to the 2nd level as well (but the things are really interesting!) there's also a tour where your tour guide will tell you more information about the mansion.

Pinang Peranakan Mansion: A Glimpse into the Past, But Not Without Quirks The Pinang Peranakan Mansion offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich heritage of Penang's Peranakan culture. The 45-minute guided tour, led by an excellent, comedic guide (kudos to them!), was informative and engaging, bringing the history of the mansion and its inhabitants to life. However, the experience is a bit uneven. The mansion itself boasts some truly stunning rooms, showcasing exquisite Peranakan furniture, intricate tilework, and beautiful textiles. These sections truly transport you back in time. On the other hand, some rooms felt a bit average, with displays that weren't quite as captivating. Another curious feature is the rather large on-site restaurant. While it might be convenient for grabbing a bite after the tour, its presence felt a bit out of place nestled within the historic mansion. The gift shop also left me scratching my head. While Peranakan souvenirs are expected, the inclusion of generic items like Marvel character keychains felt jarringly out of place. Customer Service is not their greatest strength. Even when buying tickets. They’re reluctant to accept card payments. Was told originally ‘Cash Only’ and has to be more than 100 Ringgit, which doesn’t make any sense. Eventually a card reader is shown and card payments are accepted, when I’d just paid 50 Ringgit. The person selling tickets also has a negative attitude and was very unprofessional. There’s also the slight issue of the sticker to wear to show you’ve paid for your ticket. I told them I’ll place the sticker, where I want it to be, not to be dictated. You have time slots for either an English or Chinese tour guide. Overall, the Pinang Peranakan Mansion is worth a visit, especially if you're interested in Penang's cultural heritage. Just be prepared for a mixed bag – breathtaking rooms and historical insights alongside some slightly odd additions. Getting there is easy. You can hail a Grab taxi or, if you're feeling adventurous and the Penang heat isn't too oppressive, it's definitely walkable.

Very informative FREE guided tour (Thanks to the very knowledgeable tour guide - Stanley) We lean so much about the Peranakan culture. Well preserved and maintain mansion. It’s worth visiting if you’re in George Town. At the time of visiting, entrance fee is RM 25.

Very beautiful! They have english/chinese tours every 30 minutes (though the chinese tours are only every hour or so, I believe). If you're bilingual, I recommend the Chinese tour because it's more in-depth, at least based on what I overheard. Though the English guide is also very friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable.

An opulent, well-maintained and magnificent looking Peranakan house, both exterior and interior, with history and heritage. Many interesting items on display. There are guided tours conducted in English or Mandarin during certain time slots. When I went there, there were many visitors but not much of a queue. Staff are welcoming and friendly.

This is one of the must visit places when in Penang. It's a historical house that a rich Chinese businessman had built in the late 1800s early 1900s. The businessman was so rich that he also built a Chinese Temple next door, as well as a separate museum, with a dining room and kitchen buildings at the rear. A lovely mansion that is well furnished with beautiful furnishings, and easily takes you back to yesteryear. The Temple, museum and the kitchen are also worth visiting and are all included in the one entry price of 25RM as at Oct 2023. I visited during the off-peak season and it was somewhat busy, but in peak season it could possibly be crowded. The buildings are air-conditioned and this makes for an excellent atmosphere and encourages taking the time to view all that is on display. Allow between 1-3 hours to see everything depending on how much time you wish to spend taking in the great experience and looking at all the wonderful features, details and displays. The history of how he made his fortune, including tin mining, is also interesting and worth reading about. Excellent attraction. Enjoy.

Worthwhile visit if you're in Penang and can spend a few hours wandering around the museum. Found it really interesting to see how the rich Chinese lived during the time.

This is a very nice old jetty with a fantastic view. The wooden path to the jetty is rickety but stable. There are some shops selling locally made souvenirs. The view from the jetty of the harbour and fishing boats is pleasant. Nice place to go.

Lovely walk down a narrow pier where you will find food, ice cream, hand made gifts, bags you name it. At the end is a small temple and a lovely sea view. Opposite there is a food court where you can find lots of local foods there.

The crowd flocked to the jetty and few quiet houses formed a sharp contrast. Most traditional old wooden houses become little shops selling food and souvenirs makes this place commercialised. Feeling sad for residents here who don't want to be disturbed but some places like this are really attractive and good for visitors to walk around. Enjoying the gentle sea breeze and eating some good food, what a life.

Visited the jetty at about 6.30pm so I didn't managed to visit the shops as most of them are closed/closing in progress. However, the jetty does allow you to see the sea, which make it a very good scenic place for photography. If you like to fully explore the jetty (or the series of jetties found along the stretch), it might be useful to cater at least half day exploring the locations. Accurate as of August 2023.

Nothing interesting. It is a small stretch with some houses on each side when you are walking in. I suppose this might be an interesting experience for some tourist. The views are okay but we reached the end in 10 mins and walked back. There are some shops are the front before going in and inside it is mostly small souvenir stores and those selling ice cream.

A living cultural artefact, still filled with people staying there today, of a community who built their property into the sea. It was nice and the path was shaded, although it was low tide and the place smelt of stagnant water. Would be improved with better environmental control, although I had to say the area was pretty litter free.

Visit this place for a quick walk to see the Chinese houses on the jetty. Families still live there so be respectful. There are shops you may explore

Great place to catch the breeze on a hot day. We arrived about 6.30pm, and most shops/homes were closed up even though it was relatively busy. Recommend going earlier.

The most visited jetty.. As one walks on the wooden platform from the front to the back, one sees a lot of souvenir shops ,shops selling cold drinks, ice kacang, ice creams. At the end of the walk, one can see Penang bridge.

Probably the most popular out of the clan jetties, it still retains the stilts houses with residents living in it. Some of the houses become partly souvenir/snacks stand which can be quite touristy, but nevertheless it's still a nice place to drop by for a walk to learn more about the history of the clan jetties. We visited very early morning (9am) to beat the crowd and heat and so not many shops were open and it's still quite calm and peaceful. There are a few street arts and nice lantern installation in the alley, and a temple near the entrance as well. No entrance fee, but be mindful of noise and respectful by not taking pictures without their permission as people live there.

A great tourist attraction for a leisure walk and sight-seeing. Walk to the end of the jetty through the wooden walkway and you will be rewarded with beautiful up sea views. Great to go in the morning and evening too. Just don't be noisy and interrupt the residents. 😃

As an historical place is interesting how people emigrated from China to the Malay Peninsula and how they grouped by families in houses over the sea and the influence they had in the city. The main problem is that there is only one sign with this information and the rest is a main hallway full of shops. If you want to see a more authentic one, you can find in this same Jetty, just take the path to the right as soon as you enter the place, is full of houses not oriented to sell you anything.

Time seemed to have stood still and it’s still back in 1970s or 80s where a simpler life existed. That is the time warp you experience when meandering through the corridors at Chew Jetty. Recommend to come early morning before the tourists descend and enjoy the peace and somewhat tranquil surroundings.

Fun jetty to walk through the traditional houses by the beach over the sea. A little warm and we stopped by in this pretty shaved ice cafe. Fruit tea is refreshing. A good stop to cool down and freshen up.

Have to come here! Day would be easier to take beautiful photos but weather may be a little hot, so wear a cap/ a hat! Easy to locate and free entry. Beautiful seaview😍

They have a temple there at the entrance and along the way to the jetty, you can find shops that selling some local crafted items. Was very hot when we visiting, it would be great to go in the morning or evening when there’s not too hot.

The most popular of the clan jetties. It consist of a short walk on the pier with souvenir shops are both sides of the walkway. Takes about 30 mins at most to walk around unless you really want to slow shop. Some shops have more bargains than the others. It’s up to you to decide what you want.

I enjoyed walking around and recommend you visit. Take a right off of the main tourist area to see a some of the more local/real living quarters.

'Chew Jetty' is the most popular of a number of similar jetties in this area. It is a photographer's delight with many shops and restaurants, numerous views (some nice, some not so nice!). Close to the Jetty Food Court, it's well worth a visit.

Old village by the sea where there are many food stalls and souvenirs shops. Smell is bad because of too many shops and houses delivering garbage and other on the water. Compared to Tai O village at Hongkong, the environment here is worse.

Chew Jetty is the most developed and best preserved of all jetties, although other jetties are perhaps more picturesque. :-) There are now a total of 7 or 8 preserved clan jetties in George Town. Clan Jetties are villages on the water (stilts). They were built and inhabited by Chinese immigrants. There are several shops and cafes in the village. On the shore, in front of the entrance, there is a small Chinese temple (Temple of the Monkey God). There are also several restaurants in the area. There is not tickets to enter this area.

Really neat place, historical for Penang showcasing the life of the Chinese fisherman that arrived in Georgetown. There are 5 of them, Chiew seems to be the real popular one, probably because Armenian St. ends at the road across from it. Visit them all, some are quieter than the others. Great food places though so eat

a unique place, must visit here when come to Penang. a yummy muah-chi selling by locals. many houses transform into business. some still remain their original design.

Despite the horrible start (British did not allow Chinese labourers to live on land) these communities built on stilts anchored in the water still thrive as living quarters and small businesses. Interesting murals and a temple at both ends of the jetty. Chew Jetty is the only one that allows tourists.

This was our first trip to Malaysia. We were especially impressed by people serving us during our stay. There was no feeling of a "rush hour" although everything functioned well. We also enjoyed a very airy room - the ceiling was high up! The leader of a guided tour in the mansion was a real expert. Maybe we even missed something because we do not know a Chinese culture so well. Food in the Indigo restaurant was overall very tasty and well prepared, some combinations, however not to my taste.

I liked the vibe of the town house we stayed at despite it being a drive away from the blue mansion itself. It was a unique experience and would recommend to anyone who wants a genuine feel of the wonderful George Town. The reason I'm giving this accommodation a five is because I was infuriated on the very last day when the iron provided by the hotel melted blue paint or plastic, very fitting, on the collar of my brand new shirt that I was trying to iron and when I repeatedly tried to call reception to demand it be dry cleaned immediately I couldn't get through and when I eventually did many hours later, they told me laundry was closed for the day and that it would need to be taken care of the next day. I was checking out the next day so that was useless.

The blue color of the mansion stood out among the buildings on the street and I was amazed by the majestic architecture of this ancient place. They have a guided tour at certain times of the day and you have to pay for it, which kind of forcing visitors to pay just to enter even though I didn’t want the tour and just wanted to have a look and take photos of the place. I guess this is another way the place wants to generate more profits even though the place itself is a hotel. I was impressed by how they detailed the history of the owner of the place and the interior decor. I furthered learned that this place has been a popular place for movie shootings as well, the known one was Crazy Rich Asians. I’d love to stay here for a few nights one day just to enjoy and experience a stay at an ancient mansion.

We have long been fans of the Blue Mansion. It is beautiful, distinctive, and richly filled with history. This history includes our own - we chose to have our wedding dinner here about a decade ago (lovely!). Our most recent visit for high tea was brightened by one of their excellent staff members, Selva, who took a number of skillful photos of us with our iPhone. We will cherish those photos and look forward to our next visit to the Blue Mansion.

What a seemless check-in experience. Staff was friendly and efficient. Right from the entrance, the staff came to get the bags. Check in staff was all smiles and made the process quick and easy. Next day's breakfast was also made to make it convenient. Rooms are spacious, clean and our room had access to the pool too from the room. Family friendly. Shower room was clean and well equipped with all your needs.

Beautiful architecture and pleasant stay - to stay here is a bit like staying in a museum. High ceilings and antique furniture. As there are many original features, expects some quirks. The courtyards are lovely for relaxing in with a cool drink and a book. As is the swimming pool area. Staff were efficient and helpful. Great to see drinking water in glass instead of plastic bottles. Likewise, I appreciated the full size toiletries instead of the plastic minis. There’s a lovely friendly cat here too!

From the moment we arrived, we felt cared for by the staff at The Blue Mansion! They brought us tea, assisted with luggage, had our room prepared with some lovely surprises for our anniversary, and gave us a drink ticket to use at the bar to celebrate. The property is beautiful and wonderfully kept. We enjoyed the museum aspects of the house and the fact that each room feels like a museum. The staff were so helpful with recommendations of where to go around Penang and were always warm and welcoming. In the evening on our first night at the Mansion, they brought us some lovely desserts. They really made our stay feel special and it is something we will remember for many years to come!

managed to join the guided tour today and it was an amazing, eye-opening experience! honestly, i only expected to see a very blue building, but left with so much more than that! catch the 11am Friday tours if you can. our guide (sorry I forgot her name!) said she only does this slot weekly. she and her husband are responsible for the restoration of the Blue Mansion and you could feel her passion coming through for this project. it really helped make the tour so much more enriching :)

Beautiful building with many lovingly restored details. Nice for a short visit. However, when staying the night beware that the noise from the neighbours at night is extremely loud and makes any sleep before midnight impossible. Most staff was polite but not as friendly as elsewhere. Breakfast was ok.

This mansion is a nice heritage house in Penang. We can learn about the origin story the mansion was built. There are providing tour around the mansion. The view from front and inside the mansion are very nice and full historical. Especially thanks to the one of crew from this mansion, his name is Shelva. He was help me to take some photos for me. And the result photos are great. Very kind and nice crew to us.

Place considerably well maintained. If you like heritage, this would be a great place to go. Guided tours available with an extension turned into hotel. Has a mini pool. SOP is mediocre. Bed is comfy but floor in lower ground floor is concrete. Not the most comfortable for a hotel room.

Highly recommend Indigo as the perfect venue to host private events. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing, the interior deco is lovely & the staff are friendly & helpful. Our guests enjoy the event very much! Our stay at Ming Room is equally satisfying. The room is spacious, comfy & very "heritage". And definitely a big thanks to Mr. Daniel who helps to coordinate our private event! It is a pleasant & memorable experience for the both of us~*

the amount of work they’ve put into restoring this place…just…wow. Mom stayed here for a night and said the beds were a little hard, but overall the stay was fantastic. She absolutely loved the staff and made friends with a few folks (pictures below) who she said went above and beyond to make her time incredible. We went on a tour the next morning and learning about the history of the place makes it even more interesting. Beautiful grounds and in a great location, if you want a unique experience highly recommend!

We had our wedding here last week and we were so impressed by how exceptional all the staff were. They were friendly, attentive, hospitable, and many of our wedding guests were amazed. In the midst of the busyness, they noticed and immediately attended to any of our guests who needed anything. Jafifah, the hotel manager, was everything we could ever ask for and more. On top of displaying superior professionalism, she went out of her way to make this wedding happen for us and reassured us that we were in good hands every step of the way. On the day of the wedding, everything was so well-coordinated, from decor setup to the timing of food service of the amazing dinner spread Chef Jack had prepared. She and the staff members of The Blue Mansion worked so harmoniously with all the other vendors, we really could not have asked for more. We highly recommend The Blue Mansion to anyone who’s considering having their wedding here.

Wonderful 3 night stay at The Blue Mansion. Rooms are spacious & well equipped. Helpful friendly staff. Lovely cocktails in the courtyard bar. Mangga Restaurant serves good food and has nightly music. Blue Mansion had been wonderfully restored. One of my favourite hotels worldwide.

As a historic landmark, it lacks some features compared to modern hotels. But the experience of staying here is so unique, it is still worth it. The free breakfast is amazing too!

We loved our guided tour! Such a beautiful building with rich history. Our tour guide was insightful and lovely. It was however frustrating that she was rudely interrupted by an outsider tour group multiple times... they shouldn't be allowed to operate while genuine tours are in progress. Also a shout out to the member of staff who offered to take photos of my family! He really went above and beyond to get the perfect shot!

Availed the 45min-1hr guided tour for 25 RM. It was worth it since the mansion is well preserved, and our guide Alexis is a good speaker. I learned a lot and if I can afford it I would like to try to stay in one of the rooms in the future. Kudos also to the nice and friendly staff 🙂

We thought the mansion was beautiful. However, we had booked a tour with a guide who was very difficult to hear. We were with a very large group. Halfway the tour we decided to leave, since we couldn't hear anything the guide was telling us and we were packed between other people. Maybe the audio tour is better?

This is a heritage cultural historical building. So there's no words that will be adequate to convey its elegance and feel. I guess this is one of the places that you will just need to come physically to appreciate the building. Came here for dinner so will review the food. Coming to the food, I must say I enjoyed the simple 4 course dinner. They are all simple, elegant and tasty dishes. They started with capellini which came lightly flavoured but delicious when lightly dabbed with the dashi foam. The soup meanwhile had a lighter cauliflower taste than I expected but the scallop was perfectly seared. As for the snapper, even though I found the fish a tad dry, the combination of taste and texture of the accompanying parts were done nicely. The conclusion dessert brought a good end to the meal. A bit heavier than I expected but I can't fault it's deliciousness.

Entrance fee: 10 RM It’s an interesting place to learn how a clan lived 100 years ago in Georgetown and learn some history of the town. The main building is gorgeous, the ceiling, the pillars, the walls, everything is decorated in some way or another. I recommend you to visit the buildings first and then the museum as the last one assumes that you already saw the building. The only thing I really dislike was that the patio of this place is occupied as parking (at least when we were there) It cost nothing to not park in front of your beautiful building.

Beautiful very ornate temple built in 1906 by the very wealthy Khoo clan.It is the largest Hokkien clan house in Malaysia. They also built a private opera house in front of the house. A must see in Georgetown. Highly recommended.

One of the most beautiful and big temple here with old Chinese architecture, ticket 15RM for just a round 5-10 min without any explanation and don’t gain any knowledge

This feels like a stroll in one of the ancient mansion only to be found in China. It is well kept and full of stories. The craft arts on the roof, wall, door and windows show the status of the family and wealth. Entrance fee is RM10. It's definitely worth more than what you've paid.

A beautiful Chinese temple just off Armenian street. We walked past the entrance initially as the temple is not visible from the street. The temple is beautiful and the decoration is incredibly intricate. There is a museum on the lower floor detailing the history of the building and the clan which added to our experience a lot.

Fascinating insights into Chinese immigration and clans in Georgetown. Beautiful temple opposite stage, surrounded by clan residences . Excellent museum underneath. Worth at least an hour to take in the museum (suggest visit firstbto get best understanding of history and construction of the temple and surrounds).

This place was not easy to find, no clear signs as it was located inside an alley. I had to ask several people beforehand. The building is majestic, the craftsmanship is really detailed and beautiful. It is well maintained, organized and clean too, much better than other tourist designations in Penang. Am glad to be here during my short stay.

15RM pp. It’s a Chinese clan temple. In my opinion it’s not as beautiful as other temples in Malaysia like the Buddhist ones in Ipoh. So no big statues but the carvings and the decorations are very nice. I think that $3 is a bit too much but I didn’t regret spending them to see the temple.

This is a well-preserved, historically important monument that is still being used today. One of the oldest clan house in Penang and South East Asia, this is a truly magnificent piece of architecture and design dated more than a century ago. Good place to visit with family too!

This place is beautiful! Superb. So rich in culture and delicate architecture. The silence is priceless! Despite the outside trafic is bad and noisy. Inside those walls, barely hear anything except birds sounds. Inner peace at its best! Rm15 per person entry. Closes at 5pm.

A bit hard to find. You have to go from Cannon street to get in. Entrance is 15 RM per person which is okay considering how nicely renovated the building is and how good the museum underneath is. Worth a visit if you are in the city center.

As one of the most iconic landmarks in George Town, Penang, the Khoo Kongsi Temple is renowned for its stunning architecture, intricate carvings, and ornate decorations. Incredibly ornate temple, worth taking the time to explore. There is also a little self-guided history museum full of interesting information. Be sure to stop by the gift shop and say hello to the sweet couple who rus it, they are gems.

Well maintained and a good place to learn about the history of the Khoo clan and Penang as well. There were English translations in all the information provided. There is a toilet and gift shop inside the compound.

Such a nice place to enjoy fantastic Kongsi. There is a museum inside, which is worth seeing.

Finally get to visit Penang Botanic Garden. Decent place to visiting with your loved one as the place is not crowded with people. Like the cleanliness and wide variety of flower and leaves plants. Just a suggestion, that would be great if the fern house is open for closer look at the little plant. Unfortunately, the natural fish pond is dried out. However, garden is diversify with weird fruit and fungus that we found fascinating. Might need to be careful with the monkeys tho as they seem to be aggressive if you go near their feeding ground. Anyway, it was a good idea to have such place. Definitely worth the time and things is no entry fees is needed. If not because of the far distance, I would like to go there once or twice in a week to rewind from busy city.

Since the MCO has passed, more and more people have started to pay attention to their health. As a result, many parks are crowded with people every weekend, but this is a good thing. The botanical garden is a very good place to walk around, and there are hidden and spectacular waterfalls to watch.

Lovely botanical garden and park, it's not a huge one, but still very nice. When we went it was very quiet, which made it better. It's free to visit, and it's also worth going on the smaller tracks. The greenhouses and some areas were closed for maintenance, but we still very much enjoyed walking around for a couple of hours. Would definitely recommend it if in George Town.

Good for morning walk covering most trails, about 3km. Lots of trees and benches. Lesser monkeys than it used to have many years ago. Some areas are not well kept/maintained maybe due to covid? Lack of signages of the trail and distance, but you can count on fellow walkers.

My favorite place in Penang. If you are a botanist or horticulturist or plant enthusiast, this is a must-visit place in Penang. Such a beautiful garden; very fun to explore. If you are lucky, you may see native animals such as lizards and black giant squirrel - I was lucky enough to spot one on a tree at the lily pond! There are monkeys too. Treat the wildlife with respect. You can take a jeep ride up to Penang Hill from here. There is also a trail going up to Penang Hill, but you had better be well-prepared and fit enough since it is a proper hike.

Awesome green lung space in Penang. Can get really crowded on weekends and public holidays. We went quite early in the morning by Grab and thankfully so. It was teeming and drivers were desperately looking for parking spaces. We got off near the gate and it was quite crowded inside too. Once you're in and walking there is ample space and the greenery takes over. It is a beautiful space. Trees and plants from all over the world. Most are labelled quite well. There are benches and gazebos as well where one can rest and catch ones breath. The gardens are quite well maintained and the cleaners are already on duty early in the day. So are the monkeys. Food inside is a strict no-no with these mischievous little fellas on the prowl. The flowers are a sight to behold as were the lotus ponds. We will keep coming back regularly, if possible on weekdays. Fresh air is such a wonderful thing and so is this verdant space in Penang.

The botanical garden was a tranquil oasis filled with a diverse collection of plant species. The well-maintained paths allowed for a peaceful stroll, and the informative signage added educational value. It's a perfect place for nature enthusiasts and a great escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

We absolutely love coming for walks here to enjoy nature. There are always wildlife to see like monkeys, birds and monitor lizards. It feels like we are in a national geographic documentary without having to travel too far or walk deep in the jungle. The gardens is well maintained and have beautiful heritage trees. It is a much needed green lung in Penang for the public to enjoy. It is safe and there is plenty of parking and amenities. This place is suitable for all ages.

Lovely park. We went on a Sunday midday and there weren’t many guests. The park is well designed with great views. Lots of animals such as monkeys (don’t feed them), monitor lizards, butterflies or birds. The special houses for orchids or fern were closed when we visited. There is a small shop where you can buy drinks or ice cream.

Many locals visit Penang Botanical Gardens to exercise and take wedding pictures. The entrance is free. There are several paths to choose from and even a hiking trail. There's lily ponds, flower gardens and a japanese garden (outside the main entrance). If you don't feel like walking, they do have a tram service. The Orchid house is open from Tuesday to Thursday. The staff on-site was really friendly and patient. He was showing us the hybrid and wild orchids and explaining how to take care of certain orchids. DO NOT bring food as there are wild monkeys around.

I came here after climbing to Penang Hill. Nice place to walk around . Be aware of monkeys around. Some spots closed for maintenance. The garden is small enough for walking around 1-2 hours. Free entrance fee. I am believe it will be nicer when the maintenance completed. You can combine the Botanical garden and Penang Hill in one trip.

Nov 2021 We enjoyed our walk. The toilet need little more improvement, keep clean, need to provide toilet paper and blow to dry hand. Wish there are more sign on the names of the plants. Unfortunately, this trip, most of the section very closed as it has not been maintained. Sad sad case. Wish there are more seat to seat to enjoy the view and rest.

One of the best park in the city. Calm and relaxing atmosphere. Cute monkeys and lizards. Entrance is free, great for jogging. Disadvantages: there is a waterfall nearby, but the way to it is closed, the road through the jungle is terribly difficult, maybe not worth it

This place looks amazing though I would suggest exploring this early morning or late afternoon as the sun belting down on us in the humid tropics can make it an unpleasant sweaty affair. The garden is divided up into areas of plant varieties so if you're a fan of a particular plant group, they are all planted in an area of the park. We'll worth a look and maybe a good place for a picnic on a cooler day.

A must visit place for nature lovers and hikers. Free entrance fee. A good place for a morning stroll or evening walk. The garden is spacious, with a lot of greeneries, trees and flowers, and there are signboards that stated what plants are those together with their scientific names, as well as QR code for more information (I didn't scan the code though). There are many smaller parks inside the big garden such as ferns house, bamboo park and others.

What a really nice place to spend a couple of hours. There is no entry charge however a small charge would assist the upkeep of some of the exhibits like the orchid garden. There is plenty of wildlife together with great scenery and waterfalls.

The park is overally very wonderful, the main area is relaxing! There are many plant houses you will see as you walk around the park, but they are always closed so it feels like you are only getting half the experience of the garden. If they open the side attractions it would be amazing.

Great park with beautiful hikes of varying difficulty levels, full of diverse plants and animals, and on top of it all, completely free of charge. There are a bunch of tropical spice, fruit, etc. gardens on the island, most of which cost RM20+ to enter, without having close to this diversity on a very limited space. The botanical garden is really the only place you need to see, absolutely well deserved!

The botanical gardens were more of a parc than any botanical garden I know. Entry is for free. The paths were confusing and the map is not very precise. The plants have no name tags nor any description and are usually wide apart. For a better understanding of the local and Asian flora I recommend the Spice Garden instead (you pay around 5$).

It's a beautiful garden which you can visit either during the day or night. The garden is dark with yellow lights turned on at night. But it's very bright outside the garden so we still can sit around the bench on the grass to get some nice air at night. It's easy to get parking too.

We had walked from Penang hill which was a long and very downhill walk. We enjoyed the walk down but I would recommend finding a different way down. When we arrived to the Botanic Gardens we walked around the park and saw many different flowers, monkeys, trees, and a rock garden. There is a restaurant on site that serves a buffet style. We had a snack and a rest and then made our way back to our hotel.

More a parc rather than a botanical garden. But it is quite big, has a lot of diverse flora and welcomes some visitors such as monkeys. It is nice for a stroll, getting a bit of shade when it is hot. Still I’d recommend taking a lot of water with, as the air doesn’t move around, and I didn’t see any open refreshment cafe or something inside the parc

A Burmese Temple complex, just across the road from the Thai Temple complex, so the two can be seen one after the other, provided you are not 'templed out.' A splendid collection of Burmese Temple buildings set out in a garden area with water areas. Very photogenic.

A Therawada Budhist temple. Very calm and peaceful place. Beautiful and colourful architecture. Came here to offer food danna to the Monks. Food danna is at 11am. Close at 2pm during the pandemic period.

One of the must visit places in Penang. The place is very quiet and tranquil and separate buildings for separate purposes. In the main building behind the sitting Buddha statue a series of Buddha statues are there representing faces and appearances of the Buddha from different Asian countries, like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Very beautiful place both historical and religious. Clean and well kept on. It is close other religious temples I recommend visiting as well.

The Burmese Buddhist Temple was just located opposite the Thai Buddhist Temple - Wat Chayamangkalaram at Pulau Tikus - George Town, Penang. This temple was established as a monastery & serves as a retreat for Buddhist devotee, with a monks' quarters, a preceptees' lodge and a library within the temple grounds. Numerous statues of the Buddha and mythical creatures such as elephants, fishes and the garuda to symbolise the "three realms of land, air and sea" are scattered within the temple, including a pair of winged chimeras known as Panca Rupa (the Guardian Protectors of the World) and a huge mural depicting the Renunciation of the Buddha. This temple looks humble and tranquil, it may not lavish as the Thai Buddhist Temple across the road. However, it has that aura of serenity.

As his neighbour, this temple is stunning with an impressive spiritual mood that you may feel. It was such a pleasure to discover this place

The temple is organised into a few sections. Main praying hall with a giantic buddha statue. Deeper in, there is also a bell tower and a pond with koi fish. A monk will also avail himself if you require a prayer service. You can also hang notes onto a money tree.

Beautiful Burmese temple that shows a variety of Buddha statues from different parts of Asia, as well as the life history of Siddharta Gautama Buddha. Exquisite wood carvings as well on the ceiling.

I loved the atmosphere here. I have never been to Myanmar before but visiting this temple made me want to someday. I loved that I could feel the history from the well that was being used long time ago, and I also loved that ancient Buddhas from all other Asian countries including Japan are there. Such a beautiful place to visit. They have benches under the roof so if you are tired you can take some rest too.

A lovely beautiful Buddhist temple involve around Burmese culture. There got pagoda, fish pond, and story of Gautama become the Buddha. Its a free entry.

Good to see the architecture of the temple. It was too crowded when I visited, despite the week day.

Fabulous science museum ever! Recommended for kids, student, and teenager. They will relate what they have learnt in school. The entry fee is totally worth. Student got different rate. A lot of activities such as wall climbing, g-drop and others. Drone shows are available. I had a lot of great experiences. I enjoyed there for about 3 hours. The science museum is located at Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak ( KOMTAR ). Have a good tour there!

Tech Dome - a science and technology centre that gives children an opportunity to learn in a fun environment. The G-Drop, G-Force and Wall Climb are must try activities. These activities are fully guided and therefore they are completely safe. Mr. Peru, who is one of the staff there, took time to explain the various exhibits. He has a way of attracting children with his interesting explanations about the mechanism placed in the centre. Go look for him if you visit Tech Dome as he is a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful person. You may spend as much time as possible to explore. No time limitation!

Kinda like Petrosains. A lot of interactive things in the place to demonstrate science concepts so youre not only learning by reading but you also can see/experience them. Those who have interest in science will spend at least 1 hour here to see and learn everything. Recommended for nerds. Popular kids should go somewhere else.

Behind its unassuming entrance lies a world of fascinating science lessons, presented in an interactive manner with hands-on applications. The drone show was a highlight! We regretted not having enough time to explore everything. I’d recommend setting aside at least 2 hours for a visit.

Great explanation, making it more fun and interesting! Just ask the staff, very helpful. Peru took time to explain the various exhibits. They came alive and enjoyable.

Pretty decent place akin to Pusat sains negara, only thing is you have to pay for the tickets. Otherwise almost all equipment are still usable and interactive. Good place to bring kids over to learn. Getting there however is abit tricky as it's been awhile since we came to Penang, and specifically komtar. Just ask around if you're not sure, someone will point you in the right direction. It opens till 7pm so plenty of time to explore, we came around 4pm+ and still could finish the sections. Another plus point is no crowd, no queue, guess most of penangite have already visited it as the place was established since 2016.

Worth the visit! So many things to see and play, my kids really enjoyed it here, especially the laser room.. can spend the whole day here.. the staff were nice. Please give this place your support, otherwise it can't be maintained so nice like the mall that it's in

The Tech Dome is a great place for children (6yrs to 100yrs) explore science. They have curated a good variety of exhibits on physics and biology. Mr.Perumal (forgive my spelling) is a very enthusiastic guide and he's got a nice surprise if he takes you to the plasma exhibit.

We were looking for a fun activity to do after having dropped off our rental car. This place was a lot of fun. I wish that everything was included and you didn’t have to pay extra for the slide and wall. The drone show us was really cool.

As most reviews mentioned, this is a fantastic place for families with children. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits, most of which allowed us some hands-on experience. The staff was also extremely helpful, offering some advice & guidance without being overbearing. The mall itself is old but they have clearly spent a great deal of effort and resources to build up this centre. Given its location, you are never far from food options after your visit to Tech Dome. Highly recommended!

Good place for spending time free time in here. Do take note like G Force need to pay additional RM6 for one round. Other than that is entrance fee RM28.

Tech Dome is a science and technology centre that will give children an opportunity to learn with fun. The G-Drop, G-Force and Wall Climb are must try activities for adults. It was completely safe and fully guided. Mr.Peru, who is the guide there, provides an interesting explanation to students and guided adults about the mechanism of tech simulators placed in the centre. There were no time limitations. Students may spend as many hours as possible to explore and learn various aspects of technology. The dining area is provided at one corner as food is not allowed inside the centre.

Great place for kids and family! A great alternative to Singapore’s science centre and the attractions are all well maintained. Highly recommended for families with children from 1-16years old. Prices are well affordable too. Staff are helpful and toilets are clean

Cool concept but not what I expected from a “museum”. Also overpriced for what it is. It’s more of a rushed photoshoot with cool backgrounds than a museum where you can take your time to look at stuff. There is staff in every room to take photos of guests and they tell you how to pose. Since it all revolves around photos I felt rushed because there were other groups behind us waiting for their turn for the photos. The entire visit took less than 30 min. Definitely go for it if you want to take some funny photos with your friends to post on Instagram, otherwise I would not recommend.

This was an incredibly FUN experience; we felt like children again! The staff at reception were helpful abs explained the photography element of the experience. You get lockers for your shoes, and they are safe. The photographers on the inside are GREAT; they help with poses, give you time to check the pictures, and you still have time to look around!

Don’t know how was it before covid. Slow process while purchasing ticket. Not as many setup as I thought. Not really suitable for one person I guess, unless you can pose as weird as you can and get the staff there to take fun photos for you. I felt the ticket a bit overprice 😅

Upside down museum is all about photo op. You go in set to set, with an assistant helping you take photos. They will assist you with the recommended pose so don worry about not knowing what to do. Photos will look amazing as the assistants know how to take good photos. A recommended visit!

The concept is interesting but tickets are expensive compared to other locations/options. Many upside-down scenes to take photos with. There are staff to take photos for the visitors. Entire visit took less than 1 hour.

one of the must visit in Penang, the most unusual museum in Penang, the Upside Down Museum. true to its name, most of everything you will see here is hanged upside down but not too worry, there are numerous staff in each section who will assist you to take the photos & videos & you will be surprised when you personally see the results. it’s amazing, fun, hilarious & truly enjoyable visit.

Not a bad place if you're looking for a spot to take good photographs with friends and family. Just keep in mind of one thing - the queue and crowd can be crazy, so either go there early or just be prepared to get rushed through each section hastily. Although inspiring and fun, you won't get to spend much time enjoying the view since you'll be asked (politely) to move on to make way for newcomers. Staffs speak good English and would advise (very well) on what type of pose you should do to get the best photographs. Most of the Staffs are friendly and welcoming, so that's good. But there are also some sour plums who act like you owed them money. Even saw a staff at the slanted snooker table section who dropped a customer's phone (the customer didn't notice). Overall, it's great. But you'd depend alot on the photos on your phone to remind you of that greatness. Again, since you'll be ushered through rather quickly (but understandably), it just makes sense that you won't remember most of what you saw.

Been to Penang many times but this is my first time trying to explore their tourist non historical museums, enjoyed it, staff are very friendly and helpful. Prepare to take acrobatic style photo as they will guide you how to pose. Very strict with SOP, have to wait for your turn so each station will not be with other people. Great!

I would say this place is definitely a work of art. The details, the colour and the design of the layout make the place so vibrant and interesting. Plus point for this place - the staff as free photographers make the visitors at ease and enjoy the experience of being around this unique house. The other staff are also very helpful and friendly too. The downside - quite a challenge to get a parking place and the parking is not free except for Sunday. You need to download apps Penang Smart Parking for the online payment. Overall experience? Definitely a must visit if you go to Penang!

This place was a lot of fun. They tell you how to pose and move you through the exhibit pretty quickly, but all the staff are friendly and lent my mom a power bank so we could keep charging her phone for the photos!

Please ignore the souvenirs, we bought a 3 in 1 bag for 24 ringgit, we found it later in another store, 2 for 25 ringgit. Fun place to take photos in really weird poses that turns out great when you flip it upside down. Not really a look around museum as there are many ushers to move you along for photoshoots at each stage.

Place for many funny pictures. For every room is already personal who takes care about you, takes the photos for you and know where and how to place in the room to get a very funny picture. I liked it as a nice variety during the day.

This is just fun museum to go to where you take pictures and they turn out to be really cool when you turn them upside down. It seems even more fun to go in a group of 3-5 people but even as a solo traveler you can get to enjoy yourself. The attendees are quite helpful and will help take pictures as well as instruct you on the poses. The only drawback is you get to be shuffled out of one room to the other quite fast. All in all it’s a fun experience.

Is your strategy to make sure customers go out fast and unhappy? Level 1 staffs are very friendly and helpful. They are willing to help take a few shots. Level 2 -Adam Stop sign board , there was this obese, big size Chinese guy too much so rude and acting bossy. He doesn't even take photo just keeps talking to other male & female staffs. He will make a pissed off sound to make you leave if you ask for one more photo, It is not even his section so busybody, should let the other staffs in-charge of their section do their best shot for customers. The museum is small and no customer waiting as it is a weekday afternoon, why need to rush please ask yourself? Really bad luck encounter with this staff. This staff zero star. The rest of staff are 5⭐ standard. Glad I got few nice shots from level 1. Date of visit : 29/1/2024

Fun place, they manage the crowds really well with staggered entrances and staff in each room to take the photos. Overall a very good experience, nice way to take a break from the heat outside if you are exploring Georgetown

At the ticket counter, there was a lack of consideration for queues, and incidents of confrontations were notable, particularly involving individuals of Indian descent. Instances were observed where they bypassed others, and attempts to communicate were met with indifference, sometimes resulting in a lack of personal space at the cash register. Additionally, there was an incident involving a staff member who ignored our inquiries and attended to individuals from the aforementioned group, bypassing the established line. Despite these concerns, the staff inside the venue were friendly and accommodating. They readily assisted visitors by taking photos at various locations. But the place is small and they push you too fast to complete Regrettably, based on my experience, I do not plan to return to this venue and would not recommend it to others.

Very well managed place. Even though it’s crowded, the crowd management is done pretty well. There is an indoor seated area with a/c to accommodate customer while waiting to enter. Waiting time is around 20 mins. There are old ‘funny prank’ videos played in the waiting room to entertain customers esp kids, so you don’t be bored or feel waiting for too long. You need to take off your shoe before entering and the shoes are well kept by the museum’s team. Inside the museum, there are staff that help you to take pictures for free and guide you on how to pose. This is the best part of the experience which is not available at other similar places. Location wise, it is within walking distance from Penang road and Chowrasta market where a lot of famous restaurants are located. Price wise is reasonable and highly recommended.

Is ok something different n replicates the old houses of Penang . You can go n buy the tickets n try for an hour . It has its own living room, dining hall, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and everything else you might expect in a typical house. Except that everything is upside down. That’s right — everything, from the sofa to the bathtub, is glued to the ceiling! As the name suggests, there are different rooms in the museum, each scene is arranged upside down, and professional staff guide visitors how to pose and photograph, to achieve the best visual effect. Staff are friendly n guide us for the recommended poses n take photos for us from our camera or mobile. The idea is to take pictures of yourself in the rooms so that when you rotate the photos upside down, it will look as though you’re defying gravity. Tips for Visiting Penang Upside-Down Museum Make sure you bring your camera/phone with you. The visit would be pointless without one. Make sure your camera/phone has enough battery and storage. The photographer will take at least two shots for each pose. To make the photos more believable, if you have long hair, tie it up in a bun. Otherwise, it would give the secret away. Case in point: For the same reason, try not to wear skirts, dresses, or loose shirts. Or, if you don’t have anything to tie your hair with. The whole process is super-efficient. Instead of having everybody randomly ambling around in the museum, allowing only one group in each room helps everyone get good photos without having any photo-bombers. In the beginning, you might feel as though you’re being rushed through the experience, but it will soon make sense because this museum is something you can only truly appreciate once you go home and look at the pictures

This temple is the oldest Malaysian Siamese temple. In 1795, The temple features one of the world's longest (Reclining Buddha / Sleeping Buddha) (108 ft / 33 meter) statue as well as several coloured statues of Yaksha and other mythical creatures. Several smaller statues of the Buddha in various poses, as well as the Devas can be seen throughout the temple, particularly adorning the main prayer hall & the entrance hall. If you are in Penang - George Town, probably you can take a quick visit about +/- 30 min.

Very impressive Thai Buddhist temple. The reclining Buddha statue is massive, but what really drew me to it was the serene face as it fills you with calm and peace. The sculptor got it just right. There are other statues as well and memorials of devotees who have passed. The giant stupa on the grounds is also worth a look. We were there on a rather crowded day as the Burmese temple across the street had an event going on. The spillover of young devotees into the Thai precinct added some noise and colour, as well as photo clicking opportunities. A must see in culturally rich Penang.

We visited this peaceful yet impressive Buddhist temple that houses a large reclining Buddha. The image is so serene and peaceful. The floor tiles with lotus flowers are wonderful. Besides Buddha, there are also images of Guan Yin and Phra Phrom. This is a wonderful place for some peace and prayer.

It's a big temple and a good place to visit if you are a tourist. I saw some bike tours visiting this place so it's a popular destination in Penang.

Stumbled upon this fancy museum around Armenian Street. It's a small cozy museum with a lot of camera collections from different era. The guide, May, is lovely and passionate about the collection. There are some very unique cameras and you can try them out. Definitely a must visit for analogue camera lovers, if you don't know much about cameras, then there's more for you to learn from her.

Definitely worth to visit. Comprehensive collection of cameras from the oldest to the latest. The guide is knowledgeable, kind and friendly. You can also play with some of the vintage cameras and leave the photo in your cellphone.

RM20 per entry per adult, and the museum is more of like a mini gallery spanning roughly the size of 2 living rooms, which isn't very big. Sadly that means those that gloss over details quickly will be done and over with this place as quickly as 20mins. But analog enthusiasts like me will feel right at home. And it's not just 35/120mm, there's literally every era of camerawork on display. I took a solid 40mins just exploring every camera and trying out some of the stuff on display. My favourite part about the place was the SUPER DUPER LONG TELEPHOTO LENS they allowed you to peep through, just like the spy movies. There's even a darkroom attached for you to understand how developing in the dark works. The auntie owning the place is patient and friendly in helping you to understand the different processes of operating the cameras in Malay, Chinese and English. If you catch her on an empty day she would even engage in small talk with you (and she did that with me). Unfortunately they don't do processing of film, and they don't sell film either (well at least they used to before the pandemic but post-endemic the numbers really dropped so it's unsustainable to do that). If you love the analog process like me please give this place your support and maybe we might see an analog renaissance and have a minilab in this museum or something haha

Loveeeed this museum! The guide was super interesting, most of the old timey cameras there are working. The museum guide let us interact with some of the cameras and also simulated the effect on digital cameras.

great for film camera hobbyists and enthusiasts but like the other reviews have mentioned, the place is quite small so you would be done with the place really fast if you don't have a huge interest in it. was a pleasant surprise to find one of my dream film cameras in the displays! wished that they sold 35mm film but they don't :( the auntie working showed us around but since she had other customers, she was rushing between groups to explain things to us, almost like a speed run. minus stars because i wasn't aware of the no video-taking rule and i like taking videos of my day out like vlogs to compile at the end of the year. i was quite shocked when the auntie made me show her my gallery and my recently deleted to delete the 2 clips i took there (it was just a 5 second pan shot of the place 🥲) and she kept following me around afterwards, felt a bit uncomfortable about that. have mixed feelings about my visit, but i guess if you're purely there to look at cameras as a film enthusiast, it might be worthwhile to visit on a weekday afternoon when there are fewer visitors, and remember that you can't take videos or vlog!!

Accidentally stop at this edgy museum around Armenian Street and I would say this musem is a compulsary place to visit, especially for those who are camera addict. Hence, if you have zero interest about photography, I bet you'll be impressed. It is a compact yet content museum. The guide was amazingly passionate and friendly, she wouldn't even miss a thing to explain about the history of cameras there. The most interesting part was you could try on some cameras there ✨

Walked by and had to visit as we’re professional photographers! Such a fascinating museum run by passionate people. The staff gave us a tour around the museum and let us interact with vintage cameras. She explained the history and how they worked. Definitely worth a visit if you’re passionate about photography and cameras. Also a very good respite from the heat or rain.

May gave us a very detailed tour/crash course on the history of cameras. She was a very knowledgeable guide and was very welcoming. Many antique cameras were still functional and we got an opportunity to see how they work, and got a bunch of cool photos (phone camera via the antique camera lenses). Definitely worth the visit.

I entered the 'Asia Camera Museum' but when I saw the size of it and the RM25 entrance fee, I decided to forego. The reviews of people who did enter are very varied and it will obviously satisfy some but not others. As a seasoned photographer, I am sure it would have been too familiar for me - but if you fancy it, give it a try.

We had a blast at the museum today! At first glance it seemed small but at our surprise we got a tour. The guide spoke with so much passion and we learned a lot about the history of photography and film! She also helps with taking photos through other cameras. They have a very vintage vibe! Such a beautiful Mosque! I personally liked that there was a guy who introduced me what Muslim is, as I have little knowledge of it. I appreciate that they give their time to me to explain about the religion so I can know about it. They also have an information room with many books and pamphlets you can take freely.

We had a superb experience at the Kapitan Keling Mosque. Large signs at the entrance welcome also non-Muslims to visit the mosque. But that’s not all. We got robes to dress appropriately and got a free guided tour. The lady was really welcoming and explained the rituals and routines in great detail. We asked so many questions since this was a great opportunity to learn about the Islamic community and religion. Can’t recommend enough to step into this mosque and ask for someone to show you around at the visitor center. The visitor center is located right beside the main entrance.

A wonderful place to escape to and spend time in solitude. A much loved saintly scholar, its former Imam, Almarhum Al Hafiz Shaykh Datuk Abdullah AlBukhari who passed away on 9 Jan 2022 was buried at Maqam Nordin within the mosque's compound.

That was quite impressed to visit this mosque. Not because of an specific architecture but because it is the oldest mosque of Georgetown. It just celebrated 200 years in 2021. It's very beautiful from inside and outside. I was lucky enough to have Jummah prayer there. When I was there , it was at 2 pm, I would recommend to get there at least 30 minutes earlier, so that you can get a space. It fills up very quickly. Here, women have a separate building, so they can join Jummah prayer without any challenges.

We had a wonderful free tour today and learnt about the call to prayer, when Muslims pray and how they pray. It was enlightening and a really wholesome experience. Highly recommended! Clothes are provided to cover your shoulders and knees.

wandered here as part of our heritage walk at around 11am, we somehow got in and only found out later that the place was open till noon for prayers, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. the courtyard is beautiful, with flowers adorning the paths and great walls of white rising to form the mosque and its surrounding buildings. we didn’t go into mosque, but it appeared to be well-taken care of.

Always my go to mosque. Big enough and the women’s prayer area is also big. Wudhuk area and toiley are clean too. You can buy kangkung at front and feed the cute rabbits at their lawn. The view at night is marvellous too!

Beautifully designed mosque in George Town. Mens are allowed but for women to visit mosque the proper dress is required. You can visit this place in 10 to 20 minutes. Place is very quite and has a park. It has no ticket to visit you can visit this place with your children.

We passed this mosque many of times when we are walking around Georgetown and finally have the opportunity to join the friday praying.. There are 2 pools and 2 wudlu area on the both side, of the mosque. The toilet is quite clean and is located on the right side (from the main gate). The mosque is cool, and clean. There is a carpet as a mat for praying but your head to be placed in the floor above the mat (for me it is kind of unique). They sell water for RM1 but also provide a water dispenser if i'm not mistaken. And you can find some cute rabbits in the garden if you are lucky..

A historical mosque is known for its remarkable architecture and design. It warmly welcomes visitors, including non-Muslims and tourists. Situated in the heart of Georgetown, I highly recommend paying a visit when you're in the area to appreciate its captivating design and architecture.

Free entry. Recommended during off praying time. On friday, entry for tourist is not allowed between 12.00pm until 3.00pm. Look for the guard wearing white and red uniform or any of the mosque commitee members usually wearing white thobe around the mosque to ask for information on the mosque and more.

This is one of the most beautiful and old mosques I have seen in a while. I was walking down the streets of Penang when I had a first look. I prayed two prayers there, Maghrib and Isha. Imam's recitation was so beautiful and calming that you could listen to it a whole day. It also has a great historic value attached to it. You can find the details on a board just outside the mosque. I would really recommend folks to visit this as it has calming effects on your mind, regardless of your religion.

This is a beautiful and spacious mosque. It has a good restroom, but the air conditioners do not work well in hot weather.

A prominent old mosque in George Town. Used to be the main principal mosque of George Town before the State Mosque took over the function in the 80's. With its distinctive classical Mughal architecture, Masjid Kapitan Keling is one of the most recognizable and picturesque landmark in the old part of the George Town City. The surrounding is nice, calm and peaceful. The amenities are also well-maintained and clean. Tourists even the non-Muslims are welcomed to visit this mosque during off-prayer times. Tour guides and robes are provided here for the tourists. The entrance is free for everyone. Even though the main prayer hall with the carpets are only for the Muslim worshippers, but the non-Muslims can still explore the mosque from the wings of the prayer hall and its surroundings. It's nice seeing quite a lot of visitors from various countries during my visit to pray here.

It was very peaceful and beautiful in the early morning. The gate was closed, but a caretaker of the mosque allowed us into the courtyard, not inside the building. Right next to the mosque gate, there was a public bike station (LinkBike), where you could rent a bike at a reasonable price through the LinkBike app, to explore nearby attractions. To visit inside the building, you need to dress modestly like a Muslim, with a headscarf and clothing covering your arms and legs. They would loan coats if needed. I saw a water pool in front, where the Muslims were washing their faces and feet before entering inside. It was a religious ritual. Really nice mosque in George Town . Felt peaceful to see it from outside, especially when it’s lightning.

Don’t bother going. I was underwhelmed with my visit to the 3D museum in Penang. It is simply a bunch of not too great 2D paintings with shadows that are supposed to make your photos 3D (not true). It costs RM25 per person. There is a person who would help you take a few photos on your phone in the first area of this museum. (First two exhibits). They help you because they want to take a few photos so they can sell you copies at the end, which is fine but honestly, their photography skills is questionable. The room that I really wanted to take photos has a Van Gogh replica (starry night) in it and makes a tall person shorter than a short person. But that room was closed. I would not want to visit the 2nd time. Really not worth the money. I would highly recommend Upside Down Museum instead. As for Covid precautions, they asked us to show our MySerjahtera to make sure we are ‘Low Risk’ before we could buy tickets (that’s good) but there were a lot of people inside. It was a weekday when we visited, I would dread it if it was a weekend.

The place is definitely good. Not amazing and not the most creative/ wonderful 3D art I have seen. There are 20+ pieces of art to take pictures with but we got through them in around 1hr with a few being a bit difficult to find the right angles for. Overall, worth checking out. There were also useful and welcoming staff with a lot of things to do around the area too.

oh my god. This place was one of my FAVORITE activities that we did on our entire trip to Malaysia. If you’re down to get silly THIS IS A MUST. The upside down museum was cool too…but what makes this one special is that YOU get to use your imagination and choose what you do with the backgrounds. My mom end I had an absolute blast here. Big highlight of our time here. Thank you to the staff for bringing back a chance to play!

The place is situated in a shoplot near the main tourist attractions in Penang. Parking is a bit harder especially during peak hours. They observe certain SOP during COVID 19 pandemic. Ticket for Malaysian adults is RM25 and for kids RM15. The place has 2 levels. Make sure your handphone/camera is fully charged because for sure you'll be taking a lot of photos. The place is fully air-conditioned. Among the amenities are clean toilets and free drink thru water dispenser. You have to remove your shoes for upstairs tour. What is a bit inconvenience is once you finish taking photos and before exit, you have to go back to the shoe rack to take your shoes back. At the end of the tour there's a small shop selling souvenirs. Bonus point: There's a popular Nasi Kandar restaurant in front of this place called Nasi Kandar Merlin. Do try it out!

I must say that this location really confused me but it was really fun, the atmosphere was good. A variety of interesting and funny paintings and good ideas are presented here. There are paintings that seem to be real.. It is good to bring the family here.

The children gave a thumbs up. Recommended. But there is no staff to help you take photos. But tickets at klook is cheaper, 5% off with GENESIS5OFF
