How long is the drive from Sado to Niigata?
The direct drive from Sado to Niigata is 64 mi (103 km), and should have a drive time of 3 hrs 12 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Sado to Niigata, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Sado Kinzan (Sado gold mine) and Osado Skyline, or the ever-popular Senkakuwan Bay.
The top stops along the way from Sado to Niigata (with short detours) are Bandai, Yahiko Shrine, and Sado Kinzan (Sado gold mine). Other popular stops include Befco Bakauke Observation Deck, Nagaoka, and Shibata Castle Ruins.
Area with rugged sea cliffs & an iconic bridge, known for sea views & rides on glass-bottom boats.
A must-visit place for when you go to Sado Island. The main activity is a boat ride -- the boat's floor has a transparent portion, allowing you to look down into the ocean and observe the coral and schools of fish. The scenery and breeze is amazing, and seagulls, who are non-hostile towards people in general, are heavily present, which is a delight as far as birdwatching goes. Also, note that the walk from the building, down to the boat port, is not short -- it's a long, scenic, downhill walk, with plenty of scenic detours worth taking, including lots of places from which you can look over the rocky cliffs (see images (the character is Torisumi Horou, a crested ibis)). The panoramic shot, for example, is taken from a bridge located by a lighthouse that you pass by on the way down to the boat port. Crossing the bridge leads to another viewing area, that also has vending machines available. Ultimately, most people spend around an hour here, but if you are keen on taking lots of photos, then you can spend as much as 2+ hours here, so do plan accordingly.

I took the bus to get there and return. Infrequent bus timing but nice to be the sole passengers on the bus.
We didn’t know that there was an entrance fee of ¥500 and there was only one way to enter so of course, we paid and it was worth it except that the weather was not really accommodating.
It would not take long to walk up and down and around if you don’t take the boat trip. I would say one hour is enough here to enjoy the scenery and the sound of ocean.
We tried milk ice cream but it was more icy than creamy. We could feel the ice bits.

The boat ride is amazing. The fee for the boat ride and entry is around 1100 yen per person. You can cover this area in 1 hour. Free wifi is available.

The view were scenic, the boat ride was not very fantastic as the sea was very choppy when we visit.
Remember to check the sea conditions before deciding to take the boat ride, otherwise is a waste of money

Some of the best scenery you'll get in Sado. The boat will take you around the rocks to see the bay from different angles, and its see-through bottom will let you view the creatures living in the ocean. All this for about 10 USD.
Sado Kinzan, a historical landmark with origins dating back to the Edo-period, is an excellent place for sightseeing. It offers guided tunnel tours and houses a museum that showcases gold and silver artifacts. The staff is extremely helpful and polite, adding to the overall experience. The admission price is well worth it, especially if you plan on visiting both mines. Additionally, the restrooms are kept very clean and the flooring of the mines isn't too slippery even when wet.
Wonderful place to visit with family and to explore history of gold mine! They have maintained it very nicely and replicated the history wisely ! We really liked this place. Please do visit it if you are planning to visit Niigata area.

Sado Kinzan Gold Mine is the largest producing gold mine in Japan. At present, this gold mine It has opened as a museum. To provide knowledge to tourists To be able to understand the production methods tools Which is shown with models that can be seen from the Edo period, when manual labor was still used, and the Meiji period. developed to use machines to save energy empoyyee , Inside the air is very cold. The entrance to the inner mine is well done and easy to walk. There is heavy gold that tourists can try lifting. It's very heavy. The souvenir shop sells merchandise only here. I bought gold-infused sake and gold-infused cheesecake. And everyone, don't forget to try it. Golden soft cream too, it was delicious.

I love the whole scenery. Very fresh and peaceful. The staff was very helpful. She explained in English and suggested we choose Sodayu tunnel first (¥1,000) and if we want to do another one, we could at the price of ¥1,500.
It is pretty cold inside the tunnel so please bring light jacket.
Sodayu tunnel would take approximately 30 minutes. Each stop has descriptions in both Japanese and English. I read somewhere that there would be a complimentary tour guide but there was not. I saw there was audio available but without headsets. Maybe if you bring own headsets, you could listen through wifi and bluetooth.
I wish I had more time to explore another tunnel and the whole area.

You can go inside the mine!! They put some robots or sculpture to demonstrate actual working environment. Its sort of slavery what they did still its good to see how exactly the gold mining function.

Recommended place to visit. The visualise the gold mining prprocess through the robotics technology , which is so realistic that some people mistakenly think that those are real human! worth to visit. the Mining place is really cold even in the hot summer day. so be careful on that.

I wonderful historical sightseeing location. Both mines are very well kept and the staff is very helpful and polite. The admission price is definitely worth the money especially if you're doing both mines. The restrooms are very clean and the minds themselves are not very slippery due to the wet flooring. I highly recommend going to both mines if you're thinking about visiting the location.

Worth the visit, a lot of history behind it and I personally enjoyed the displays and interesting information. The tunnels are cool so unless it is summer I would recommend bringing a jacket.

Super cool mine! Exactly like the Dueling Peaks from Zelda Breath of the Wild! Highly recommend visiting the mine if you're on Sado island. Both mine tours were cool for different reasons and suggest checking out both tours while you're there
Brad Wright — Google review
What a marvelous place to check out on the island! The staff is super friendly, and although my Japanese is very limited I had a fantastic time exploring the tunnels and learning the history of the mine. It’s astounding how much seeing the robot “workers” added to the experience. I also enjoyed the gold bar challenge - how often do you get to hold ¥100,000,000 ($705k) in your hand?
Onogame is an exhilarating easy to medium level trek to the top of the cape! Seems like not many people took photographs of the "summit" so let me share some perspective here. If you are there, I will highly suggest to walk all the way up as the views are amazing (of the cape and from the cape). It can get muddy and slippery if there's even small rain.

A short drive from the famous Futatsugame beach. It is a relaxing hiking area, in June the area will be covered with yellow blooms. Which is a super photographic view. You can have a really nice view of ocean from the trail.
But this place gets super hot in summer, so please take care. If you are weak to heat like me go there in June. You will be able to enjoy the place thoroughly.
Tanima Biswas — Google review
We stopped off here on our drive to Futatsugame Beach. There’s a really nice walking path that goes all around the coast and in the center is an area that in spring is full of lilies. You can also walk up to the shrine with the rope between the rocks. A gorgeous area and nice stop off if you want to stretch your legs. There’s also a restroom and across the road a small hotel that I think serves lunch but we didn’t go in. The more adventurous can hike all the way up Onogame Island. The lilies bloom from late May to early June.

This place is absolutely magic!
My favourite place so far in my six months in Japan. (The whole island is gorgeous)
I paid for the day pass ticket found in hotels or info centres. The bus took around 1 hour from Kamo lake. The drive is amazing too. I recommend to get off in the stop between Onokame and Futatsukame. Then walk to Onokame. Follow the trail which is a loop but don’t do it all, before you finish it you will find a road of grass that will easily take you back to the stop you got off. Keep going toward the little settlement by the beach until you see the trail to Futatsugame, you will find many surprises on the way (like wildlife, rocks, cliffs and Buddhist altars). If you fancy, bring binoculars. Additional tip: The last bus in the afternoon is at 5:37 pm. So you can just go back to Onokame (if you have plenty of time) and see the sunset or part of it.
Felipe Sanabria Martinez — Google review
Very steep climb with a rough path so be careful, especially if it's windy. The to of the mountain has a little shrine but not much else, ngl it's pretty lackluster. But the view is gorgeous and the mountain itself makes for wonderful pictures.

I visited this museum to remember Sado Island while sightseeing.
Inside the facility, there are exhibits that show the history and history of gold panning in the past, but the main part is the gold panning experience, where you use a special colander to scoop up sand and find gold dust from it.
The staff at the facility will carefully explain how to do it, and you can check the video that plays inside the facility, but when I tried it, I didn't know the trick at first and thought, ``I can't remove it at all...'' I was looking for it from inside, and as I did this several times while asking the staff, I started to see something shiny under the colander, and I lost track of time.
The gold dust they collect will be made into key chains for an additional fee, but it's a great keepsake, and if you collect the gold dust yourself, it's likely to bring you good luck with money. doing.
I highly recommend it if you have the chance.

The place tells us the history related to gold in Sado Island. And you can dig your own gold out of here, which is fun. But you will understand the difficulty of gold digging. I absolutely loved the experience. I was a bit sceptical at first about animals living in cages. But I came to find that they treat the animals well. The staff explained a lot about the birds, especially about the couple in the breeding (which starts next month) cage. Safe from snow and rain, with fresh living fish to eat!
Toki a absolutely cute birds! You should come here! And be careful when the last bus leaves. The staff even reminded me of the imminent leave. Great service!
If you miss it - there are some beautiful shrines and temples in the area! A stroll around the neighborhood is worth it!

A bird park and garden, though it is not extremely big. Set aside, say, an hour or so. This location is a must-see for Sado Island, since you can see crested ibis birds in the flesh. Other related birds are also available, as is a museum regarding the birds, and a mascot who turned out to be surprisingly fun to take photos with. (The character in my photo is Torisumi Horou, a crested ibis.) I was impressed by the staff's ability to answer various questions about the birds in general, as well as about the specific crested ibis in the breeding cage area. Do note that you need to be lucky for the crested ibis to go close to the viewing windows -- typically, they'll be far away, and you can only see them through telescopes (pictured). There is a souvenir shop and an ice cream store available. Lastly, fees are minimal, and almost surely worth paying anyway to contribute to the island's nature conservation efforts.

Very rarely is an entire region so eagerly dedicated to a single species; it really shows here. Here, you can explore every single aspect of the crested ibis (toki). Cave D'Occi Winery is a countryside destination that offers tours and samplings of its wines, as well as an on-site restaurant and bakery. Visitors can also enjoy art exhibitions at the gallery. It's a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, offering a peaceful café setting with stunning views. Guests can indulge in wine tastings and browse through their range of products for sale, featuring various goods.
A stretch located in Niigata where all the wineries are concentrated. It’s a pity that when we visit, the season is already over for grapes and all we see is fruitless vines.
But we visited the restaurant/ cafe and enjoyed a relaxed afternoon lunch. The ingredients used were fresh and the taste was awesome. Service was exemplary as well.

The way to the station is not easy to find. The entrance is actually next to the carpark and need to walk 10 mins thru the country trail. After getting up to the mountain, you can walk to a temple in 700m. There is also a restaurant at the top of mountain that not far away from the terminal. It is highly recommend to those who travel to Niigata.

Wonderful and friendly staff. There are a lot of stairs, so be ready. Amazing view of the villages, sea, and the island. There is a shuttle bus from the parking lot to the gondola entrance. You can also hike the mountain if you want. There is a restaurant at the top.

Amazing view of the villages & sea. Either take the ropeway or just hike in the mountain. There is small play ground at top for kids. Restaurant is at top. Free shuttle bus from Yahiko shrine to cable car station is available however it’s just a 15 min walk only. The ropeway staffs are very good.

Hydrangea Season,
They can be seen in Tokyo area and other places all over Japan but a special place to visit is Mount Yahiko in the Niigata prefecture. At 634 meter height you can expect about 10000 Hydrangeas to bloom during the main season from mid-June to mid-July.
This is also the raining season, but Hydrangeas love the rainwater and it is therefore the best tome to go!!
Another lower level Park in the same Niigata prefecture is the Gomadoyama Ajisaien Garden. The Gomado Mountain is 274 meter and there are trails from the base to the peak that can be reached within a 40 minutes’ walk.

The temperature was 10 degrees Celsius with occasional light rain, so an older man in his 50s wearing sneakers, jeans, and a folding umbrella could easily climb the mountain, but the view at the top was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, I was sweating from climbing the stairs for most of the 75 minutes, and even though I changed clothes at the top, I was completely cold when the climb became easier.
Although the mountain trail is not slippery, I was scared to go down, so I took the ropeway down.
The mountain trail is in excellent condition, but we recommend shoes with sturdy soles rather than sneakers.
Lack of exercise like me can take its toll, so the hot springs I went to afterwards felt really good.

We took a break to eat on the way and reached the top in about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
There are great views in some places, and from the top you can see Sado across the Sea of Japan.

The shrine complex of Yahiko Shrine is situated in a lush forest at the base of Mount Yahiko, and boasts a rich history spanning centuries. About 15 minutes walk from Yahiko Station.
It was a visit in the rain, but there were many worshipers. There is a mountain behind the main shrine, but when the rain stopped, the fog turned to the sky and it was a mysterious sight.
If you go by train, there aren't many trains, so it's a good idea to check the time.

There was a flower exhibition when I visited. So there was a whole bunch of flowers on display. The shrine itself is decently large and even had an animal pen with deers in there! The shrine is surrounded by lush greenery and exudes calm and soothing peacefulness. It is however quite out of the way to visit as it requires a few train changes and limited ways of leaving. Making the trip a day commitment. But it was well worth it for me!

Go to Yahiko station and then walk about 20 minutes according to the available signs.
Yahiko station is an old station, still retains the old architecture and does not have an automatic card check counter. There will be staff to check train tickets.
There is also a treasure that is a 2.3m long sword called Shida no Otachi, the longest sword and included in the list of Cultural Property of Japan.
In particular, in the temple grounds there are two stones called "Hi no tama ishi" (火の玉石) which means "stone of fireballs", or commonly known as "Omokaru no ishi" (重) 軽の石) means "light heavy stone". It is said that when standing in front of these two stones, pray, then if you lift the stone and it feels light, your wish will come true, but if it is heavy, the wish will not come true.

Came here by car. Easy to get to. Huge parking space, easy access. The shrine is big and really nice to visit, the personnel (mikos) friendly and helpful. Just don't expect English. Japanese is required, however broken it may be. There's also a tourist district which we took a wide berth around because I don't trust these kinds of places in general.
Anyway I wanted to buy Omamori and the miko was nice and patient enough to explain to me what the difference between them was.
We came back two days later by train. More of a pain, but still doable. Also the train station looks amazing. They're really trying to sell the whole shrine asthetic.

Niigata City Aquarium Marinepia Nihonkai, situated near the sea, is a must-visit attraction featuring a dolphin show, fish-filled tunnel tank and exhibits of penguins and sea lions. The entry fee is reasonable at 1500 per adult with options to dine at their restaurant or food stall that serves slightly overpriced food. Its accessibility through bus connections from Niigata station makes it easy to reach for families with kids.
Wonderful experience!
Please visit the place, much better if you come together with your family. It's my second time around here but still i love to keep on coming back, especially watching a dolphin show. Thank you so much Niigata City Aquarium.😍💗

A wonderful experience, being able to see marine animals so close and enjoy a dolphin show. This show of dolphins and also walruses has marked schedules for better organization of the event. The place has an amphitheater to sit and enjoy the show, in the first places there is always a lot of water when the dolphins play in their acrobatic demonstration, therefore it is very fun when the person is willing to wet their clothes and laugh a lot. ...they also have a souvenir shop with stuffed animals, stationery, keychains all themed around animals found in the aquarium... it's worth going again, it's a wonderful experience 💞

A must visit if you're a huge fan of dolphins. The dolphin show was THE highlight of the entire place. Perhaps even my entire Niigata portion of my trip. The show is a 10mins feast for the eyes as the dolphins strut and show off their stuff doing aerial tricks and frolic under water. The rest of the aquarium has the typical stuff you'd find at one. The giant main tank and other individual tanks housing the myriads of fishes and marine life. The whole aquarium is split into 4 sections. 1) The indoor tanks area. 2) The dolphin theater. 3) The seal habitat and 4) The penguin/Arctic area. I enjoyed the dolphin show so much I stayed way longer than I anticipated. (Went for 3 shows even haha)

Nagaoka is a city on Japan’s main Honshu Island. In the center, near the Shinano River, the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art has 20th-century Japanese works and a sculpture garden. Niigata Prefectural Museum of History exhibits prehistoric Jōmon pottery. North of the city, the grand Yahiko Shrine sits at the foot of Mount Yahiko. A cable car ascends to the peak. Southeast are the hot springs of Yomogihira.

I'll never travel to Niigata without this trip planner again
The Befco Bakauke Observation Deck, located on the 31st floor of the Toki Messi building, offers breathtaking panoramic views of both the city and surrounding waters through its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Visitors can enjoy unobstructed vistas in all directions, taking in the entirety of Niigata's stunning landscape. While nighttime visits are still impressive, be mindful that bright lights may reflect off camera lenses.
Great view from the top of this tower.
One of the highlights in Niigata.

Free entrance to the 31st observation deck.
The shop on the 31st floor opens at 10:00am
Accessible by walk from Niigata station.
Very good view of whole city, harbor and sea.
Reshma Soiru — Google review
The glass is not good for taking pictures at night, it is quite dirty as well. However, considering it is free and only takes around 7 minutes from the station by car, if you dont have anything else to do you can just go here, but don’t expect too much.
Aulia Oktadiputri Listiyadhi — Google review
Free! I was there twice during day and night and both views were amazing. Bud during the day You get better photos of the city because at night there is reflection of the lights.

Free observation deck tower with a great view. If you travel to Niigata prefecture, I recommend you to go there. You can go on foot from the Niigata station.
Shellvia Dhermianty — Google review
Free observation tower with a great view and fantastic place to catch the sunset. They had an event cafe at the time we went (snoopy) though the cafe closed at 1830. The elevator with the window is on the second floor heading to the hotel Entrance on the left nearest the wall.
Relik Starr — Google review
Beautiful views of the city and beyond. Be warned that if you go at night the lights are a bit bright so they reflect off the glass into your camera if you take a picture. At least when I went there was some private event preventing the north east side from being viewed. The rest of the view was still very nice. Also be sure to visit the toilets as the east view is visible from there!

Beautiful view of the sunset and magnificent night view of the city from the 31st floor all for free. Definitely worth the visit. Has a small cafe with delicious food and souvenirs.

One of my fav place in Niigata city. You can go inside the Nikko Hotel near Tokki messe and go to the top floor. You can see the view of whole niigata city
tria cielo — Google review
At the time of writing 'toki messe' is said to be the tallest building in Niigata. You can get to the 31st floor in the dedicated lift at the ground floor.
A fee is charged for the parking only. No entrance fee.
At the observation deck you'll be able to see almost 360 view of Niigata, including the harbour and airport.
imo its best to be at the top in the late afternoon and to be there untill dark to see the city lights.
There is also a restaurant and a souvenir shop at the deck. They dont allow food from outside.
Lavatory facilities are also provided at the observation deck.

Very easy to find the observation deck, and completely free. Just take the elevator up to the 31st floor — there’s a dedicated elevator so it’s easy.
Cafe on the 31st floor is pretty basic but I did have a nice Japanese pancake with some chocolate.
Night view of Niigata city was totally worth it!

Went for vaccination. It was big place and many different buildings are there. Lot of people came for vaccination. Before i had my Japanese exam in this location. This is tallest seaside building in Japan. This is mainly hotel building.

What a view from the 31st floor of the observation deck! You can see it’s entire views of Niigata City and Sado Island in the far distance if it’s clear weather. I’ve enjoyed watching “Portable Shrine” called Mikoshi on the boat during 2019 Niigata Matsuri Festival from here. It was well air conditioned and comfortable to stay when it was very hot outside. There are a souvenir shop and a cafe.

Minato Marche Pier Bandai is an energetic indoor setting that offers a variety of fresh seafood, meat, and locally sourced produce. Although smaller than the Tokyo fish market, there are still numerous excellent options available. Instead of cooked seafood restaurants, there are more sashimi and grilled fish related establishments at this location. In addition to the fish market offerings, adjacent vegetable and meat markets provide additional choices for visitors.
I was in heaven. Good sushi with thick slice of fish, lot other things to taste. All fresh and very affordable. Does not smell like other fish market. Very clean for a fish market. I recommend it. Do not miss this place. Not a very big place. Also good coffee and ice cream.
Valois Nadeau — Google review
Definitely must-visit place for visitors, especially you like local marketplace and casual restaurants. It is like in between old marketplace and fancy marketplace. There are fish market, meat market, and grocery store. Very clean and some options for restaurants as well. Closed to Sado ferry terminal.
Sooncheol Kwon — Google review
A collection of stores ranging from a fish market to local produce to butchery to an alcohol section. I got some sashimi from the fish market which was decent, fresh however the selection was lacking. The alcohol store is really well stocked and those who need their boozy fix can definitely hit this place up!

This is a nice weekend adventure. It is a small fish market with lots of variety. You can purchase fresh seafood from the market and cook on sight. Be sure to check availability and reservation of BBQ and seats before hand. BBQ season starts in summer months. I enjoyed original flavored ice cream at Hang Loose. The seasonal flavor was Tomato at the time.

I went there on 8/4 ( Friday ), the day after Nagaoka Matsuri.
The opening time is 1030am and I arrived on 1045am. There was a long queue at that time. After the queue, I took the ticket on 11am and the number was 88. I entered my japan phone number so I could walk outside of the restaurant, I got the phone calling on 1315pm.
I waited until 1345pm to have the seat. I could take the sushi on the conveyor belt or ordered directly to the sushi master.
The quality of food was good, I will recommend 特大赤エビ, エビフライ and pudding ( original favour ) [ XL Red shrimp. Fried shrimp and original puddings ]
Cost ¥8800/ 2 adult ( we both ate so much )
I left on 1430pm.

Pier Bandai fish market 新潟魚市場 in Niigata is not as big as the one in Tokyo but still with many nice choices. But unlike in Tokyo where there are a lot of restaurants where cooked seafood is served, here are more related to sashimi and grilled fish. Next to the fish market, there are vegetable and meat markets and there are more restaurants. Yet, price is definitely a lot cheaper here. After all, Niigata is a small compared to Tokyo :)

Really fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Outside area has common chairs and tables where you can eat the food you purchased from the fish market. There’s also a supermarket that sells local produce and a few restaurants and coffee places. Worth the visit. We took the city loop bus to get here.

There’s a lot of restaurant there, not only selling fish but also there’s a liquor shop, meat shop, and vegetable shop. But definitely you should try a sashimi set there, very fresh and cheap compared with Tokyo
Yukyuzan Park is a city park located in Nagaoka that offers pleasant walks amidst seasonal flowers. In addition to strolling, visitors can also enjoy the park's zoo, baseball field and swimming pool. Shibata Castle Ruins, a flatland-style castle situated in the heart of the city, is a well-preserved piece of Japanese history that can be visited seasonally. Although it only takes 15-20 minutes to explore this small but quaint attraction, it may not be as impressive as other competing sites in the area.

A very nice but small piece of Japanese history that has been preserved very well over the years. It is one of the smaller castles located in Japan. I found it a little disappointing to see how some of the castle property is currently occupied by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. The staff was so kind and welcoming.
They even had an English pamphlet for me.
Luckily we went on a weekday so we were the only people on there.
There are several historical buildings, a beautiful pond/garden, and even a museum full of interesting things. Though, there is no English for the museum descriptions.
It was a gorgeous place full of history and I'm glad I was able to experience it.

The moss is also beautiful.
Most of the moss is of the type ``Umasugigoke.''
The Shibata River flowing nearby and the pond in the garden
It is said to maintain high humidity, which is good for moss growth.
Fallen maple leaves on green moss.
It was beautiful, just like the picture.
You can also tour the ``Ashigaru Nagaya'' on the road across the river, as it is included in the 700 yen admission fee.
It is a tenement house with eight doors with a thatched roof.
The main house is 9 tsubo, with a 2 tsubo kitchen and a 1 tsubo dirt floor.

Fresh greenery is good, but I also recommend visiting during the autumn leaves season.
Enjoy the feeling of calming and purifying your mind.

A restaurant where you can buy a ticket at the ticket vending machine → order → pick it up when it's ready. Water is self-serve. I had some soba, but it was light and tasteless. I even wanted to drink the soup. The soba noodles were ice cold. It was great and smooth to the touch. Also, if you go to the back, there seems to be a cutlery shop and a tour boat ticket office, so I would like to use the tour boat next time. There were no local fresh vegetables.
There is a place you can go to the back! The river and scenery are beautiful. Please enjoy the scenery.

(Translated by Google) It's a roadside station where you can go downstream, and I stopped by for a stamp rally.
The stamps are inside the store, so you can only use them when the store is open.
This is probably a facility where river rafting has existed for a long time, and I think the souvenir shop that was there was registered as a roadside station or something. Just my imagination...
So, although it doesn't have brand new equipment, it has a good taste and I like it very much.
The souvenir shop is especially good, and there are many things that can only be purchased here. ! I think.
For example, a sword 🥷...
It's interesting to watch. I had never heard of river rafting until I came here, but I wanted to try it someday. I didn't do it this time.
It's a very quiet place in the mountains, so it's a great scene at night, so I think it's suitable for sleeping in your car. !
If I have a chance, I would like to try this challenge.
The next time I stop by this area, I will definitely stop by this roadside station.

Time-adjusted shaved ice
■Agano Yuki (small)
I was very satisfied with the delicious "Nodoguro-don" and on my way to my accommodation for the night, I stopped at a roadside station to adjust my time before checking in.
I thought it was soft serve ice cream time, but I changed my plans after seeing the shaved ice sign (lol)
So-called "strawberry milk" made with strawberries called Echigohime
Fluffy shaved ice with plenty of strawberry syrup and condensed milk
It was a good time to eat shaved ice and look for local products.

There are excursion boats in Mikawa as well, but I personally preferred this one.
I think the name of this place was Kanose? As you proceed along the river, there are many bridges and there seem to be 12 tunnels starting from Mutsuki. The road is narrow.

(Translated by Google) I went to this place yesterday from the capital towards Agano River. I took a break ☕️😃🚬 in the Moshimoshi area on the way and went to the roadside station Aganogawa. Along the way, we carried out extensive checks on the truck's loading capacity and securing. There were many people on bike tours at the roadside station. I looked around at the souvenir shops in each store, but the prices were soaring compared to before. I bought folding scissors from Tsubame Sanjo. Also, I went to eat miso ramen🍜. It was very delicious. 😋🍴💕There were a lot of vegetables. The noodles were thin and chewy, and the miso had a mild taste that I finished eating. On the way home, I went from Murakami City via Shibata City to the White Forest in Oguni Town, Yamagata Prefecture, and from there I took a high speed train to my favorite ⛽️ gas station in Kaminoyama City, and then arrived at my home 🏠️. On the way, near Utsu Pass in Oguni, I suddenly looked up at the sky and saw clouds shaped like an outstretched hang glider on top of a mass of clouds, to the left of Mt. Iide, where there was still some snow. I did. I thought I should take a photo 📷️ since it was so rare, but there was a lot of traffic so I just went home. I thought it would be fine if nothing happened, but then I was surprised to find out that it was the earthquake that happened last night. I was sleeping with the TV on and the alarm started going off, and it felt like it was shaking for about 20 seconds. The actual seismic intensity felt like 5th. After the shaking subsided, I went outside and saw that the disaster prevention personnel in the town were checking for safety and checking for any abnormalities. After that, I went back to my house🏠️, watched TV, and fell asleep around 12:00.

When I got on the train, the weather was rainy and I thought it was going to rain at any moment. Fog is already springing up in various places on the mountains that approach the railroad tracks and rising into the dull-colored sky, while the Agano River that snakes just below is a deep jade color, rippling with rising water, and crashing against the rocks, rolling backwards and breaking into white. As if scattering with flowers. Villages with thatched roofs covered with corrugated iron that appear from time to time in the cedar forest, but the deep eaves stand heavy in the twilight summer rain, and there is not a soul in sight. I can't help but wonder what on earth is going on here... As we neared the end of the somewhat gruesome journey through the mountain folds and riversides, Niitsu, we finally saw a well-lit ``house,'' and although it was rude, I felt relieved.
