Izakaya Kaz
Izakaya restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Izakaya Kaz is a Japanese restaurant located near The Pub, marked by a set of red lanterns. Despite initial difficulties in securing a table, the friendly staff eventually accommodated the guests. Although there were some language barriers and apparent understaffing, the service remained attentive. The sukiyaki set for two, along with drinks and dessert, amounted to 10,200 for two people.
We didn’t go for the hot pot instead we had a mix of dishes. The four of us shared plenty dishes and tried different japonese drinks. We loved it. After 10 days in Japan and always looked at trying different food and we found this place one of the best we have been to.
Florian Guillemard — Google review
Great food. Book aheqd though. They fill up quickly.
Nate Wilson (natskis) — Google review
This place shares a building with The Pub but that’s where the similarities end. The food at The Pub was a bit disappointing, while at Isakaya Kaz, it was decidedly better. The prices are higher at Kaz and you will need a reservation, it’s still probably the best of the 2 places. The karaage was fantastic and the sake flight was amazing. They do have a lot of fish so if that’s not your cup of tea then The Pub might be more to your liking.

Super good sushi and tempura. The okonomiyaki was very rich and a little overwhelming

Food was tasty and service was fast. Was a little over priced.

Oh, what a phenomenal evening here. A friend found this lovely place and a group of 6 colleagues from Germany, Sweden and Japan enjoyed the time 100%.
Dirk Hartmann — Google review
The best meal we had in Hakuba. Delicious food and super attentive service.
Anthony Hughes — Google review
Really delicious, especially for a restaurant that caters specifically to hotels! We did the sukiyaki and thought it was incredible.
Naomi Lopes — Google review
Amazing food and amazing service. Definitely book ahead and make a reservation because this place is worth it. The sashimi is locally sourced and so fresh, you can taste good produce when it comes to sashimi and nigiri. Service were so friendly especially for foreigners and their sake options were stellar. Do hope they add more hot sake to the list, but the one they had was amazing! Wish we could book again but it’s very busy for a good reason.
Erin — Google review
Great service and friendly staff but we did not enjoy the food so much. We tried both the Kaz and Mansaku and both used the same shabu beef quality which was horrible. Convenient since we are staying at the hotel. But definitely not a repeat.
Myia Garcia — Google review
When we couldn’t get a table at Mansaku, we were looking for another Japanese restaurant nearby. We saw a set of red lanterns next to “The Pub.”
At first the receptionist said the restaurant was full, however, we could see empty tables. We insisted and she finally agreed to seat us (otherwise, I would give it 5-stars).
The staff has limited English but was very friendly. Although seemed short staffed for a full restaurant, they were attentive.
With a sukiyaki set for 2, with drinks and dessert, we paid ¥10,200 for 2 pax.
The food was excellent, the sukiyaki sauce was not overly sweet or salty.
Warning: the ventilation is not great, so your clothes will smell!

It is the amusement park where you can feel the Showa era.
Adults can enjoy it like a child.
In addition to rides, there are large-scale athletics and rainbow trout fishing.
Vehicles are very reasonably priced.
You can pay for the rides after purchasing the admission ticket, or purchase a free pass, or divide your family according to the age of the child.
There was also Jiro-inspired ramen for snacks. You can also make garlic better!
All the staff were very kind and helpful.

It’s a great place to take kids out for the entire day. Some rides could be updated, but it's a fun place to play.
I recommend the adventure park located with the park. It is quite big and there is plenty of space to be wild. It's easy to lose track of time and spend a few hours at this attraction. There's forts, zip lines, places to climb and hike. Enjoy your visit!

If you decide to take your kids here, you’d better prepare your own food and drink. Imagine you have to wait in line for 30-40’ and eat junk food under the heat and noise. It’s frustrating.

I visited with my 1 year and 8 month old daughter and husband on Sunday at the end of May (noon).
The parking lot was crowded (although I put it in right away) here is the parking lot! ? It was such a place, but the park was really wide and it was so crowded that even if there were a lot of visitors, it wasn't too crowded ^ _ ^
If you turn 2 years old, you will be able to ride almost all attractions, so I think it would be better to have a free pass, but this time I was a 1-year-old child, so I just paid the entrance fee!
It was within a limited time, but I think that it is a facility where you can really spend a whole day.
If you don't ride a vehicle, you can play around for almost free, so if you're looking for a place to play with small children and a car, I definitely recommend this place★
It costs 400 yen separately, but it seems that my daughter loved the NHK collaboration square, so she just played for more than an hour lol
Parents can enjoy it more than they thought!
When I turn two years old, I will be able to ride a roller coaster, so I definitely want to visit again at that time (^_^)
The cast members were also kind and nice.

We visited on a Friday so it wasn't crowded at all and we spent 5 hours here with our 4-year-old. The outdoor forest adventure area was my favourite as the weather was great and the autumn colours were beautiful. The tree houses were very cute and there was a lot to explore. There is a small river where you can do trout-fishing and have grilled fish afterwards (note that you can only catch up to 2 fish and to minimise the waiting time, the fish that you eat is not the one that you catch). The view from the giant ferris wheel was spectacular. The rides were simple but perfect for young children. Overall, we had an enjoyable time outdoors on a perfect autumn day and the free pass was well worth it (2,600yen for adults and 2,400yen for children discounted).

I thought it was a facility that children from 0 years old could enjoy. My child was the first toy kingdom at 9 months. Big kids have rides and little ones have a playroom, so it seemed okay to go with siblings.
In the playroom, there were wooden toys, Anpanman, Mel-chan, Rika-chan, Sylvanian Families, and so on.
Suitable for both boys and girls.
It seems that there is a nursing room and you can get hot water, so it is safe.
The facility is not new, but I wanted to go again.

The climbing and play area in the forest is nice and quite large. The rides are typical of small theme parks. Very short, very small and generally only good for kids under 8. Wait times were very short otherwise none of the rides would be worth anyone's time.
Bob Bobson — Google review
Excellent amusement park for kids ages 1-8. The athletics area is the best area, similar to the forest adventure for kids. If they want to go one the rides I’d recommend getting a one day pass, but if they are content to just playing with toy’s then an entrance ticket is enough
Hikaru Shimonaka — Google review
It is a shame. The biggest attraction (kids adventure) is closed under perfect sunny weather. Staff said strong winds (no proof), and not shown in any app or sensed by anyone but herself.
No refund, no notice before entry. It’s just a scam.
Felix Chu — Google review
Small, simple, but wonderful park for younger kids. So much to cover in a day. The wooded action park is SUPER fun as well but we needed more time than the hour limit.
Lucas Chen — Google review
There's a good day's worth of content here. Friendly staff. There's a nice wooded adventure course and more traditional theme park rides. There are also big air conditioned rooms full of toys from various makers. We could have spent a few more hours here. Definitely worth getting the day pass.

If you have kids, definitely visit this place. we had a lot of fun and it was a productive day we spent with our child!
The Onioshidashi Volcanic Park is a magnificent location with paved pathways surrounded by rugged lava rock, seasonal azaleas and an exquisite view of the active Mount Asama in Japan. The park was formed by volcanic sediment deposited during the 1783 big eruption of Mount Asama. Visitors can explore various trails inside the park guided by boards, and a ticket purchase includes a guide.
I loved this place so much . Very good land scape from both side . Stones are very beautiful. They are made by lava . It’s not like other mountains. There is a shrine also . Highly recommended to this place and when you go to this place by car there will be beautiful drive road you have to pay 280 yen toll for that but you will enjoy drive through there

An underrated place to visit, filled with spectacular vistas of the surrounding areas filled with snow capped mountains and numerous lava rock formations
We tried to source for the timetable for the Seibu bus online before our trip but to no avail. We dropped by the Tourist Information centre and the friendly lady explained the timetable for the bus to the park to us. She also explained the availability of a 2-days bus pass which can be bought from the bus driver. This pass costs 2,000 yen and it already easily covered the price of a one day return trip to the volcanic park, if we had paid by cash or SUICA for each trip individually.
The first bus to the park leaves JR Karuizawa Station Bus stop 1 at 10am and the next at 11.55am. We spent about 3 hours strolling in the park taking in the spectacular vistas of the valleys draped in beautiful fall colors with Mount Asama and the surrounding mountains in the background.
We took the return bus at 1.30pm from the park back to Karuizawa. Each trip took about 45minutes.
It was an extremely magical experience and having been to a similar park in Iceland, this volcanic park in Japan easily trumps the one in every aspect. There were limited international tourists given how little information was available online on public transport to the park.
Dion Chan — Google review
Beautiful place, so quiet and stunning views. Good infrastructure. There’s accessibility too, good for disabled persons.
Sadami Yoshida — Google review
Great experience especially the view and fresh air and the bell tower! You can see really far away. You will need to pay for ticket and parking is free. Toilet before entering into the ticket gate as well as there are buses that comes here.
Do check out luminous moss, bell tower and if you have time do the long route. If not just make it to the bell tower and the kannon, goddess of mercy temple. The fire kannon, is just a painting seems less authentic and not worth the walk.
Recommend coming in spring and summer when mountain flowers blossom.
There are steep road with higher attitude but have a few sitting areas on the way.
Winter on a Monday was very quiet with most shops closed
C. M. — Google review
Expensive (adults 700 yen, children 500 yen) and the scenery is not particularly pretty - just a paced path among volcanic rocks. Perhaps it's nice in autumn?
Lorenzo Colitti — Google review
This place worth the visit, easy access, amazing history and views. Mount Asama, an active volcano, had a big eruption in 1783, covered over a town, basically like the Pompei of Japan. Today, there is a shrine out on the hardened magma lava rock fields, easy paved trails to get up close, and spectacular views. Also surprised to see photos of John Lennon when he visited.
Harold Archer — Google review
This place was an amazing place. According to the Japan-guide website this park is shaped by volcanic sediment deposited here during the 1783 big eruption of Mount Asama. You can have the best view of Month Asama from here. Also There is a Japanese Shrine. There are different trails to go inside the park. All trails are guided by boards and they will give a guide when you purchase the ticket. Entrance ticket was 650円 and parking is free of charge.
Udayanga Senanayake — Google review
Nice volcanic national park, located about 30 minutes drive north of Karuizawa, just across the border into Gunma. Lush greenery all around. Well laid out paths. Short route (~40 minutes) is scenic with views of the crater and a walk through the forest. The longer route (~70 minutes) undulates around the crater with slopes up and down throughout. Friendly staff in the information centre.
Jason Chuei — Google review
The weather wasn’t great during our visit, so we couldn’t see Mount Asama. It was fine as we had a hike planned for the next day. But I’d suggest coming on a clear day if you can. The landscape is stunning with interesting volcanic rock formations from the big eruption of Mount Asama, and you can even spot seasonal plants and flowers growing near the lava. It really reminds you of the power and beauty of nature.
Right at the center of the park, there’s a Buddhist temple dedicated to Kannon, linked to Ueno’s Kaneiji Temple in Tokyo. There are also souvenir shops and a restaurant. Parking is free.
Maria — Google review
Great view over Mount Asama as well as the lava rocks that were formed from the eruption of the volcano. We headed there around noon on a Saturday, and the park was still pleasantly quiet and there were not many others around, making it a very peaceful experience. There are several trails to choose from within the park, with several sitting areas along the way.
Access-wise, Seibu buses run straight from Karuizawa station, but infrequently, especially on weekends.
Vicky Ng — Google review
It is a place where you can feel the earth is alive. The air is still. You should reserve at least one hour to walk the longest route slowly. You can see a plume of smoke at the top of Mt. Asama. You will be able to reconfirm that this mountain is an active volcano.
Taiju Suzuki — Google review
In addition to looking at the landscape lights of volcanic lava, the surrounding scenery is also very good.
Since the distance is far from the urban area, and it is very dark in autumn and winter, it is also recommended that you come to visit earlier.

Just in front of the Fujida cave entrance so enjoy both the cave and the walk on the sky across this bridge. Theres a restaurant and camping area on the other side but was closed during my visit in February, maybe due to corona. Not much shops in the area so be prepared before hand. The drive will be beautiful surrounded by nature and road runs parallel to the river most of the way. Stunning area, beautiful.

Nice to see, takes just an hour or so unless you intend to have lunch or camp.
There is on-site parking (free as of Oct 2023) and plenty of restrooms with a nice snack bar.
The bridge has several bubble machines, so if you wear contact lens protect your eyes.
Worth a side trip but not a destination.
Recommend.
P W — Google review
Stunning views from this skybridge 2700 feet above sea level. The valley below is about 2000~2100 feet above sea level. If you are afraid of heights its best to walk across when there is no-one else on it as it does shake when there is a group on it or if kids are running across it.
There is a coin box at the entrance and they request 100 yen per person over 6 years old for passage.
The bridge is accessible from Mahobanomori campsite, but you don't have to be a guest of the site to use the bridge - its open to the public. There is a playground across the otherside.

Very interesting cave. I came on a really hot summer day and it was perfect because the inside of the cave is really cold! Throughout the caves there are many interesting facts and names of different points in the cave. I was lucky and saw two bats on my way out as well.
It does take a little effort to get through the complete course as it is fairly steep and some places are slippery. Other than that, i thought it was fun and the outside path back down was a little scary but beautiful nonetheless.

Small ski resort with kid-friendly slopes, a dessert shop & sweeping views across the Japanese Alps.
A cozy small family-oriented ski area. Hills may be too easy for adults but good for kids. The Chateraise brand of cakes and bread gives an extra delight for kids.

Just had my first ski lesson. Highly recommended. Paid for 121 as learning nihongo and felt I might struggle in a group. The school paired me with a young instructor named Kai-san....who was awesome...5-star.
Very professional...extremely skilled at teaching....totally fluent in English.
I felt he increased the difficulty of instruction in perfect unison with my capability, so I was never scared and never bored. Also, I felt safe because he was always right there ready to catch me and frequently offering rests...which I finally did need because after 10 runs my thigh muscles became tired (btw he was Japan national champion so demonstrated technique literally backwards in front of me!).
Kids did a group lesson and had amazing fun too. Ended up much faster than me (thought I was flying...then they waved as they zoomed past me!).
Regarding the resort itself: Honestly I'm not experienced, but found this resort great. There are 5 slopes with differing difficulties (I only tried first 2 levels) and I rented the gear from the venue. Food is reasonably priced and Tonkatsu curry tastey imo.
Great day.

Shosenkyo Gorge, located in Yamanashi, Japan, is a must-visit destination in autumn. This 1,250-square-kilometer area is part of the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park and offers stunning valleys, forested mountains, and charming rural towns. The gorge is famous for its breathtaking autumn foliage that explodes in vibrant shades of yellow, brown, orange, and red from early to mid-November.
Shōsenkyō Gorge as a whole is a beautiful and serene destination, easily accessed from Kofu. We arrived at Shōsenkyō Taki Ue on the local bus (IC card accepted) and commenced our adventure, starting with the ropeway, having lunch at a local soba shop and descending on foot through the gorge itself to the Greenline Shōsenkyō bus stop. The gorge hosts amazing scenery including Senga (Sengataki) Falls and a rushing river which runs parallel to the stone walkway. There is no entry fee required here, simply follow the path until you wish to exit. The route we took is fairly easy, and being downhill would be suitable for younger children.

Came for photos in early Nov. There's enough red and yellow foliage for good pictures but it's probably more colorful in mid November I'd think.
There are several hiking options depending on how much time you have. We went with the faster route and also took the cable car to the summit. It was a pretty easy walk with lots of opportunities for photos. Hiking shoes are not necessary (maybe in the winter though).
There are also several food shops, souvenir shops and vending machines along the way, so you don't need to take a bunch of food and drink with you if you don't want to.
For our group of 4, it was roughly the same price taking the bus vs taxi. The taxi is slightly less rough than the bus if someone is prone to car sickness.

Really nice hiking area with multiple lots of free parking. All of the main paths are paved so it is more like a walk rather than a hike. Their are also vending machines, restrooms and food stalls along the path. Best to arrive in the morning to beat most of the crowds.
Also, there is a lot of construction on the way up and down the mountain, just be prepared.
I went on a rainy day in mid November, which is the perfect time to go because the autumn maple leaves look amazing! The hike could have been marked better with more English assistance, but otherwise it was pretty easy. The green line bus is reasonably priced, but comes about once an hour, so be careful about your return. I would highly recommend this hike!

Shosenkyo is a nice place for hiking because its mountain view is awesome. I recommend people who are planning to go to Kofu area to go Shosenkyo. For people who are planning to go, I recommended them to check which bus lines are available because some bus lines are closed during the winter time.

(Translated by Google) The best day spa-like hot spring facility!
It is a long-established hot spring inside a roadside station, and it seems to have alkaline water, but it is clean and has a wide variety of baths, including indoor baths, jacuzzis, saunas, cascading baths, lying baths, open-air baths, barrel baths (event baths), and kettle baths. It's also good
The facility also has hammocks and plenty of nap rooms where you can take a break.
In particular, there is a wide variety of manga, including old masterpieces, the latest hot topics, manga award-winning works, and hidden masterpieces with staff recommended pop-ups, so if you are a manga lover, you can enjoy it for a long time just for that purpose.
It's also nice that there is free Wi-Fi in the hotel.
There is also a courtyard, and the rest area is decorated with ceramic works and the hallways are decorated with artwork, making it very stylish.
The restaurants are generally reasonably priced, and although the Tama Genryu Gozen is a bit pricey, I was very satisfied!
Seasonal butterbur peppers and maitake mushroom tempura that go well with soba, freshly grated wasabi rice, and Fujinosuke (king salmon) sashimi are all delicious.
It takes a long time to grill when it's crowded, but the salt-grilled mountain fish is soft and really delicious.
As a restaurant with a hot spring attached, I was very satisfied!
Some of the vending machines inside the building require cash, but the reception and restaurants are generally cashless, and I personally have a very good impression that the various lockers do not require coins.
The entrance fee is 800 yen and the rental towel set is 200 yen, which is quite reasonable.
Although it is difficult to get to due to its location, it is the best healing place as a rest area near the prefectural border.
There are roadside stations and outdoor facilities nearby, so it's good for sightseeing.
This is a recommended hot spring facility.

Takeda Shrine is a Shinto shrine that boasts of a remarkable display of Takeda weapons and fall foliage. This historical attraction is surrounded by moats and features an array of Shingen theme charms, katana swords, kabutos helmets, scrolls, and banners used in battle. Visitors are treated to the beauty of the lush surroundings any time of day while enjoying the traditional hostels or watching a Noh stage performance.
I recently visited Takeda Shrine, and it exceeded all my expectations! If you're a Japan history buff like me, this place is a must-visit. Nestled in a serene setting, Takeda Shrine offers a fascinating journey into the rich history of the Takeda clan, particularly during the reign of Takeda Shingen.
The highlight for history enthusiasts is undoubtedly the museum dedicated to the Takeda clan. It provides an in-depth look into the life and times of Takeda Shingen, showcasing artifacts, relics, and informative displays that transport you back to that era. The attention to detail is commendable, making it a truly immersive experience.
The serene surroundings also make it a peaceful escape for families looking to enjoy some quality time together.

During my early college years, I had to do a report on Takeda Shingen. Years later on this day, I had the honor of visiting a shrine dedicated to him. The shrine has an array of Shingen theme charms and you can even purchase a small scale size of his banner.
Unfortunately the Shingen museum was closed due some renovations, but artifacts site was open and there were plenty of historic displays including katanas, kabutos, scrolls, and banner used in battle.

The bronze statue of Takeda Shingen in front of JR Kofu Station is a tourist spot that many tourists visit as a symbol of Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
A majestic appearance befitting the strongest commander of the Sengoku period. The 3.1m high brave statue is even more powerful when viewed from below.
In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom on both sides of the bronze statue, and the contrast with Shingen, who has a stately atmosphere, is beautiful, making it a perfect spot for taking commemorative photos. At the time of its installation, there was an unprecedented “Sengoku military commander boom” caused by the NHK Taiga drama “Ten to Chi to”.
The Shingen-ko Festival held on the day of the statue's unveiling ceremony is said to attract as many as 150,000 tourists from inside and outside the prefecture.
The statue is modeled after the battle of Kawanakajima, with a strategist in his right hand and a rosary in his left hand. You can see the majestic appearance befitting a great commander, who manipulated the Koshu army corps, which was proud of its elite during the Sengoku period, as he wished.

The information board had the following information:
Lord Takeda Shingen (Takeda Daizendayu Shinanokami Shingen)
November 3rd, 1521 - April 12th, 1573
Takeda Shingen was born as the eldest son of Nobutora Takeda and his wife Oi. When he became an adult, he took the name Harunobu, but Shingen, as he is generally known, is his Buddhist name.
In Tenbun 10 (1541), he exiled his father Nobutora to Suruga and became the guardian of Kai, conquered Shinano, opposed Uesugi Kenshin, and fought five battles at Kawanakajima.
Afterwards, he joined forces with Shogun Yoshiaki Ashikaga and other anti-Oda Nobunaga forces, led the Kai corps, which was hailed as the strongest in the Sengoku period, and plotted to advance into Kyoto, defeating Tokugawa Ieyasu at Mikatagahara. Tensho 1 (1573)
He became ill during the capture of Noda Castle in Mikawa. I handed it over at my workplace in Ina, Shinano Province, on my way back to Japan. He passed away at the age of fifty-three. Mourning was kept secret for three years, and a funeral was held at Erin-ji Temple in 1983.
He displayed outstanding skills as a civil politician and devoted himself to the management of his territory, including the enactment of the Koshu Act and the flood control work known as the Shingen Embankment.

Kōfu Castle Ruins, located in Maizuru Castle Park, is the remains of a 16th-century hilltop castle built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and later fortified by Tokugawa Ieyasu. It is one of the most important castles in the Kanto area and offers a unique view of Mt. Fuji in the background. While the castle itself has been restored, its surrounding stone walls are over 400 years old and designated as a historic site.
Walking towards the castle grounds, I glanced backwards and caught a glimpse of a mountain peak through the clouds in the distance. Could it really be? My pace increased as I entered the well-kept grounds and climbed the stone steps making my way to the viewing platform. The last step had arrived and the clouds began to clear. And just like that, the elusive Fujisan appeared. Whilst I’ve seen Fuji from afar, seeing it that bit closer is a bit more special. Pleasant place to visit all around, beautiful gardens and peaceful atmosphere. If only someone would knock down that inconveniently placed metal tower…

The grounds are not extensive, but the main hall is impressive and has an attractive weathered appearance. There is also a 'hell' in the pitch-black basement that visitors can go through to feel for a lock which adds to the experience.

Lovely peaceful park. Statue is Kannon, Konzeon Bosatsu. Nice halo. Beautiful coloring. Avalokitesvara of Lotus Sutra, Renge Kyo, who takes form of Quan Shi Yin, who is Konzeon Bosatsu. Avalokitesvara is a central figure in Buddhism who is the compassion of all Buddhas and the Bodhisattva of compassion. A Bosatsu has abandoned the self-interest of their own rest in Nirvana / Nibbana to continue in service to all sentient beings. Buddhist teachings from Nichiren in the 1200's have emphasized Lotus Sutra and have led to proliferation of statuary showing the wide variety of forms of the Bodhisattva of Compassion.

The overwhelming collapse preservation gravel and the scenery of the mountains were wonderful
Text
I visited when I visited Shioyu Onsen.
The collapsed preserved gravel looked a little artistic, and the sight that would have been formed by the collapse of many rocks was overwhelming, including its scale and size.
Also, when I looked at the other side from the collapsed gravel, the Koshibu River flowed in the center, and the mountains surrounded it, and the scenery reminiscent of a valley spread out.
Mt. Akaishi with snow-covered scenery in the distance, combined with the vast, idyllic and natural scenery
It was a very nice view.
I visited at a time when it seemed out of winter, so it was very quiet and healed with few people.
However, I think that the scenery ahead will be more beautiful when it comes to the spring and fresh green seasons.
It was a better place than I expected. Also, if I have a chance to come to Oshika, I would like to stop by.

Even when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, there are few tourists and you can enjoy the view in peace. I visited during Golden Week, and there were only 2 or 3 groups of people using it, so I was able to relax and have fun.
The playground equipment was in the shadow of the mountain in the afternoon, so it was cool to play.
The toilet was also clean and spacious.
I would definitely like to visit during the cherry blossom season.

I noticed that there was something that looked like a park at the foot of the mountain across the river from the parking lot in front of the restaurant "Deer Eater" that appeared in the movie "Oshika Village Incident", so I googled it. Turn around the intersection near the roadside station Oshika Village and go up to the big parking lot 🅿.
It is said that it was built to pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the great mountain collapse that occurred in 1963, and for the reconstruction of the village. Unfortunately, there was no one there due to the rain, but you can see Oshika Village along the river. There were also a lot of cherry blossom trees, so I think it's a famous spot for cherry blossoms. There are also children's games. Now it's free. It's a place I would like to visit again.

Ina Valley, where we live, is a region rich in beautiful nature surrounded by the Central Alps to the west and the Southern Alps to the east. However, sometimes beautiful nature can be violent. In 1961, heavy rains hit Ina Valley due to an approaching typhoon and a stagnant seasonal rain front, causing river flooding, debris flows, and landslides in various parts of Ina Valley. It was a disaster of such magnitude that it is said that it only occurs once every few decades or once every hundred years. Some villages have had their houses and fields washed away by the debris flow, and some have been flooded with water, while others have been completely destroyed by the debris flow. Okawara, Oshika, Shimoina District, Nagano 399-3502, Japan
The Saruhashi bridge is a unique and historically significant wooden bridge located in a scenic park filled with maple and ginkgo trees that are particularly popular during autumn. With dimensions of 30.9m length, 3.3m width, and 31m height, it is supported by four layers of Hanegi without any piers. The well-constructed bridge provides stunning views of the surrounding water body and is connected to a museum via stairs leading down from the park.
The Saruhashi Bridge (猿橋) is also known as the 'monkey bridge'. Spanning the gorge of the Katsura River, it is a prime example of the hanebashi design. The bridge is supported by a series of cantilever beams set in the opposing cliff faces. Built mid-18th century, the Saruhashi was along the Koshu Kaido (main highway of the Edo period). We briefly stopped to enjoy the elegant design of the bridge and the scenic beauty of the gorge filled with ginkgo and maple trees.
The name 'monkey bridge' is associated with a local legend in which monkeys bridged the chasm with their bodies so that a couple could cross during the Nara period. A later story tells that the original rickety plank structure was so precarious that "only an agile monkey could cross it".

It’s historically important wood bridge, Saruhashi. It’s so beautiful.
With a length of 30.9m, a width of 3.3m, and a height of 31m, it is a special one that does not use piers at all, and is supported by four layers of ”Hanegi” that overhang from both banks that rise sharply.

Bridge and river are nice but the view is ruined by the 3 other modern bridges they've built right next to it. Still, if you're in the area it's worth a walk over. The river looks good for a swim the summer too.

Saruhashi Bridge, which spans the deep and beautiful valley of the Katsuragawa River, is called one of Japan's three strange bridges, along with ``Iwakuni Kintai Bridge'' and ``Kiso Pier'' due to its unusual structure. The unique scenery of the bridge, which spans a beautiful valley that changes with the seasons, is said to be one of the most scenic spots on the Koshu Highway, and has been visited by many writers and artists. Among them, Hiroshige Utagawa (Ando) was so moved by the beauty of Saruhashi that he left behind a book called ``Koyo Saruhashi no Zu''.

If you are interested in trains you can easily spend 2-3 hours here. They do an excellent job of catering to foreign visitors with many of the displays, pamphlets and cinema experience subtitles offered in Japanese and English. To see the test runs, check the website calendar to see which days the tests will be run. Staff do not know when exactly the train will pass by. They run multiple tests per day and you can see on the screens/ hear in the (Japanese only) announcements when the train is about to pass by. Over the course of our 3 hour morning visit we saw the train go by about 8-10 times. There is a space on the second floor (both in the main building and the souvenir shop) with vending machines where you can sit and eat.

I stopped by on my way home from a day trip the other day.
Since I was a child, I was interested in it every time I ran on the Ken-O Expressway on family trips, but as an adult I was finally able to visit.
The parking lot at the facility is very large and easy to park.
In addition, although it is small, the walkway to the Doki Doki Maglev Museum has a roof, which was very helpful as it was raining that day.
The maglev tour center is very clean, and there are restrooms, shops, etc.
It was very beautiful.
Also, a demonstration event was being held just at the time we visited, and the moderator was giving a detailed explanation and demonstration. I think that both children and adults can enjoy it because it explains in detail how the linear system floats and how it works.
* I am an adult, but I think it is perfect for children's free research.
Also, the quality of the diorama that introduces tourist facilities in Yamanashi Prefecture is very good.
I wasn't able to see it, but there was also a day when they were doing a powerful test run.
It seems that it is better to check in advance if you are interested.
*I could not see the test run, but I enjoyed it very much.
I love museums like this, so I hope they will continue to be open for a long time to come.
We are looking forward to the operation in 2027.

Unfortunately, foreign tourists are unable to apply for a test ride. But the rest of the exhibition centre is still great, with some of the best foreign language support in Japan. The staffs are knowledgeable and welcoming as well. Definitely recommend for train lovers and families.

Thanks to the governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, the maglev train is booming. The name of the souvenir shop is "STORE2027", but I wonder if it will change if the opening is postponed...
By the way, this facility is located in Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Along the national highway from Shizuoka, there are supermarkets, home centers, electronics stores, etc., and the impression is that it is a very livable town. In fact, I see new detached houses here and there.
The Linear Observation Center is located in the mountains on the outskirts of such a town, surrounded by idyllic rural scenery.
The parking lot for general cars is a little far from the facility, and you need to be careful with strollers because it is a slope.
This time, my family was 0 and 2 years old and it seemed difficult to stay for a long time, so we only used "Pounding Linear Hall".
420 yen per adult. cheap.
Although we didn't get to see the train in action, we were very satisfied with the spectacular contents, such as the actual linear motor car, various materials, a mini-maglev train, and a tour of experiments.
There is also a kids' room, but due to corona measures, reservations are required and the area in the kids' room is limited (don't you think that children can be protected?).

Dream of a swinging train, almost fly in the air. A linear motor produces straight-line motion rather than rotation. The Superconducting Maglev levitates about 4 inches above the guideway and travels up to 311mph. Magnetic force prevents the train from crashing into guideway walls.
The magnets employed are superconducting, which means that when they are cooled to less than 450 degrees Fahrenheit below zero, they can generate magnetic fields up to 10 times stronger than ordinary electromagnets, enough to suspend and propel a train.
Superconductors only gain their superconducting powers at these really cold temperatures. In their super conducting state, they will levitate on a magnetic track because at this super cold temperature the electrons in the atoms of the ceramic material interact with the magnetic fields from the magnets on the track.

Alrighty - Full English guide for it:
Worth a visit! But only on test days, otherwise the train is not running between the stations. You will find the test days on the website. On the day I was there, itkept running between the stations every 5-10minutes, you will be able to photograph it from both directions very frequently.
You will NOT be able to ride the train, this is not happening here and only possible as japanese citizen plus months or years of waiting in advance (and I think it is a lottery).
A bit annoying to get to, either you get off at Kasei station when coming from Mt Fuji, or Tanokura station when coming from Tokyo. From both it is around 20min walking, while from Kasei station with additional steep walk! Rely on Google Maps, that works fine - although there are no signs pointing the way. Couldnt find any bus connection directly to the centre. You could also walk from the JR station from Otsuki, but this will take 1hr, however you would be able to reach the centre with the JR Pass, as the stations beyond Otsuki are not operated by JR and therefore you need to pay (and it’s comparatively expensive). Bring a Suica or Pasmo Card, as the ticket machine at Tanokura is not working!
If you have a car - easy going, free parking lot.
The Maglev exhibition centre is between the two ends, so you will be able to experience the roughly 500km/h outside on a terrace or inside from the observatory for 420 yen. There is also a free observatory about 50m further.
The exhibition is well made, and there will be a big explanation about the used tecnique, however most will be in japanese. Nice little shop, total of 3 floors, free coin locker available (100yen deposit).
Overall 5 stars (on test days), minus half for accessibility by public transport.
Eike der Wikinger — Google review
Ideally a visit here will include a ride on the Maglev train. However, if that is not possible and you don't speak Japanese than an hour will be more than enough to see the museum. There are exhibits explaining the science behind magnetic levitation, but there is no English. The rest of the exhibits are totally aimed at children and can be enjoyed regardless of language. A really good rainy day option.
Judy OBrien — Google review

It's a great place to witness the past and the future, as well as the ongoing developments of the Japanese superconducting maglev. The small museum houses an original maglev cab and the magnets themselves too. Most of the information is written in Japanese only, the occasional demo about how superconductivity works is also conducted in Japanese only. There is a viewing platform so one can watch the maglev test-runs on selected days. There is also a small park across the tracks where one can get an even better view on this section of the future Chuo shinkansen.

This place is impressively huge and one of the best tax free shopping experiences I've had.
There are several zones and plenty of food options available, so you can choose to spend an entire day here. I spent about 1.5 hours and it's seriously too short. I would recommend 3-4 hours for shopping alone, and perhaps 5-6 if wish to factor in meal time and perhaps factor in entertainment for the kids.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well thought the outdoor mall is, with impressive playground and a mini theme park to keep younger children engaged.
This is my first trip, but I'll definitely return again for at least 4-6 hours in the near future.

This place is an aging gem. The prices can be beaten and the grounds are naturally beautiful set with Fuji-San as a fantastic backdrop. There are sign of wear and some best-effort managed vegetation growth, but it’s not worth thinking about. The splash pad and water slide were my 4 year olds favorite. Also, the canoe/kayak route is free! It’s a great place to take a leisurely hike around. 5-stars for stress free fun!

It is a nice place to take younger children to enjoy nature and play outdoors. It is best to bring picnic type lunch with you. You can enjoy an entire day outside walking o trails, children riding ponies, trips on the water in boats. There is frisbee golf and grand golf. There is not a lot for you to purchase inside the park so best come prepared with drinks and snacks as needed. If you don’t have children but an a nice place to walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery this is o e of those places.

My family loves visiting Mt. Fuji Children's world! In August you can visit their beetle exhibit and hold stag or Hercules beetles. My children love the waterside and "ninja" water run. The highlight for us is always the fishing pond, where we catch and grill our lunch, as they will gut the fish you catch. It's a great place to enjoy with kids, lots of beautiful nature to see. Be sure to plan to spend the entire day here, as there is so much to do and you won't want to leave!

Awesome place to another view of Mt fuji.
Less one star because we arrived 45 mins earlier to attempt to enter to play for a short while but they wouldn't sell. Couldn't see what's inside

Very sad run down amusement park. Poorly maintained equipment. Only fit for kids under 5 maybe, 1300 y for kids to get in, annoying music player throughout the park. Rollercoaster not operating. Nothing teen could play. Everything is rusted out n poorly maintained. Lots of broken concrete. Don't think it will be in operation soon. Family of 4 will set you back $120'Aud n it's just a waste of your money and time.
Nestled in a picturesque setting, the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, also known as Hakone Garasu no Mori or Hakone Glass Forest, is a delightful museum that focuses on Venetian glassware. It boasts an impressive collection of exquisite glass pieces from various periods, with a special emphasis on those from the Venetian Renaissance.
Absolutely gorgeous! I went with a small group of people and we took some great photos and had a good time walking around the museum. The sights are beautiful, and the entry fee is extremely affordable. There's places to eat, relax, and simply enjoy the views as well. Loved every second of this place, bring your cameras!

This was such a amazing museum. There are both Japanese and English explanations, but not for all pieces. Still, it was very informative and outright stunning.
There was practically no wait to get in. But if you don't like the wait, be sure to buy tickets online (you'll also get a discount).
Definitely a must-see if you're visiting Hakone!

My favourite museum I’ve visited in Japan. So unexpected and the pictures don’t even begin to scratch the surface of how beautiful this place is. The restaurant inside was also 5 stars, a perfect spot for our anniversary overlooking the sparkling garden.

A nice, elegant, beautiful museum. If you like shiny objects and glitters, you will love this place in Hakone. There is also a restaurant inside, but it was very crowded. I enjoyed window shopping the great variety of objects on display. There was also a bell for lovers so I think this is a nice place to bring a date, specially if you are both young.

It is hard to capture the shunning lights by a camera but it is really amazing while you see the scene by your own eyes. A place for lunch or some food while visiting the area. Bus access is very convenient. You can also spend times seeing the exhibits indoors.

Such a nice museum. We went there when it was raining, and it made the museum more mystical. You can see so many glass collections and art, and of course you can also buy it on souvenir shop. They also have classes to make your own glass art. One unique thing, they have a store selling jams! But one thing to be prepared, there is no train heading to this museum, either you take your own vehicle or you take the bus. Which can be nauseating since it has so many winding roads. For people who easily get carsick, be mentally prepared.
Also, if you're a student, you will get student price to enter this museum. I say that's really great deal. Just tell them you're a student and show your student ID.

Tourist trap. Better described as the Impractical Drinking Vessel Museum. You pay 1800¥ to enter what felt like a shop. So, I'd say it's not worth going unless you have a real love for all things venetian glass or have nothing else to do and a pass that lets you get in for free.
A point of redemption was that the grounds were pretty nice and well kept, and there was a lovely place to sit and watch the creek and trees.

Went there on a weekday. Admission fee is 1800 yen per adult. Parking is 300 yen.
Good for a short visit if you have some time to spend around the area, but I wouldn't recommend going out of the way to visit it. It was quite quiet when we were there. The place was quite small, so we completed our round within an hour. The experience workshops require prior reservations, so we didn't try those. Overall, a nice place for some photo taking~

This is Japan’s first art museum specializing in Venetian glass, and exhibits works from the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries and also modern pieces. The pond on the grounds is in between the Venetian Glass Museum and the Modern Glass Museum where you can appreciate delicate glass crafts at each respective museum. Its medieval Venice-inspired garden also has spots where you can take photos. Listen carefully to the live canzone (Italian song) performances held every day while gazing at the scenery from the café restaurant on the grounds and you’re sure to find yourself feeling elegant. They also hold glasswork workshops, making this a spot you can enjoy all day long.

Beautiful place! I suggest you visit this place during a sunny afternoon, when the glass beads shine the brightest! It is also pretty at night, but I found the afternoon option do be more beautiful. It IS a museum and has tons of glass artifacts (I am no glass enthusiast, so I didn’t find it any more interesting). However, the artifacts were very unique and pretty. There’s also a shop, which is quite expensive, considering a glass bracelet for around $500! Overall, a great place to go in Hakone!

A great museum to visit. There were lots of unique glass artwork to see. The Hakone free pass also gives you 100 yen off admission. They claim there are free coin lockers but it actually costs 100 yen.

Very pretty place for photos and see the glassworks. Not super impressive and it is a little pricey compared to the rest of the attractions. I preferred my time at the open air museum for my money's worth instead. Some pieces were pretty, some normal, and pretty much a quarter of the time spent at the gift shop to shop for glass and crystals works.

Nestled in the serene natural beauty of Hakone, Japan, the Pola Museum of Art is a modern museum that boasts a unique underground design and offers visitors a forest trail experience. Established in 2002 by the Pola Art Foundation, this museum showcases an impressive private art collection amassed over 40 years by Tsuneshi Suzuki.
It was so incredible to see Monet's paintings in person. The outside area was really nice to walk through as well. It was so surreal to walk through the trees while the music was playing.

Amazing place. The POLA Museum of Art is a little out of the way, but can be reached easily enough by public bus from Gora station. There is a bus you can catch down the road from the Hakone Open Air Sculpture Museum. It's a good combination of doing these two things together in one day. The POLA Museum has artworks from Monet, Gaughan, Van Gogh, Matisse, Cezanne and plenty of other masters. There is a lovely cafe that makes good strong coffee. You can also get tea and cake. The cafe looks out over some lovely forested areas. It may not be known or be as famous as the large art museums, but it is a treasure. Invest some time and go see this calming but also inspiring place.

Lovely exhibit in a sleek, introspective building. A bit abstract for our tastes, but that's irrelevant. We particularly enjoyed the forest walk, which features an extensive network of concealed speakers projecting soothing music as you walk through the trees.

Superb museum (and that is not trivial give the many excellent museums Japan has on offer) — well curated exhibits that span the range of art history. Also has a nice outdoor walk. A bit out of the way (and thus peaceful and quiet) but there is a direct bus from Gora station.

An enjoyable space and time to spend at. Great architecture the museum itself.
The Hakone Ropeway offers a breathtaking aerial gondola ride above a valley of volcanic craters. This 4km route from Tougendai station to Sounzan station passes through the Hakone mountains, providing ever-changing views of nature throughout the seasons. From cherry blossoms to red and yellow leaves, the scenery is stunning. On clear days, Mount Fuji can be seen in the distance.
Owakudani, also known as Hell Valley, is a geothermic site in Hakone that offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding area. Visitors can take the Hakone Tozan Railway or local buses from Hakone-Yumoto Station to reach this forested and mountainous area. One of the main attractions here is the opportunity to eat black eggs boiled in hot springs, which are said to add seven years to your life for each egg consumed.
Beautiful area with many touristy shops and a museum detailing the local geology which is very fascinating (tix: 100 yen)! There is a nature trail connected to the main complex that requires reservations that provides a look at the local wildlife. Make sure to try the black eggs while you are here as they are delicious!

Black eggs! This oozing, green scar was caused by an eruption thousands of years ago and then there was a horrible mud slide that killed many people 100 years ago. Now they are working really hard to terrace the place. It truly feels like another planet and it smells like hell. I recall a time when you could walk out further to see where they cook the eggs but it’s all blocked off now. I suppose there may have been people who got sick from the noxious gas. I wish more areas were accessible for exploration. Still, I understand that is probably not safe. The ropeway is a great experience especially on a sunny day. We were lucky to catch it at a nice time in February. Looking forward to visiting again whenever we have a chance. Thanks for all the delicious hard boiled eggs over the years 🙏🎉😄

Beautiful view! Strong smell. Special experience.
The guided tour into the volcano area is very limited access and has to be reserved several days in advance, which is quite inconvenient.
The black egg is interesting and tasty.

In the Owakudani area near the Hakone volcano there are places where hot smoke comes out of the ground (it's not a geyser) the smell of sulfur which scorches the ground in a yellow color. View of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fujiyama in Japan. It is amazing, don't miss the cable car ride, boating on the lake and visiting the open museum. It is said that the Japanese cook eggs in the hot springs which gives them a black color. A belief holds that eating one egg adds 7 years to life. The place also has a restaurant and sells ice cream, which is also black in color.

Beautiful place to visit.
The peak is about 1044 meter high and you can see the inactive volcanoes and smokes coming out from the volcano.
However the smoke is very stingy because of its sulphuric property.
You have to take a Cable car in order to get to the top.
One of the most famous food is Black Egg or 黒卵.
The rumor about the black egg is that if you have one black egg then your life expectancy will increase to extra 7 years.
Its really very interesting rumor that almost 95% tourists buy Black eggs.
Really must visit once.

Easy to find, lovely atmosphere (not counting the dreadful smell of sulphur of course😆) . The ride on the gondola was nice and provided a lovely view on approaching the lake. The weather tho obscured Mt. Fuji ☹️
I liked that I could buy a one way or return ticket and use it anytime throughout the day. I do think that ¥2250 (return) is a rather pricey ride tho but I guess it's a tourist attraction.
I didn't like that the minimum number of eggs I could purchase was 5 - felt like a waste of resources since I couldn't eat that many and 3 ended up in the trash.
All round nice experience - I recommend it.

Beautiful place. Went there when it was cloudy, wind was really strong and you could see the clouds pass through. It's a pretty cool experience. I do wonder if mount Fuji is visible from this area or not.

This place looks so great especially while you're inside the ropeway where you can actually see the smokes coming from the mountains on a great angle.
Once you go down, you'll see shops selling souvenirs and some black egg that they believe will add more years to your life if you eat it.
We decided not to stay too long due to the sulfur smell coming from the smokes.
It is a place with a breath taking view that's why it's a must visit site when you go to Hakone.
Arlhie Rose Razon-Magabo — Google review
Beautiful place, access through ropeway recommended, or by car. Enjoy the view, the volcanic mountain, Fuji-san and have your meal here with the legendary black egg. Must visit. Smell of sulphur to be expected as usual, not so strong with the wind.

This place is so beautiful, really wish we would have done a little bit more research on things to do especially that you can walk to the area where the eggs are boiled. However, even without doing all this we still wouldn’t have had time to do anything else given that the ropeway closes relatively early. Definitely worth checking out though.

Fantastic experience! You can see the sulfur escaping the ground from the last eruption in 2015. The black eggs are supposed to extend your life by 7 years. And they have all kinds of food to try!

There's nothing really to see here, it's cool to see the geothermal activity but it's not exactly pretty and the views are mediocre at best. The cable car was awesome though.

Potentially the single best reason to purchase a Hakone transportation pass. This mountain top has some incredible views of Mt. Fuji and the mine on the back side. It’s accessible by cable car system, and serves a black egg that apparently extends your life - which I had no interest in trying.

Originally established in the year 757, the Nine-Headed-Dragon Shrine [Kuzuryu-jinja] reveres a nine-headed dragon. According to ancient legend, the dragon who lived at the bottom of Lake Ashi demanded a human sacrifice from the local villagers. A monk named Mangan Jyonin saved the villagers by subduing the dragon causing it to renounce its evil ways. The dragon became revered as a dragon king, and these days, a festival is held every year on July 31st to celebrate the nine-headed dragon king.

The Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium is a worthwhile destination for admirers of deep sea creatures. It features tanks containing a variety of well-maintained deep and shallow sea fishes, as well as invertebrates. The most notable exhibits include the dark room viewing of luminescent fishes from the deep sea and preserved specimens that come in blue and red colors, with hard bones stained red while soft ones are stained blue.
A must-visit in Numazu, likely one of the surprisingly best aquariums I’ve visited ever. We visited two hours before close on a weekday and there was a steady flow of visitors but it wasn’t too crowded at all. Compared to the chaos of the Osaka Aquarium that I visited last month, this was a much nicer experience.
Every tank is set up with so much care, and there is lots of information about the fishes. If you don’t know Japanese you’ll have to translate but it was no problem! My favorite exhibit was the isopod and ancient fish.

The exhibition at this aquarium was very nice. However, there are two problems. One is that the only payment method is cash. The second is that the staff's response is not good. The staff at the admission ticket office responded according to the manual, and the five-member family customer in front of me pitifully stopped admission and went home. The staff who guides you at the entrance cannot guide you smoothly. As a result, the passage before going to the back of the building became a large line, and many people complained. The end of the large line was very empty. I was disappointed. The inside of the aquarium was vacant and comfortable, unlike the area near the entrance. The exhibition of deep-sea fish was also devised. It was fun to watch.

My highlights are dark room viewing of deep sea luminescent fishes and beautifully preserved fishes that come in blue and red. It says hard bones are stained red and soft ones by blue. They not just attached scientific interest but are really piece of art!
I would say relatively high admission of 1,600 pays considering its quality. Enjoy!

Fantastic little aquarium. Lots of Japanese tourists but almost no foreign tourists at all. It has the most extensive coelacanth exhibit and a wide variety of deep sea animals. Entrance fee is 1600 yen per adult. Queue can be a little long because the start of the exhibit requires you to queue up but the line moves quickly as people are very polite. A must go if you are in Suruga bay. Lots of restaurants around after you are done. Keep your ticket as sometimes the restaurants offer discounts when you show the ticket.

Very wonderful place to visit! You may spend 60-90 mins or more if you like. Opened in 2012 and getting popular once NHK, national broadcasting, released the video that captured gigantic squid alive in the deep sea.
Top features: 1) Coelacanths (both frozen and stuffing): Very rare in Japan due to strict trading rules these days. Those are imported before the regulations were effective.
2) Bathynomus giganteus
3) Fresh local deep sea creatures (Suruga bay is the deepest bay in Japan.)
One staff answered my questions so sincerely and in details. So nice! It seemed staffs are proud of and enjoy working there. They are effectively displaying all creatures, and hold some presentations (Japanese only by staffs).
Overall, kids must love this place and even some adults can enjoy a lot surely. Highly recommended place to visit! Note that weekends are so crowded. Go in the morning or weekdays. ;) Enjoy!

It is a cute small aquarium, roughly would take 1.5 hours and 2 hours if you are really into learning deep sea. Beside the deep sea, they also some shallow reef organisms. The route is clear, tanks are diverse with clear Japanese and English explanation. They are keeping flapjack octopus and seems doing a good job on extending the cultivate period. The best part will be the collection of Coelacanth specimen, they are exhibit a dry one and two frozen.

Numazu Minato Shinsenkan is a charming shopping center that offers an array of dining options specializing in sushi and other seafood delicacies along with local souvenir shops. The mall boasts of delectable fresh seafood and goods that are available in abundance, especially freshly caught fishes, which can be savoured as sushi. The ambiance of the place is delightful, making it a lovely spot to visit for foodies who love seafood.
A relatively new market that sells fish, dried fish and seafood related items. There are also restaurants and sweet shops inside. Great to relax on a hot summer day with AC.

It looks like the ``14th Minato Oasis Sea-Class Gourmet in Numazu'' will finally be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 29th and 30th.👍 Due to the coronavirus, the event has been undecided and has been delayed for a long time, but it feels like my long-awaited dream has finally come true. Is not it. I'm sure he'll be a great resource. I'm also thinking of adjusting my schedule and going somehow. Are you all going out? I’m looking forward to it~(^^)
At Minato Shinsenkokan, you can find tuna sashimi, etc. Dried fish are often bought outside at stores in shopping streets. I always buy horse mackerel, mackerel, and dried soy sauce mirin from Yondaime Yahei, which I will introduce in a separate article next time. Also, the souvenir that I always buy at Minato Shinsenkokan is ``Mekabut Tororo'', which I have also uploaded in the photo👍In the Showa era, it was sold at stores, but recently it has become more difficult to buy it. . “Ajiya” is the only one that sells it at Numazu Port. It's great for everyday cooking and miso soup (^^) Everyone, please try it at least once.

The Shuzenji Temple is just a stone throw away from the footpath and the historical outdoor onsen. Unfortunately, when we visited the temple there was a group of Chinese tourists talking inadequately loud, yelling and screaming and not behaving at all in a way that other people could enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. Jōren Falls, a picturesque location along the Kano River, features an enchanting 25-meter waterfall that cascades into a pool. This natural wonder is steeped in folklore and boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can park their cars in the lot and take a lengthy staircase to reach the base of the falls, where they can witness wasabi cultivation that takes advantage of the area's pristine water sources. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate access to a nearby pond service on the river.
It was a very beautiful waterfall. I parked my car in the parking lot. A waterfall can be seen far below the parking lot. Take a long, long staircase to the waterfall. When I got down to the bottom, wasabi, a special product of Izu, was cultivated. It is agriculture that makes use of clean water. There was a fishing pond service on the river, and many people enjoyed fishing. There is a beautiful waterfall in front of you, and you can feel the negative ions throughout your body. On the way back, you have to go up the long long stairs. I am very tired. However, it is worth going to the bottom to see the waterfall.

The photos don't do it justice, it was more spectacular than I thought, especially in the rain. The surprising bonus was the small wasabi farm also in the gorge, so you can see the waterfall and get your wasabi hit (including buying fresh wasabi) in the same place.
There are about 200 steps and no wheelchair accessibility. No toilets in the gorge either.

This was a really beautiful spot to come and relax and take a short break away from Tokyo. It seems they created an irrigation system using the waterfall to continuously water all the wasabi plants, so the sound of all the water rushing through us really relaxing. They offer fishing and even sell some wasabi ice cream (it’s just vanilla ice cream with some wasabi on top. Be careful it’s super spicy haha we got heartburn after eating it and walking up all the steps). Definitely recommend it as a quick stop to anyone passing through Shizuoka, especially for the first time.

Japan is well known for its beautiful waterfalls, and Joren Falls is exceptional. What makes it interesting is there is a wasabi farm next to the falls.. (so you can actually see how wasabi is grown). Also interesting is that you can go trout fishing from the river (for a fee).
