Akakura Kanko Akakura Onsen ski areas in Myoko are well groomed, long and not crowded at all. And together with nearby Suginohara it’s a magical place to ski and snowboard too. The local food is exceptional.

This great ski hill has some good backcountry access to Mount Myoko. Tree runs and nice gondolas wisp you away to the upper mountain. Definitely old school vibes with out the pretentious posh resort vibes. Will definitely bring our international ski guided trips here again!

Loved this resort and the surrounding area. Lovely little town that has everything you need for a great mountain getaway. Snowboarded here and had a great time on great snow with nice long runs. Not crowded either, especially compared with the U.S. so that was a breath of fresh air! Hopefully we will return one day!

This place is heaven. Getting the best snow in all of Japan, maybe even all of the world. This is my go to when taking a snow trip away from home. When there is enough snow this place is a big open playground. With plenty of lifts and runs to suit all levels of skill. There is plenty of accommodation choices and not so many restaurants. This mountain is roughly a 6 hour drive away from Tokyo. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an escape to the best snow possible. You need to visit during Jan and Feb for the best possible fresh powder available.

Great place, amazing views, good for begginer and intermediate skiiers. It's just such a pity they allow pseudosports like snowboarding here.

4.5 stars. Our time here saw the best conditions of our 4-day stay, still snowing after three days, blissful carvers and endless deep powder tree runs between slopes. Seems the resort caters primarily to learners and intermediate skiers, even the highest run is not so challenging although there is a black ungroomed section if you want to run through moguls which isn't really much fun for skiers. Even on a perfect Saturday there were no crowds, longest wait for a lift was maybe 5 minutes... Recommend this area for families/newer skiers, also good for those new to JAPOW, the sections are not very intimidating and you won't get lost here.

A lovely ski resort perfect for beginners and low intermediate skiers. Advantages include wide gentle slopes and a charming small town vibe. Disadvantages are the longish traverses between lifts, which are aging and slow.

Yesterday we had a fantastic 5 star ski experience at Myoko Snowsports. My partner and I were true skiing beginners and instructors Kailey and Tom made the experience both truly pleasant and memorable. The last time my partner skii'd she actually had a terrible accident and injury so her confidence levels heading into the lesson with Kailey were pretty low. Kailey was nice enough to go through all the safety instructions and skiing basics to ensure she felt comfortable on the slopes. After an enjoyable morning on the mountain it was hard to get her out of the ski boots and into the cafe for a warm hot chocolate. We will definitely be returning to Myoko Snowsports in the future to try and improve our technique while enjoying the amazing views of the mountains. Thanks for all your assistance guys, 5 stars!!

Myoko Snowsports were excellent to deal with, from booking equipment and lessons on-line, making changes via email, and confirming everything. On arrival to get our gear all the staff were friendly and professional the equipment was to a high standard and the staff took the time to ensure it was adjusted to our needs and skiing ability. Our group lessons were brilliant, small groupings with typically 2 instructors. Over the week we had 5 or 6 different instructors as we moved up levels. Each instructor was enthusiastic and provided specific feedback to improve our skills and/or to meet the changing snow conditions. The team at Myoko Snowsports made our week such a wonderful experience. We will definitely use them again.

We started with no experience and managed to snowboard down the beginner course with turns by the 3rd day.. Good instructors, just make sure not to book blocks of ski lessons. They don't allow cancellations, even if it is pouring rain and your child may get sick. Better book a ski lesson day by day, it is the same price!

I highly recommend Myoko Snowsports for snowboarding lessons and equipment hire. The instructors are all English speaking with many who have worked at Falls Creek which was a big plus for us. Our son was thrilled when he was assigned the same instructor he had at Falls Creek and requested that he have him the following days, which they managed to accommodate. They were also very flexible with our bookings and nothing was too much trouble. The Panorama Cafe is also great for apre-ski and coffee.

My 7 yo daughter took 8-day full day lessens here at Myoko Snowsports. Her ski ability and confidence increased significantly during these 8 days while having a lot of fun with other kids and the instructors. The instructors made sure the kids get to learn in a relaxed and fun environment, we would definitely come back again!

First time skiing in 17 years - basically a beginner. Had an excellent experience from start to finish. Booking system was easy and user friendly, admin was responsive with online enquiries. I had Emily for two afternoon lessons - definitely worth the time and money! Provided me great drills and was clear / concise with her instructions. I absolutely cannot fault this company. Friendly, helpful staff who take that extra bit of time and care towards their customers. I was a first time snowboarder so booked consecutive lessons to build my skills over the week. The friendly admin staff booked the same instructor for me each time which greatly facilitated my progress and confidence with the coach. If you are wanting to learn how to snowboard or refine your existing skills, Myoko Snowsports is the one to book!

Today, I experienced my finest ski lesson since I began skiing, thanks to Andy, an exceptional Japanese ski instructor. His professionalism, dedication, and encouragement are unparalleled. He frequently paused to assess my progress and impressively skied backwards on an intermediate slope to observe my stance and provide guidance during turns. Moreover, our engaging conversations during the lift rides added to the enjoyment of the lesson.

Myoko Snowsports have great staff, from people helping with rentals to instructors. Thanks to instructor Andrew we progressed significantly over the 5 days. I went from being anxious about skiing steeper green runs to skiing some very steep reds. Recommend hiring your gear from their Akakura shop as you can store skis there overnight instead of dragging them over to your accommodation.

We booked private lessons at Arai Snow Resort for our family of four with no prior skiing experience. We were so blessed to have the same instructor, Tom F-W throughout our time there as he was very patient helping us go through the learning process. We enjoyed it so much that the whole family is eager for our next skiing trip. Thank you Myoko Snowsports for kick starting our skiing journey.

This myoko kogen is a great set of ski resorts. The snow was metres deep, the bars and food shops are good Great time to be visiting this area as the crowds have not yet found this great area.

Indeed great snow here but you'll get bored quickly with only two lifts, and one (the single pizzabox) was closed the day we came... The primary lift only accesses two runs, one groomed and one ungroomed.... Seems there is opportunity for a bit of exploration for backcountry deep powder, so snowboarders seem to love it here. We spent a half-day afternoon as a warm up to full days at the bigger resorts, not a bad option if you arrive around 12:30 and only 3000 yen. There are no crowds here but you could say that about anywhere in Myoko.... Slope-side restaurant was charming.

Seki onsen ski area is privately owned by a very nice and cool family. The runs are mostly in groomed and the food is home cooked style and it is THE BEST ski area lunch I have ever had in Japan! The onsen is also one not to be missed! The onsen is red in color and the aroma is amazingly calming! Check them out if you love ungroomed runs!

Super small, only two lifts, one of them is a sketchy one-seater. But a lot of fun on a powder day, lots of tree runs available. So if the snow is good, check this place for a day..

Wonderful, soulful ski area. This little area is legitimate, with lots of decent steep trees, nice sidecountry, and very few people. We drove over from Hakuba, and it was worth the drive.

Seki is the true freeriders mountain if you're into powder & I mean deep powder riding then this is the best place to be , in my 32 years of riding this little resort had the best powder I've experienced with pillows and more pillows of pow pow. not for inexperienced rider due to it's deepness , my partner almost drowned here here from too much power, avalanche kits are recommended & riding alone not really suggested.
