I tried fishing for horse mackerel and sardines, but after 5 hours of fishing, I didn't catch any fish. Those who were fishing with lures at the tip of the short breakwater were catching little by little.
Judging from the surroundings, both bait and lures are silent near the foot of the breakwater, so I think you can expect better results if you use a float and aim a little offshore when fishing for sabiki.

Hatsushima is a small resort island located in Shizuoka Prefecture, easily accessible from Tokyo by train and high-speed boat. It's a popular destination for daytrippers, offering activities such as snorkeling, diving, and picnicking. The island is known for its seafood eateries where visitors can enjoy fresh catches in a BBQ style at the Hatsushima Picnic Garden near the sea.
This is Shizuoka’s only inhabited island and it’s about two hours from Tokyo. 30 minutes by ferry from Atami port. It’s a beautiful little island with great views and delicious food. I enjoyed walking around and enjoying the scenery. I highly recommend visiting PICA, there you can relax on a hammock or take a dip in the “island bath”. There are also many beautiful flowers there when they are in season. Also on a clear day you can catch a great view of Mt. Fuji. Even though it’s small there’s a lot to do here like diving, fishing, hot spring, and etc. Check it out.

There is not much to do there, except enjoying the boat trip and refreshing breeze. There are few restaurants but you will mostly have to queue. I would not recommend to visit the island unless you have to kill time. Plan well you return to make sure you don’t wait too long for the next boat to return Atami.

Not worth being here unless you travelled all other places you can visit and nothing is left, or if you already have a reservation for scuba diving.
Many ppl were fishing here so maybe that’s the other option you will have here.
There are basically not much things you can do.
Limited number of restaurants benefiting the vested interests mostly being so rude to customers prevented me to even try queuing.
If you are starving and you are cool about arrogant restaurants, you can of course try queuing but ppl say there’s only a few restaurants serving good food so you will need to choose the longest queues (again, this is what I heard but not something I tasted and compared)
Speaking of scuba diving here, I did see some random fishes and the visibility (on September) was not bad.
Maybe joining an advanced group might even lead you to see some better stuff.
The dive shop I attended (located in Atami) was nice as the staffs were kind and friendly. To sum-up, for the scuba diving part, I’d say it’s good for training or maybe for relaxing underwater having a chill dive...but to this island, I don’t think I will visit again.

I believe this station becomes a famous spot for photo shooting because of the "SLAM DUNK", which is a important and passionate comic book in Japanese's mind. In it's animation, the actor say hello to the actress in front of the station, with the enthusiastic opening, which becomes a eternal image in every visitor's heart.
After photo shooting, don't forget to stroll on the Shonan Beach. Try to feel the simplicity, charm and kindness of Kamakura. You will find out why this place is a nice choice for residing in Tokyo people's mind.

Classic train ride along the coast, enjoy the Coastal walk and watch the locals ride motorbike in groups.
The train goes around many attractions, unfortunately we didn't have time for 江之島. (A good few hrs is required)
Avoid peak season or holiday time as the train gets overly crowded.

Despite of the rainy weather, I still get the chance to visit this island. From the Enoshima Train station, you have to walk on the bridge connecting to the island. It was really nice thou. You can see different seafood restaurants, souvenir shops and snacks below. Then, you will see stairs going to the shrine and to the Sea Candle Observatory. Enoshima Iwaya Cave, consisting of the 152-meter Daiichi Iwaya and the 56-meter Daini Iwaya, was naturally sculpted by ocean waves. Once a site for Buddhist rituals, it now features stone statues, a small shrine, and historical exhibits. The mysterious ambiance is linked to the legend of the Dragon God. Visitors can stroll through with candles provided for an atmospheric experience.
Love this place, incredible energy. I took a wee boat around to the caves then walked back. If you are into Japanese history this is a must-visit. Otherwise it’s just a refreshing day out on the water, and on/in the hill.
Chef Toner — Google review
Really cool cave that was created from wave erosion on the backside of Enoshima Island. Lots of stone historical objects that are part of the cultural heritage of the Island. In the back of the cave there is a large dragon statue known as the "Heavenly Maiden" that has cool RBG lighting. It costs ¥500 for adults to enter and it's worth your time if you get the chance to visit.

An experience that is definitely worth trying! Explore the beautiful cave by candle light, they even provide LED candle lights for the kids. We were lucky because we came when the illuminations were on. Highly recommended.
A'isyah Kartika Sari — Google review
It's a small cave but still worth to pay a visit. I enjoy the walkway with candles on the sides. There's a booth where you can rent a candle but i dont think it's needed. It's not really too dark inside. In the 2nd cave, you'll see a dragon with sound effects. I wasnt impressed by that but the folktale about it is cool so that can be interesting for some people. I advise you visit the cave and be the judge. But overall, it was okay.
Wee Tolentino — Google review

This was an interesting find that I didn’t know about. It’s a really unique experience that I enjoyed. Some parts are dark so they let you borrow a light. Also be aware that some parts are low so you might have to squat down. There’s all sorts of artifacts to see inside so check it out if you’re in the area.

The island of Enoshima is amazing, words cannot describe enough this island. You should follow the map to visit everything. If you follow the path, you will get to the two caves. It is well reserved and if you read about the history, you will be amazed. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji from the red bridge; I suggest watching the sunset from this point when the sun comes down on the other side, you will see Mt. Fuji.

An excellent spot for Enoshima visitors. The cave's interior is captivating and spacious, featuring two distinct zones. The entrance fee is worthwhile, and tourists with an Enoden pass or other tourist passes can enjoy a discounted fee.

Breathtaking place with terrific views no matter where you looked. Exploring the cave with a candle really gives a lot of immersion. Very unique experience even for Japan. Could do without the clapping dragon thing though. Felt a bit tacky.
ライナー(Reiner) — Google review
Very fascinating experience, it makes planning a trip to Enoshima Island definitely recommended as it is the highlight of the island for sure. The cliffside infront of the cave alone is worth coming here. There are two caves, lined with history exhibitions, the mandatory shrines inside, one of which is a dragon that growls when you clap. In one cave you get a cute handheld lantern and in the other are beautiful lanterns. The path between the caves had a part with cute chimes.
Tobias Lass — Google review
Not the best sight seeing place but if you come to Enoshima already then it is still worth to go for an mini adventure with the candle they provided!
A Undine — Google review
Warning to people with disability or bad backs, legs etc: the cave headspace does get rather low, meaning some bending over is needed to reach some of the interesting parts. Was a unique experience though with a section that is candle lit, so I say it’s is worth visiting if you can. On weekends you will have to queue for 10+min to enter.

Fun cave tour that gives you the local history of the myths and lore of Enoshima. You also get to carry a candle around for lights, so it's kinda fun

Must visit if you come to Enoshima. The caves are the origins of the Enoshima shrine and supposedly the island itself. Candles will be provided free of charge. But there is enough light that you dont need it.

Really cool views at the top ticket was cheap to go to the observation deck of the sea candle 800¥ I think was the combo ticket to get into the area and to the top of the needle. A lot of cool things to walk around and see on the island and the needle is a must go spot. Very cool views of mt. Fuji from the top. Parking is paid parking right after you go across the bridge, so you will have to walk for 10-20 minutes to get to the needle but there is a lot of cool shops, restaurants, street food and things to see on the walk so it is fun. You can take the stairs to get to the needle or pay to use the escalators to get up the hill to the area where the needle is. Very cool and worth the trip.

Boasting an exceptional panoramic view of the sea, this establishment offers a compelling blend of affordability and ample seating, rendering it an indispensable gem within Kanagawa Prefecture's culinary landscape. Its expansive jazz lounge, complemented by a well-appointed bar, firmly establishes it as an essential destination for travelers seeking both ambiance and value.

If you buy the set tickets of Odakyu you can enter for free! It's a bit of a hike to go to the entrance.
The views from above is stunning. Althought it gets a bi windy, the view and the feeling was worth it!
In the night there is an illumination.

Worth the price! We bought it together with the escalator and because of that, we managed to catch the sunrise with no obstructions! The view up there was perfect and not too crowded such that we didn’t manage to get photos of the sunset. Worth the travel from Tokyo!

One of the sightseeing spot in Enoshima. The view from the seaccandle is spectacular. Don't forget to go and enjoy during sunset. Very beautiful.

Beautiful place to come for a walk. The Candle area is paid, but even if you do not go in there, the small peninsula offers a lot of charm and temple to hang around for half a day. The night view was beautiful, ideally to bring a date. Some nice eating spots as well . To come here, take the train from Shinjuku Station (Take Odakyu Line and at Fujisawa Station change to Enoden Line). There is a sento, public bath, called Enospa worth trying (gets cheaper after 17.00PM, bring your swimwear to wear inside or you can rent it).

I vaguely remembered that I have been to here twice in the past, yet John insisted only one time in the past.
Nonetheless, I like Enoshima. In a good day, Mt. Fuji is at sight, good quality pictures can be taken.
Going down to the cave is always a good challenge on your return route if boat cruise isn’t available for the day. John and I managed to climb up, catching breath furiously, giving my 68-year old age.
Nice air breeze at observation deck up on the candle, I bet my dad would have enjoyed his nap, sadly he passed away more than 3 years by now.
John didn’t like shirasu しらす, he had the most famous 丸焼きたこせんべい taco senbei instead.
One more nice day out to remember, it is. Not sure if I would be back since the steep stairway from the cave to candle tower could be a good challenge.

Paid the small price of admission for a ride to the top and the view. With a telephoto lens, I could actually see the Tokyo Skytree from the top. There are two (2) observation levels at the top, one enclosed and one open air. My visit was on a warm sunny day and the open observation deck was the place to be. All in all this was a worthwhile experience and recommended.

The place is beautifully decorated with thousands of candles.
Sea candle event is from 2023/10/14 to 2023/11/05.
There will be huge queue to buy the tickets. There are two vending machines and one counter to buy tickets.
Ticket cost ¥500 for adults and ¥250 for children.
There are paid elevator to reach the top and we can opt to walk around 30mins too
There is a souvenir shop, a restaurant and some food stalls on the top.
The entry time is 17:00 to 20:00 with last entry at 19:30 for weekday
For weekend the entry time is 17:00 to 21:00 and last entry at 20:30.

Went to this place with the hope for a glimpse of mount fuji, though it was bright & sunny, but was cloudy.
Nevertheless, its a nice experience. Got to see the views from the top. Really beautiful. And super windy too! And if it's not too crowded, you'll get to sit and enjoy the view and breeze.

Enoshima Shrine is a renowned mountaintop complex featuring three ancient shrines, picturesque grounds, and stunning panoramic views. Dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of wisdom and music, this Shinto shrine is among Japan's most famous. Located just a short walk from Katase-Enoshima Station, it includes Hetsunomiya with its octagonal pavilion enshrining Benzaiten.
Roughly 2 hours by train from Tokyo, Enoshima is a place you need to visit.
A lot of elevations when going around, so something to keep in mind.
Plenty of shops and places to eat, you can easily spend a whole day there.
On the south side there are also several caves worth a visit.
Observation tower at the top of the island with a 360 view.

Make sure you cross the famous bridge and visit Enoshima Island and this Shrine. So much to see and do as you move through the maze and surrounding walkways. After you walk across just climb the set of stairs to the top. The streets on the path are filled with delicious food and shops to purchase treats along the way.

Absolutely loved it. Went there during enoshima toro (江ノ島灯篭). The vibe, scenery, food, and all. Tako senbei (octopus pressed rice cracker) was very good. We went there at night so not many restaurants were open but still enjoyed strolling around the island.

Such a beautiful shrine, I am impressed with the beauty of Enoshima Island. Everything looks straight out of an anime. This whole place is an amazing experience, and you could easily spend a full day here without realising it. Street foods are plentiful (though often packed), make sure you're checking the map as you're moving around as you can get distracted by other attractions. Enoshima Aquarium, situated near Katase Beach, is a Pacific Ocean and Sagami Bay-themed aquarium showcasing diverse marine life. The concept of the aquarium is centered around "enjoy learning" and offers various programs including a touch pool for up-close encounters with creatures from Sagami Bay. One of its highlights is the "Sagami Bay Zone," featuring a large water tank where approximately 8,000 sardines swim.
One of the best aquariums in the local area. My family always have fun here. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has stopped majority of touch and feel exhibits, but nevertheless it is still a popular place even due the workday.

Enoshima Aquarium is a must-visit destination located in Kanagawa Prefectural Shonan Coast Park for those who are interested in marine life and the Sagami Bay. The exhibition is informative and engaging, and I learned a lot about this beautiful and life-rich coastal area.
The main tank is like a large screen showing the ocean floor, and the jellyfish room is well-designed with colorful light effects. It is also a planetarium with regular shows for visitors. The outdoor area is home to a lot of sea turtles, which is a rare sight in aquariums. Their resting area facing the stunning Sagami Bay is a relaxing and perfect spot for enjoying the picturesque view. Unfortunately the Dolphin show stadium was under maintenance during my visit.
Overall, Enoshima Aquarium is a good local aquarium for tourists to learn more about the Sagami Bay and for families to enjoy their weekend.

One the coolest aquariums in Honshu. They have over 15 exhibits including an outdoor dolphin show. It cost ¥2,500 to enter for an adult. Make sure you check the times for the dolphin shows because the seats fill up quickly. Some of our favorite exhibits include the deep sea tank, the jellyfish hall, the Sagami bay tank and the sea turtle beach. I have been here two times and I highly recommend you visit this aquarium when in Enoshima.

One of the best aquariums with so much varieties of sea creatures while the entrance fees still reasonable. They have many jellyfish types and I didn’t saw anywhere else. The dolphins show is very good and changing regularly.

An absolutely adorable aquarium, the wave fed rock pool was a very interesting site to see, the big tank was breathtaking and the dolphin show was super cute.
There were carp feeding areas where a big carp gives you kisses as they eat, chill capybara, basking sea turtles, seals, otters, penguins, various fishes, an astonishing amount of jellyfish and bull shark touching pools.
The cafe was nice, there was plenty of souvenirs and an adorable photo op with the Enoshima Aquarium mascot you could take home.
10/10 would splash again.

By the way, it was developed by Sumitomo Corporation.
The movie theater is 109 Cinemas.
Although it is directly connected to Tsujido Station, I think most people other than locals will have to take the train.

I decided to go out of my way.
From Tomei Ebina Junction to Ken-O Expressway
Fujisawa on the new Seisho Bypass? to
It takes about 5 minutes to get there.
in the middle
I went to put the things I bought in the car.
Is it full by 11 o'clock even on weekdays? I thought it was.
What about holidays? I wondered how crowded it would be.
By the way, parking fee exemption is limited to 4 hours even if you shop at maximum.
There is a food court called Shiokaze Kitchen.
There are box seats near the center.
I hope you can secure a box seat.
I went around 11 o'clock before it got crowded.
I was able to sit in a box seat.
At "Fujisawa specialty Sato no Udon"
I ordered the kitsune udon and mini pork bowl set. If you secure a seat and sit down, it will take about 5 minutes.
The notification alarm that was given to me went off and I immediately went to pick it up. The udon was delicious. Butadon in particular? I think it would have been better to have the regular mini size.
Shopping •••
I don't think there's much to note.•••
It's fine as long as each of you has your favorite shops, but other shopping malls such as LaLaport etc.
My impression is that not much has changed.
After shopping
I came all the way to Shonan.
On the way back, I went around Enoshima and returned.
Hmm

This time, I came to worship at Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine located in Odawara Castle! Previously, I visited Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine near Sagami-Ono Station and learned about the good government and character of Sontoku Ninomiya, so I decided to visit Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine in Odawara to worship because I thought this was also my chance! The area around Odawara Castle has a good old townscape with well-maintained roads and gives the impression that it is flourishing around the station! If you walk along the castle road towards Odawara Castle, you will arrive at Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine, which is adjacent to Odawara Castle! As you know, the enshrined deity is Ninomiya Sontoku, a man who established a good government by implementing measures to save and strengthen rural areas in this area! He is a person who lost his parents in a flash flood when he was young and was promoted because he valued learning even though he had many hardships! His perseverance, intellect, and benevolent personality make him almost like a hero, the more you get to know him, the more you like him! Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine has a lot of worshipers, and you can see many people who come to pray because they admire its personality! The precincts have plum trees planted around the long approach path, and in early spring, plum trees are in full bloom around the precincts, making it a place where you can enjoy the faint fragrance of the flowers! There is a moat under the castle that runs parallel to the long approach, and if you follow it you will reach the main shrine! The main shrine has a distinctive structure with a convex roof, and from the outside it looks like a well-ventilated main shrine! The main shrine is also connected to Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine near Sagami-Ono Station, so after a quick greeting and report, the visit was over! But it's a beautiful shrine! There were many people who came to worship, and it was lively with intelligent people and people who admire Sontoku! I was able to visit the shrine in a calm manner as the grounds were well-cleaned and had natural beauty! After worshiping, we will proceed to Odawara Castle along the approach to the castle! Ninomiya Sontoku is enshrined in the world famous Odawara Castle! In Odawara, there is still a shrine loved by the virtues protected by the local people who are grateful for the good government he established! Now, I would like to pray that the virtuous heart of Ninomiya Sontoku will reside in you too.

Enshrined in a family home in Odawara Castle Ruins Park.
There is a bronze statue of Sontoku Ninomiya.
There is a connecting corridor from the main shrine to the shrine office, which is very cool. There was also what looked like a cafe on the premises.
I've been to Odawara Castle several times, but this was my first time. It's a nice and quiet place.
Normally, the goshuin stamps are written on, but on this day, the writer was absent, so they left a note on them. It's a shame for me personally.

Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine
It is about a 15-minute walk from the east exit of Odawara Station via Ohori Street.
Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine was built in 1891 in a corner of Odawara Castle Ninomaru Komine Kuruwa in Odawara City, the birthplace of Kinjiro (Sontoku Ninomiya). He is known as the god of learning because of the image of Kinjiro. In addition, because he helped rebuild and restore the finances of the domain and village, it is said to bring good fortune in terms of business management, wealth, and business prosperity.
In addition, the traditional Shinto ceremony at Hotoku Kaikan will impress everyone with the traditional Japanese ceremony, including the bride's pure white dress and the performance of Kagura dance.

Odawara Castle Park is a historical site with a museum showcasing samurai artifacts and offering kids' rides. The park features seasonal blooms such as wisteria and plum. Originally built in the mid-15th century, Odawara Castle was once home to the powerful Odawara Hojo daimyo during the Warring States period. It played a crucial role in defending the Kanto region but was eventually abandoned and demolished in 1870.
First castle I've been to, so don't have anything to compare it to. It was neat, only improvement for me would have been dual language signs that explain the history, but that's my own fault for not knowing Japanese.

Odawara Castle Odawarajō was originally built in the mid-15th century and soon fell into the hands of the Hojo Clan, one of the most powerful clans during the Warring States Era who used it as a base to control the region around modern-day Tokyo. In 1590, Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked the castle, and with the defeat of the Hojo Clan, reunited Japan.

The Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History is a large, modern museum with exhibits on the earth's origins, flora and fauna. It's an excellent attraction for those interested in dinosaurs and ancient history, as well as being situated in a beautiful location near Hakone-Yumoto.
Outstanding attraction with massive scale. Entry is surprisingly inexpensive and kids were free which is a huge plus for a museum. Great displays that dwarf the viewer. Highly recommended if you’re in the area, especially on a rainy day. Bathrooms were only on the third floor when we visited.

Founded in 1995, the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History is a research facility dedicated to inspiring discovery about the natural world through its exhibitions and education programs. Located in Hakone area, the famous hot-spring resort near Tokyo, the museum features impressive exhibitions and collections about the formation of solar system, history of the Earth, evolution of life, biodiversity, and nature from Sagami Bay to Hakone volcano.I like this place good service, food very yummy and very clean there.

Didn't expect too much, but this is a GREAT museum. At last a place that let's you touch almost everything. The samples are great and the volume of the rooms are gigantic. Definitely worth it if you are in the area and want to spend a couple of hours in an insightful way

Pretty nice looking collection but not much more info than a regular "Natural history" museum in my opinion.
It was still nice looking at all the rocks and species presented to us.
There's also a decent amount of content available for English speakers if you scan the QR codes around the rooms.
I'm sure as a kid I would've loved this museum.

Went with a few of my friends and their families. The kids liked it. Various rocks that were on display. Also various models of creatures. The dinosaur skeleton was huge. The kids enjoyed it a lot. We spent around 4 hours inside the museum. The outside is also very green.
Odawara Castle is a small but resilient fortress that houses various exhibits and historical artifacts, offering panoramic views from its tower. Originally a simple hilltop fortification captured by Hojo Soun in 1495, it later expanded to become the seat of Hojo power. Despite enduring attacks from powerful warlords during the Warring States Period, including Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen, the castle ultimately fell to Toyotomi Hideyoshi's forces in 1590.
One of the best tourist destinations around Kanto region of Japan. The city itself was built and developed as "castle town" back in many centuries ago. The castle was ruined once but rebuilt as an important heritage. The entry fee to the castle is reasonable and I would highly recommend to get into the inside castle. The view from the top of the castle is simply amazing looking down the city and ocean. There are some experiences around the castle like you can wear Ninja and kimono costumes.

Made the day trip to Odawara Castle from Yokosuka. About 1 hr & 45 minutes with 4 Toll Roads. Found parking for 500 yen. Short walk to the North Gate entrance. It is visibly a nice site to see the grounds, unfortunately it doesn’t have an old mystical feeling as the grounds, castle & gates have all be renovated over the years. The Castle itself requires payment for entry, it’s essentially just a museum inside. Modern feel, not a castle energy to it at all. There’s 4 floors for viewing and at the top you can walk outside around for the great views. Took plenty of pictures and there’s a couple simple food vendors, and a cage with snow monkeys … kinda sad small cage … but kids enjoyed seeing them. There’s is children’s play area, with cheap tickets for a train ride, battery operated cars and a couple other simple things. Pretty dated feel to it. There is also a NINJA museum … we didn’t pay to enter. Overall, if you’re traveling far to see it, plan a quick hour or so, then maybe view the ocean nearby and have other items planned. The history is fascinating. Beautiful place but simple. I didn’t take any pictures in the museum … I think it’s not allowed and I didn’t want to be caught looking like a rude American LOL

Very nice castle and grounds. Museum inside the castle mostly in Japanese but some English. Once climbing the stairs over several floors you have an outside view of the local area. There was also a Shogun small exhibition when we visited, unsure if that's a permanent thing.

It is such a beautiful castle that is at less than 1 hour from Tokyo. My favorite parts was that it wasn't crowded like the other castles so you could enjoy it more and especially they did such a good job at explaining the story of the castle. You have a lot of short movies at each floor describing the story of Odawara. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Great castle grounds with a rebuilt castle structure repurposed as a museum. The exhibits are interesting but most plaques are only in Japanese. I’m partial to castles that either preserve or recreate the original interior. This is no Himeji, but it’s worth a visit if you’re in the prefecture or trying to see the top 10 tallest castles in Japan.
Josh Diddams — Google review
Most of the castle has been rebuilt in the 60s so if you are looking for that authentic feel, this is not the place. The external shape looks great but the inside is modern and concrete. Stairs are even “normal”. There is an interesting samurai exhibition at one of the entrance and a good narrative of the castle history.
Nicolas weng kan — Google review
Pretty impressive from outside, not so much inside as everything is very modern. The castle was rebuild to the original outside look but obviously not inside. Still a nice place to visit in Odawara, very beautiful views of the town from the top deck of the castle. I would say it is well worth the admission cost and recommend paying the extra 100 yen to also visit Tokiwa Kimon Samurai Centre right outside the castle.

A castle near Tokyo.
Entrance fee is 510 yen if you are going inside and explore the exhibition rooms. The observation deck is awesome, you can see the sea, too. Unfortunately, English translations for historical facts are very limited almost not available which is very unfortunate because I couldn't enjoy my time to learn more about the history.
There is also a Samurai exhibition, separated from the main building. If you buy a combination ticket, it will be 610 yen per person.

A lovely museum explaining everything about fish cakes that turn out to be a very ancient craft in Japan. There are cooking classes that require registration (probably worth it especially with kids), but the rest of the museum doesn't need an advance reservation. Children's Forest Wanpaku Land is a vast park nestled in the hills that features botanical gardens, playground equipment, and an assortment of activities for kids. The park offers train rides and pony rides for children, as well as plenty of opportunities to play games, explore nature, and run around. There are many easy walking trails throughout the park that provide ample space for families to enjoy some fresh air and exercise. While parking costs 1010 yen per day, admission to the park itself is free.
We visited the park today with our Japanese grandchildren.
They enjoyed the climbing, slides and open spaces.
We enjoyed the beautiful sakura blossom.
As many reviews mention, there are no cafes or restaurants on site but there were several food vans serving crepes, hotdogs, noodles and chips, also candy floss.
The park was clean, several toilet blocks and well maintained paths.
We all had a really good day.

I travel a lot and been many places , many cable cars . This one is my second worst overpriced cable car after Porto in Portugal cable car. Whole little village is basically made up o car parking places with nobody there to park , with probably 50 tourists a day as whole cable car attraction is Shadowed by scam of expensive parking, difficult to get there and once you there you have to climb steep steps up for about 1km then to find out that cable car runs from nowhere to nowhere that cost ¥1120 return and only runs for 3 min. No views on going up as car surrounded by trees on both sides. Not sure bout other reviews as probably made by locals and to prove how bad there is and badly managed, place was absolutely empty . I was on cable car alone , with no tourist to bee seen anywhere as like myself who drove to the place to find out overpriced carparks and people turning around and going away. I did managed to park for free by police station and had to walk quite a bit . Even is someone decides to go there keep in mind that it is not for older people or who is unfit as getting to cable car alone takes most of your energy and whole village is ran by Micky mouse
You need to get there after passing lots of stairs. It is little tiring but fun to see Japanese style shops. The signs on the stairs are encouraging and fun.

Daisenji was founded in the 7th year of Tenpyo Shoho (755) by Ryoben Sojo, who opened Todaiji in Nara. Mitsumasu Osho, a high-ranking disciple of Gyoki Bosatsu, succeeded the founder Ryoben Sojo and became Daisenji II, opening up the entire Daisen area and building temples halfway up the mountain. After that, at the invitation of Tokuichi Bodhisattva, Kobo Daishi entered the mountain as the third generation of Daisenji Temple, and many sacred places were opened. When Daishi erected his cane, a spring sprung up and became a well, and in one night he carved a Jizo deity into a rock mass with his own claws, making it a repose of the soul.

Amazing temple and hike! You can see Fuji san from the top if you’re lucky.
Nestled on the scenic Mount Oyama, Oyama Afuri Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine renowned for its rainmaking deities. Visitors can reach the shrine by riding the new cable cars, offering breathtaking views of the Kanto plain and ocean. The shrine's young priest, 27th in a line of spiritual leaders, provides insightful guidance on the surprising history of the Oyama pilgrimage.
One of the best places to visit in autumn. The vibrant colors of the leaves would really take your breath away.
Going up, there are two options, hiking or riding the cable car(¥450 one way). Hiking has two options as well, Onna-zaka (easier way) or otoko-zaka (steeper way), both ways would entail walking lots of stairs! The steeper way is less crowded, hence more chances of seeing wild deers! Hiking takes about more or less than an hour depending on pace, it’s most important to take your time and enjoy!
There are food stalls selling mochis, coffee, sandwiches, soft cream, noodles and even beer near the shrine.
After the shrine, you can go all the way up to the summit of Mt. Oyama which takes about two hours or just get down by walking or by taking cable car. The last trip for cable car is at 5:00 on weekends and 4:30 on weekdays.
Getting here earlier would give more time to enjoy and relax!

Oyama Afuri Shrine is a ceremonial shrine that is said to have been built during the reign of Emperor Sujin, the 10th Emperor of Japan, more than 2,200 years ago. Since ancient times, Sagami Province has been revered as a sacred mountain for the protection of the Kanto region. Jomon pottery, which is thought to have been used for rituals, has been unearthed from the summit, which is 1,252 meters above sea level, testifying to the ancient history of the mountain. Daisen is also known as "Amefuriyama" and has been widely loved. The name Amefuri is said to have originated from the fact that clouds and fog always form over the mountains, causing rain.

If you just want to go sightseeing, take a cable car and go shrine.
If you want to go mountain climbing, then go further after cable car.
It takes about 90mins on the way, 60mins on the way back. On top of the mountain doesn't have much, but you can bring your food and enjoy.
Mount Oyama, standing at 1,252 meters tall, is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts seeking breathtaking panoramic views. The mountain has a rich history dating back over 2000 years to the founding of the original Oyama Afuri Jinja Shrine. Accessible from Isehara Station, just an hour's train ride from Shinjuku, visitors can choose to hike the trails or take the Oyama Cable Car up to the shrine.
We started at around 8:30 from Isehara station. Bus #10 takes about 30 minutes to the Oyama Ropeway station. Then we walked some 360 stairs to the ropeway entrance. The ropeway is scheduled 3 times per hour, retour costs some 1150yen. After the ropeway, we hiked the direct trail to the top. Not long, but very tiring. Backwards we took the trail towards Miharashidai. Longer, but easier, and there are beautiful views too. We got on the bus at around 15:00, and then went from the Isehara station to the Tokaidaigaku-mae station by train. There we relaxed in the Hadano Natural Onsen Sazanka.

The view from top is beautiful, and to explore more of it I hope you climb it yourself and experience the beauty 😍😍.

Very nice hiking trail went in early September. I recommend taking the cable car if you are a not a expert hiker. The trail is very steep, rocky, muddy and slippery. So please wear either sneakers with traction or hiking shoes. The scenery is great and there is a noodle shop at the top of the mountain. If you choose to drive to the cable car station there is a guy who has a parking lot for ¥700 for the whole day. Overall loved the hike…almost died but enjoyed the adventure.😂☺️

Climbed this beautiful mountain on a late summer morning in July. The trail was not very difficult and if you are in good health, you should be able to climb this fairly quickly. However, don’t expect to get a view of Mt. Fuji from at the summit. You’ll get to see Fuji-san on your way up to the summit.
This mountain attracts a decent crowd over the weekends so you’ll see a lot of people on your way up and down.

A beautiful mountain climb and definitely doable if you have a reasonable level of fitness. Catching the train from Tokyo to Isehara station and then a bus to the mountain, a short 10min walk to the cable car and then making about a 1-2 hike up the mountain you reach the top woth views of Mt fuji, the coast and tokyo (if you can see it with the smog). If you intend on doing this hike I suggest bringing some watch and some food. We did some shopping at the 7/11 at Isehara station before leaving.

There is a ropeway, but it took us about 90 minutes up a steep slope to the summit! It was by no means an easy journey. The westward route was extremely hard with rolling rocks! The eastbound route was relatively easy with paved stairs. From near the summit we could see the beautiful Mt. Fuji. In addition, from the summit station, if you go down the mountain without the ropeway, you get to enjoy some incredibly steep stairs! We were satisfied with our hard climbing. Also, the restaurant near the summit ropeway station was very good. And the souvenir shop at the base of the mountain was just as traditional and fabulous! Fantastic Place!!

Big shocker guys, in the winter there's no toilet for the entire hike starting for the shrine (shimosha), and the lopped trail by the book is at least 3 hours including break and photo. Scenary is awesome like most mountain and won't disappoint.
Also, the trail is quite old and for anyone with similar knee aches, I highly recommend going clockwise starting from shimosha, this way you'd come down with an easier trail that won't hurt your articulation as much.
Also, dears on these mountains are real. Remember to stay away and no feeding

Begun in 1970 & finished in 2000, this massive gravity dam is located along the Nakatsu River.
Great place to view the lake. If you cycle to the base of the dam I don’t think you can access the road surrounding the lake up top. There might be a way if you are allowed to carry your bicycle in the elevator, but I’m not sure. I think the elevator is around 500 yen per person. Great view from up too.

Miyagase Dam has two different areas to visit. The top area along route 64 has a visitor center and views of the dam/lake from the top. You can also walk the many walking trails in that area. This is also the area where they have the Christmas tree lights.
On the bottom section of the damn which you get to off of route 412, you can walk up to the base of the damn itself and actually take an elevator to the top of the dam. There is also a cable tram car that you can ride up the side of the mountain from the top to the bottom of the dam. The views from the dam are awesome. There is also a little "train" that you can take from the base of the dam back to the visitor center if you don't want to walk back.

One of the largest dams in the Tokyo area, it started full-scale operation in April 2001.
The dam provides tap water and electricity and also serves other roles, such as regulating the water flow in times of flooding, and dealing with droughts.

(Translated by Google) I came to Doshigawa to camp and took a break here before dinner and took a dip in the hot springs. The outdoor bath seems to be slightly warmer than the indoor bath. You can see the Doshi River and the surrounding forest from the indoor bath, and the forest from the outdoor bath. It feels good to cool off and relax in an open-air chair (it's like a sauna). It is also recommended that you temporarily take shelter when it rains while camping. There is also free WiFi, so you can take a break while watching You Tube or watching a movie. Oh, there is a discount for Yokohama residents, so please bring your driver's license or something to prove it. It's a good deal!

Motorbike-friendly rest stop with a cafe, produce market & a suspension bridge over the Doshi River.
It’s a biker’s paradise, there are plenty of nice twisty roads you can enjoy. This is a perfect location to set as a meeting point. Place gets really crowded during summer months, and unfortunate some fatal traffic accidents occurred. Wear proper protective gear and ride safe. Cops are also enforcing laws around the area.

Kazuma-no-yu is a hot spring facility that offers various baths, including indoor massage and jet baths, an indoor sauna, a large outdoor bath, and individual pot-style outdoor baths. It is located in the midst of nature and provides visitors with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the forest surroundings while enjoying the outdoor bath. The facility also features a cafeteria that has received high praise for its delicious and affordable food.
5 stars for the cafeteria and 3 star for the hot spring.
Cafeteria is super delicious and cheap, went beyond my expectations by so so much. Impressive! I strongly recommend people to eat here.

The indoor bath had floating cypress trees and the temperature was just right.

Kazuma-no-Yu is a day-trip hot spring located in Kazuma, Hinohara Village, and was the first of its kind to open about 30 years ago.
It's over 30km from Musashi-Itsukaichi Station, so it's not a place that many people can get to right away, but it's not too crowded until around 3pm when the mountain hikers arrive.
The baths and facilities are small, but the hot springs are slightly slippery and the water is clean and great.
There is also a handmade restaurant using mushrooms grown in the village, and you can also buy local vegetables as souvenirs.
I haven't confirmed it, but I think it's higher than Tokyo Tower.

The auto campsite is well leveled and the slope is gentle. The pegs also get stuck easily.

There was also a dedicated BBQ space on the riverbank in front of us, giving us a sense of privacy.
The river is narrow and shallow, so it may not be suitable for elementary school students, but it may be safe and secure for preschoolers.
There is also a power spot called Kobe Rock, which is about a 5-minute walk away, so sneakers are fine.
Cabins are a little more expensive.
However, considering the fact that two families don't have to bring tents, tarps, and chairs, they can secure private space, and they are safe and secure, I think it is a very good lodge that is well worth the price.

(Translated by Google) I used it for the first time on October 22, 2022. I wanted to keep the price as reasonable as possible, so I booked a mountain hut for that day, but I was forced to undergo quite a bit of training.
The mountain hut is built on the slope of a mountain, so after parking at the parking lot, you have to climb up the slope of the mountain like a beast trail to get to the hut.
Directly below the slope is a riverbed, and if you slip, you'll be turned upside down.
The mountain hut was 6,000 yen each.
We rented a futon, so it cost about 10,000 yen.
A battered oil fan heater is placed in the mountain hut, but kerosene is sold separately.
However, transporting kerosene to the mountain lodge is quite a difficult task.
We brought a tent to the mountain hut, set it up inside the hut, spread futons inside it, and used sleeping bags and electric ceramic fan heaters to beat the cold.
The humidity is unimaginably high, so much so that your bedding gets wet in the morning.
There's no key, but it's hard for thieves to break in.
There are no toilets, and the kitchens are all located far away, so if you drink alcohol and go to bed, you will have a hard time going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
When you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, carry a flashlight and go slowly while watching your step.
It's about a 10 minute walk to the toilet, so be sure to leave plenty of time.
Those who rent a mountain hut can have a BBQ or bonfire on the riverbank, but it can be quite tiring to go down to the riverbank.
It is recommended that you get off the train while it is still daylight with your belongings such as the stove and firewood.
Personally, I don't really recommend BBQing on that riverbank.

Hinohara Tokyo Citizens' Forest, located on Mt Mito, is a forest therapy destination that offers various hiking routes through tranquil mountain woods. Visitors can experience the Japanese concept of forest bathing by immersing themselves in nature and relieving stress while soaking in the soothing sights and sounds. The Waterfall Course is recommended for those who want to try forest bathing. The park features hiking trails ranging from 0.9 to 7.
A beautiful and interesting forest of mixed trees including old beech trees, which are rare for the Kanto area. Accessibility is a factor in how appealing it will be for foreign visitors. There's a special rapid train on the Chuo Line that runs directly to Musashi-Itsukaichi station on weekends and holidays. Otherwise, transfer is required. From there, there is limited bus service to the forest -- only three buses in the a.m. But they run multiple buses to accommodate all the hikers April to November, so you're generally able to sit for the rather long and winding -- though scenic -- one-hour and about 900 yen ride. All those hikers seem to disappear somehow, though -- the trails are only moderately busy on big holidays and autumn leaf season. There are easy one-hour hikes and longer 4-5 hour moderately strenuous ones requiring proper footwear. At 1500 meters, it's also cooler and more prone to rain than Tokyo proper. There is a visitor center and two places to get food -- mostly typical noodles and curry. With a waterfall, various wildflowers and birds, a few good views, and fresh air, it's a nice place to experience nature if you're willing to put in the effort.

Lake Okutama is a picturesque man-made reservoir nestled amidst the stunning mountains and verdant forests of Chichibu Tama National Park, making it a popular day trip destination from Tokyo. The area offers various activities such as hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and an information center known as "Yama-no-Furusato Mura." Visitors can enjoy camping facilities, log cabins, BBQs, guided hiking tours, and workshops for crafting activities.
Definitely an must visit place if you are Japan. One of the beautiful places I visited. Prefered time to visit is autumn. You can get busses from Okutama station to Lake Okutama. The journey with mountains valleys and autumn colours will be amazing to see. Get down at the dam and spend sometime there. But the real view comes later take the bus from the dam again and get down at Ideno bus stop. This place seems like no where but if you walk a little 100m from the bus stop you can find a opening that will lead you down hill and directly to the bank of the lake. You can get the best view of Lake and the surrounding mountains from here. It was stony and dangerous but also exciting and thrilling.

Then I climbed the observatory to see the whole scene of the Lake, the Ogouchi dam, the mountains. It was a bit scary to look down from the window but it was a great view.
There is a good atmosphere and a beautiful nature here. I was healed so much from my busy days.

I hiked up to the lake from Okutama station, took about 3 hours, then had lunch and a beer on the other side of the dam. The views were absolutely stunning!
I then ventured around the lake. My target was the pontoon bridge, which I reached after about 3 hours of walking. All flat, so not challenging, but I was already tired from the hike. I ran out of water about halfway through, and there was no opportunity to get some more, all of the taps along the way weren't fit for drinking. I think taking a 2 litre bottle should be enough for a hot day.
Last bus from near the temple is about 5:30 I think, so I was in a bit of a rush at the end, and unfortunately, I didn't get to explore the temple.
Still, keep an eye out for monkeys, the newborns can be spotted in late spring/early summer!
