It took about 30 minutes from the expressway to reach the Yushin Valley parking lot, and from there it took about 3 hours to climb the mountain on foot.
After passing through two pitch-black caves, you'll be exhausted from the deep-blue scenery! The fatigue was blown away.
On the way home, you will have to walk quite a bit...it will be tiring, so be sure to prepare accordingly!
When I changed my shoes after going down the mountain, I saw that Yamabiru was sucking blood, so don't forget to take precautions against Yamabiru! Don't go there wearing short sleeves and short pants if you feel like sightseeing!

It is approximately 9km from Kurokura Tanzawako Visitor Center to Yushin Lodge (currently closed), and the round trip is approximately 19km.

(Translated by Google) Yushin Blue is currently unavailable! !
I visited in April 2020.
At the end of March 2020, the forest road to Yushin Valley was fully opened, so you can still go to Kumaki Dam.
However, the point to be careful is that everyone, including myself, is probably looking for Ushin Blue.
Unfortunately, both Kurokura and Kumaki dams were unable to store water due to a disaster several years ago and are now completely drained. Therefore, Yushin Blue cannot be seen.
According to the website, water storage will start again around January 2020, so I think we'll be able to see Yushin Blue again after that.
I'm looking forward to that day.
I visited at the end of April because I had some free time during Golden Week and because I wanted to check the current situation.
It is about an hour and a half walk from the free parking lot next to Kurokura Shoten to Kurokura Dam. It takes about 3 hours to get to Kumaki Dam.
There are toilets and vending machines next to the parking lot, so make your final preparations here.
The journey seems to be a series of very gentle climbs, but it doesn't feel strenuous.
The road is well maintained, but there are traces of falling rocks in some places.
If there is a direct hit during this year's typhoon season, I don't know what will happen again.
Even if you can't see Yushin Blue, it's a good hike in terms of route and time, and the scenery is good, so I recommend it.
Above all, there are not many people! ! I guess this is the most appealing thing. Even though it was during Golden Week, I only passed a few people.
It's a nice and quiet place.

The Saruhashi bridge is a unique and historically significant wooden bridge located in a scenic park filled with maple and ginkgo trees that are particularly popular during autumn. With dimensions of 30.9m length, 3.3m width, and 31m height, it is supported by four layers of Hanegi without any piers. The well-constructed bridge provides stunning views of the surrounding water body and is connected to a museum via stairs leading down from the park.
The Saruhashi Bridge (猿橋) is also known as the 'monkey bridge'. Spanning the gorge of the Katsura River, it is a prime example of the hanebashi design. The bridge is supported by a series of cantilever beams set in the opposing cliff faces. Built mid-18th century, the Saruhashi was along the Koshu Kaido (main highway of the Edo period). We briefly stopped to enjoy the elegant design of the bridge and the scenic beauty of the gorge filled with ginkgo and maple trees.
The name 'monkey bridge' is associated with a local legend in which monkeys bridged the chasm with their bodies so that a couple could cross during the Nara period. A later story tells that the original rickety plank structure was so precarious that "only an agile monkey could cross it".

It’s historically important wood bridge, Saruhashi. It’s so beautiful.
With a length of 30.9m, a width of 3.3m, and a height of 31m, it is a special one that does not use piers at all, and is supported by four layers of ”Hanegi” that overhang from both banks that rise sharply.

Bridge and river are nice but the view is ruined by the 3 other modern bridges they've built right next to it. Still, if you're in the area it's worth a walk over. The river looks good for a swim the summer too.

Saruhashi Bridge, which spans the deep and beautiful valley of the Katsuragawa River, is called one of Japan's three strange bridges, along with ``Iwakuni Kintai Bridge'' and ``Kiso Pier'' due to its unusual structure. The unique scenery of the bridge, which spans a beautiful valley that changes with the seasons, is said to be one of the most scenic spots on the Koshu Highway, and has been visited by many writers and artists. Among them, Hiroshige Utagawa (Ando) was so moved by the beauty of Saruhashi that he left behind a book called ``Koyo Saruhashi no Zu''.

The Hakone Open-Air Museum, established in 1966, aims to blend nature and art seamlessly. It spans across 77,000 acres of Japanese countryside and showcases an extensive collection from renowned international and local artists such as Miro, Rodin, and Yoshitatsu Yanagihara. The museum features outdoor sculptures by notable artists like Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth set against the backdrop of Hakone's lush hills.
Beautiful open air museum set in an incredible mountain backdrop. Lots of awesome sculptures including some interactive ones that kids can play on. There’s also an awesome indoor Picasso exhibit with 300 works (no photos allowed). Quite a bit of walking, so something to keep in mind if you’re differently able, although there are ramps which is good. Worth noting is the gift store - one of the most unique I’ve seen, so bring some spending money for that!

Definitely a must see in the autumn. The beautiful fall colors really make this museum magical. I’m additional to the grounds and various statues and exhibits, there is also a Picasso exhibit. We waited in line for 15-20 minutes in the morning on a weekend, which is not too bad. If you can buy tickets in advance, go for it, but still worth the wait. The grounds are spacious, so we did not feel crowded although it was pretty busy. Love the art!

A really nice place to visit while you're in Hakone. There are a lot of interesting pieces of art and we enjoyed walking around on our last morning in the area. I wouldn't say to go out of your way to visit here, but if you have time and you're nearby, it's worth it. The Picasso gallery was very interesting, I was surprised to see that they had so many original pieces in such a remote museum in Japan.
There are quite a few interactive sections for kids. And there is a lot of English.

Place is vast. We went during August, so it's summer. It was very hot so we have to go around the place quickly. Here you can see different arts and architecture coming from various artist from different parts of the world.
They also showcase some of Picasso's best work together with brief stories about it.
Nice place to visit if you love art, but the place itself has a nice ambience and a good place to just relax and enjoy the view.

Really enjoyable, especially if you have a nice weather day. It was extremely windy today but sunny so it was manageable. It’s a beautiful space and the art is interesting. It reminds me of Louisiana Art Museum in Denmark with a less-impressive indoor collection (Hakone’s) although they have a Picasso ceramic exhibit which was cool to see. I’d love to have had coffee/a snack here but it just wasn’t the day for us for that.
If you’re in the area it’s worth it to come here. I don’t know if I’d take a special trip just for this place but to each ‘er own.
The architecture is awesome, too. I was kinda sad that adults aren’t allowed to play in the net installation.

This museum for me is beautiful! It's a mixture of art appreciation and relaxation. They have a museum for some of Picasso's work . The kids have areas to have fun too! They have a maze, an activity area and craft area. There were families with small children when we visited. And after a long walk around the meandering green, one can relax at a foot bath beside the cafe.

Very unique museum that's expansive and beautiful to walk through, with special exhibit as well like the Picasso museum. Went on a weekend and the weather was beautiful. Among my favourite museums, wish all museums were open air concepts, refreshing and not stuffy that way. Surrounding mountains were a nice touch, can’t imagine those were easy to install. Even in the winter, the yellowing grass contrasted well with all the exhibits, will absolutely be coming back again soon.
Favourite piece was the metallic wedge of charred humans limbs; very heavy metal. And in contrast to that absolute darkness, my second favourite was the light bending glass tower that to my surprise, was decorated in pictures almost hidden if you don’t look carefully enough. I made it to the top but my battery died, so no picture but I will return in the spring and bring either a phone charger or a briefcase full of batteries to avoid the humiliation I faced carrying around a dead phone.

This is a stunning art museum with many interesting and aesthetically pleasing art installations. There are many large-scale art design projects nearby, and inside the museum, there is a Picasso art museum for enthusiasts to visit. The indoor design of the spiral tower is particularly impressive and not to be missed. This is definitely a must-visit art museum.

The reason this place is really nice is because you can take your kids to museum but you don't have to be too worried about making them quiet.
As long as it's a nice weather, you can basically spend the whole day slowly walking around, and let your kids run around.
All the sculptures and the art is also dynamic and is in harmony with the nature.
You cannot get proper food there as there's only hot dog that can be counted as food. He brought small sandwiches for our kids.

It’s a sculpture museum featuring lots of open space and interactive pieces. There are several facilities designed for children, and many visitors, mostly Japanese people, take their children with them. It’s a nice refreshing stop that can add some fresh air into your trip. I recommend paying attention to the weather forecast as the region is very prone to fog and rain.

It was an absolute delight exploring the vast collection of outdoor sculptures and the captivating works of Pablo Picasso. 🏞️💫
The museum's picturesque setting amidst the stunning Hakone mountains created a serene atmosphere that perfectly complemented the art on display. From the moment we stepped foot into the museum, we were greeted by a world of beauty and creativity. The open-air concept allowed us to appreciate the sculptures in their natural surroundings, and it felt like walking through an artistic wonderland. 🌿🗿
The Picasso Pavilion was a true highlight of our visit. We were mesmerized by the diverse range of Picasso's masterpieces, showcasing his innovative and ever-evolving style. The museum did an excellent job of curating the exhibition, providing insight into the artist's life and artistic journey. It was fascinating to see iconic paintings, ceramics, and sculptures up close, and to witness the depth of Picasso's creativity. 🎭🖌️
What made the experience even more enjoyable was the museum's interactive features. We were able to participate in various art installations and even create our own masterpieces at the workshop. 🎨 The knowledgeable staff were friendly and provided valuable information about the artworks, enhancing our understanding and appreciation of Picasso's genius.

No need to get your tickets in advance for this museum. You can get your tickets at the entrance and even if there is a q it moves pretty fast.
More than anything this place is worth visiting as it is a the space is so beautifully designed that it is easy to walk around and gives the impression of vastness.
There space is big yet cleverly integrates art with nature so that even though there are loads of statues and structures, you never feel stifled or overwhelmed. In fact you will want to walk a lot more to take in all of them.
There are loads of outdoor sculptures by various artists and some are rather interesting. Although i think the word art might be a bit stretched here on occasions when you look at the sculptures or when you read the inspiration of these artists behind their work.
Loads of outdoor exhibits and in general 2 big spaces that allow for more interaction.
One is the Woods of Net which has a net structure within a wooden dome structure that allows for children to use it as a sort of net playground that they can climb on and swing on.
The other is a flower petal like maze that you can walk in and try to find your way out, albeit confusing i must say. In the end i walked the same way back out the way i entered instead of finding the other exit.
As for indoor exhibits, there are 3 (Hakone master piece collection, multi hall that is at the exit, and Picasso Pavilion).
I think the one that people generally spend the most time, is at the Picasso Pavillion. Interestingly instead of chronologically displaying his works or capturing it according to his life:
“This latest exhibit deconstructs the artist himself, presenting perspectives from different angles, such as subject matter and technique, and different points in time, by date of the artwork, so that the viewer may then reconstruct their image of Picasso.
For this exhibit, works from the Picasso Collection have been divided into 17 themes, creating a free and natural exhibition space unbound by chronology.
The Picasso of this exhibit is one who defies definition by a single perspective or specific point in time—Picasso as a continuum transcending time and space.”
The one i enjoyed the most was the symphonic structure. There a circular tower captures the four seasons through stained glass that leads you to an open air space on top with a great view of the museum and the trees and mountains beyond.

My family and I spent a few hours, before it closed for the day, and there was still a good bit of exhibition to which we did not get. But, it was a delightful experience, and we will return.

Gora Station is a key transportation hub in Hakone, providing access to popular attractions such as Ashi Lake and Mount Fuji. Visitors can reach Ashi Lake via the Hakone Ropeway or local buses, with accommodation options mainly concentrated on the eastern shore near the ropeway station. On clear days, stunning views of Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from this area.
It is such a beautiful train station in Hakone. The design more like western or Switzerland building than Japanese. Me and family had 3 times visited here and never get bored with everything happened in Hakoke. The fresh air, cleaniness, the people are so nice and very helpful. I will visit again Hakone in the near future. Many places I have not seen during my last visit there.

A lovely station, can get busy and crowded but it’s well managed and organised.
The cable car ride is very enjoyable, the views are amazing on a clear day.

A nice station that's like the central hub of Hakone. Outside, there are numerous restaurants and other vendors.
At this station, there's the cable car and the train. Though the train itself is pretty slow as it maneuvers through the hillside. It also does something interesting where it stops, reverses and takes another split line. Very interesting indeed.
Otherwise you'll find that overall a pleasant ride.

Super slick and well organised! There is signage everywhere to help you navigate your way to the lake area (if that is where you are going).
I advise buying a Hakone Freepass online then you skip all the queues for tickets. You have to buy normally, a ticket for each stop, the freepass make life a whole lot easier.
The views are amazing....we were hoping to see Mt. Fuji but the weather was not great.

Nice train ride. It takes a bit long to get up, but it's worth the experience. The bus is actually quicker, so if you don't mind the experience, take the bus for around ¥600-800 from Gora down to Hakone-Yumoto station

Arrive early to beat the day trippers heading up the mountain, especially on a clear day after days of rain and clouds.

The station hosts the Tozan Line Trains + the Hakone Cable Car which makes living around it / using it as base convenient. There are coin operated lockers or you can pay at the counter for them to take o your luggage till check-in time.
However, do take note that Gora area is a hillside slope and hence, walking around the area towards some directions can be a hike.

Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center is a must-visit for train enthusiasts. It showcases the future world’s fastest bullet train and features an exciting test track where visitors can witness the maglev in action, reaching speeds of up to 500 km/hr. The center offers informative exhibits on the cutting-edge technology behind this revolutionary mode of transportation, which aims to significantly reduce travel times between Kofu and Tokyo.
Terrific. Hard to reach. But worth it. The maglev train passes every 10 mins at up to 500 kph.

About 10 minutes by car from Tsuru Interchange. Free parking is available a short distance from the facility. There is also a disabled parking lot next to the facility.
There are two observation facilities next to the experimental line. The facility behind the site entrance is the main facility for visitors. The facility displays actual vehicles that were operated as test vehicles in the past.
On each floor, there are spectacular exhibits such as dioramas and videos summarizing the development history of maglev trains.
The linear motor car service on the experimental line starts at 10:30 am.
A lot of history has been accumulated since the experiment in Miyazaki Prefecture. I'm looking forward to the early business operation on the 1th.

If you are interested in trains you can easily spend 2-3 hours here. They do an excellent job of catering to foreign visitors with many of the displays, pamphlets and cinema experience subtitles offered in Japanese and English. To see the test runs, check the website calendar to see which days the tests will be run. Staff do not know when exactly the train will pass by. They run multiple tests per day and you can see on the screens/ hear in the (Japanese only) announcements when the train is about to pass by. Over the course of our 3 hour morning visit we saw the train go by about 8-10 times. There is a space on the second floor (both in the main building and the souvenir shop) with vending machines where you can sit and eat.

I stopped by on my way home from a day trip the other day.
Since I was a child, I was interested in it every time I ran on the Ken-O Expressway on family trips, but as an adult I was finally able to visit.
The parking lot at the facility is very large and easy to park.
In addition, although it is small, the walkway to the Doki Doki Maglev Museum has a roof, which was very helpful as it was raining that day.
The maglev tour center is very clean, and there are restrooms, shops, etc.
It was very beautiful.
Also, a demonstration event was being held just at the time we visited, and the moderator was giving a detailed explanation and demonstration. I think that both children and adults can enjoy it because it explains in detail how the linear system floats and how it works.
* I am an adult, but I think it is perfect for children's free research.
Also, the quality of the diorama that introduces tourist facilities in Yamanashi Prefecture is very good.
I wasn't able to see it, but there was also a day when they were doing a powerful test run.
It seems that it is better to check in advance if you are interested.
*I could not see the test run, but I enjoyed it very much.
I love museums like this, so I hope they will continue to be open for a long time to come.
We are looking forward to the operation in 2027.

Good place where you can learn about the concept on magnetic levitation train and can experience actual test. It is also possible to enjoy mini lavi. Highly recommended for both children and adults who have interest on new technologies.
However the access for the location from highway was little bit confusing. The roads are very small.

Unfortunately, foreign tourists are unable to apply for a test ride. But the rest of the exhibition centre is still great, with some of the best foreign language support in Japan. During test run days, the linear runs past about every 5 minutes. The diorama is really good and displays a lot of attractions around Yamanashi in an interesting way. The staffs are knowledgeable and welcoming as well. Definitely recommend for train lovers and families.

Thanks to the governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, the maglev train is booming. The name of the souvenir shop is "STORE2027", but I wonder if it will change if the opening is postponed...
By the way, this facility is located in Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Along the national highway from Shizuoka, there are supermarkets, home centers, electronics stores, etc., and the impression is that it is a very livable town. In fact, I see new detached houses here and there.
The Linear Observation Center is located in the mountains on the outskirts of such a town, surrounded by idyllic rural scenery.
The parking lot for general cars is a little far from the facility, and you need to be careful with strollers because it is a slope.
This time, my family was 0 and 2 years old and it seemed difficult to stay for a long time, so we only used "Pounding Linear Hall".
420 yen per adult. cheap.
Although we didn't get to see the train in action, we were very satisfied with the spectacular contents, such as the actual linear motor car, various materials, a mini-maglev train, and a tour of experiments.
There is also a kids' room, but due to corona measures, reservations are required and the area in the kids' room is limited (don't you think that children can be protected?).

Dream of a swinging train, almost fly in the air. A linear motor produces straight-line motion rather than rotation. The Superconducting Maglev levitates about 4 inches above the guideway and travels up to 311mph. Magnetic force prevents the train from crashing into guideway walls.
The magnets employed are superconducting, which means that when they are cooled to less than 450 degrees Fahrenheit below zero, they can generate magnetic fields up to 10 times stronger than ordinary electromagnets, enough to suspend and propel a train.
Superconductors only gain their superconducting powers at these really cold temperatures. In their super conducting state, they will levitate on a magnetic track because at this super cold temperature the electrons in the atoms of the ceramic material interact with the magnetic fields from the magnets on the track.

Alrighty - Full English guide for it:
Worth a visit! But only on test days, otherwise the train is not running between the stations. You will find the test days on the website. On the day I was there, itkept running between the stations every 5-10minutes, you will be able to photograph it from both directions very frequently.
You will NOT be able to ride the train, this is not happening here and only possible as japanese citizen plus months or years of waiting in advance (and I think it is a lottery).
A bit annoying to get to, either you get off at Kasei station when coming from Mt Fuji, or Tanokura station when coming from Tokyo. From both it is around 20min walking, while from Kasei station with additional steep walk! Rely on Google Maps, that works fine - although there are no signs pointing the way. Couldnt find any bus connection directly to the centre. You could also walk from the JR station from Otsuki, but this will take 1hr, however you would be able to reach the centre with the JR Pass, as the stations beyond Otsuki are not operated by JR and therefore you need to pay (and it’s comparatively expensive). Bring a Suica or Pasmo Card, as the ticket machine at Tanokura is not working!
If you have a car - easy going, free parking lot.
The Maglev exhibition centre is between the two ends, so you will be able to experience the roughly 500km/h outside on a terrace or inside from the observatory for 420 yen. There is also a free observatory about 50m further.
The exhibition is well made, and there will be a big explanation about the used tecnique, however most will be in japanese. Nice little shop, total of 3 floors, free coin locker available (100yen deposit).
Overall 5 stars (on test days), minus half for accessibility by public transport.

Ideally a visit here will include a ride on the Maglev train. However, if that is not possible and you don't speak Japanese than an hour will be more than enough to see the museum. There are exhibits explaining the science behind magnetic levitation, but there is no English. The rest of the exhibits are totally aimed at children and can be enjoyed regardless of language. A really good rainy day option.
Judy OBrien — Google review
It is a great place to see the Maglev going fastest in front of your eyes. They have exhibited whole experience in the form of dummy train, it’s mechanism and a short movie as well. You can drink coffee/cocoa from the vending machines inside.

It's a great place to witness the past and the future, as well as the ongoing developments of the Japanese superconducting maglev. The small museum houses an original maglev cab and the magnets themselves too. Most of the information is written in Japanese only, the occasional demo about how superconductivity works is also conducted in Japanese only. There is a viewing platform so one can watch the maglev test-runs on selected days. There is also a small park across the tracks where one can get an even better view on this section of the future Chuo shinkansen.

Amazing place. The POLA Museum of Art is a little out of the way, but can be reached easily enough by public bus from Gora station. There is a bus you can catch down the road from the Hakone Open Air Sculpture Museum. It's a good combination of doing these two things together in one day. The POLA Museum has artworks from Monet, Gaughan, Van Gogh, Matisse, Cezanne and plenty of other masters. There is a lovely cafe that makes good strong coffee. You can also get tea and cake. Such a nice museum. We went there when it was raining, and it made the museum more mystical. You can see so many glass collections and art, and of course you can also buy it on souvenir shop. They also have classes to make your own glass art. One unique thing, they have a store selling jams! But one thing to be prepared, there is no train heading to this museum, either you take your own vehicle or you take the bus. Which can be nauseating since it has so many winding roads. For people who easily get carsick, be mentally prepared.
Also, if you're a student, you will get student price to enter this museum. I say that's really great deal. Just tell them you're a student and show your student ID.

Tourist trap. Better described as the Impractical Drinking Vessel Museum. You pay 1800¥ to enter what felt like a shop. So, I'd say it's not worth going unless you have a real love for all things venetian glass or have nothing else to do and a pass that lets you get in for free.
A point of redemption was that the grounds were pretty nice and well kept, and there was a lovely place to sit and watch the creek and trees.

This is Japan’s first art museum specializing in Venetian glass, and exhibits works from the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries and also modern pieces. The pond on the grounds is in between the Venetian Glass Museum and the Modern Glass Museum where you can appreciate delicate glass crafts at each respective museum. Its medieval Venice-inspired garden also has spots where you can take photos. Listen carefully to the live canzone (Italian song) performances held every day while gazing at the scenery from the café restaurant on the grounds and you’re sure to find yourself feeling elegant. They also hold glasswork workshops, making this a spot you can enjoy all day long.

Owakudani, also known as Hell Valley, is a geothermic site in Hakone that offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding area. Visitors can take the Hakone Tozan Railway or local buses from Hakone-Yumoto Station to reach this forested and mountainous area. One of the main attractions here is the opportunity to eat black eggs boiled in hot springs, which are said to add seven years to your life for each egg consumed.
Beautiful area with many touristy shops and a museum detailing the local geology which is very fascinating (tix: 100 yen)! There is a nature trail connected to the main complex that requires reservations that provides a look at the local wildlife. Make sure to try the black eggs while you are here as they are delicious!

Black eggs! This oozing, green scar was caused by an eruption thousands of years ago and then there was a horrible mud slide that killed many people 100 years ago. Now they are working really hard to terrace the place. It truly feels like another planet and it smells like hell. I recall a time when you could walk out further to see where they cook the eggs but it’s all blocked off now. I suppose there may have been people who got sick from the noxious gas. I wish more areas were accessible for exploration. Still, I understand that is probably not safe. The ropeway is a great experience especially on a sunny day. We were lucky to catch it at a nice time in February. Looking forward to visiting again whenever we have a chance. Thanks for all the delicious hard boiled eggs over the years 🙏🎉😄

In the Owakudani area near the Hakone volcano there are places where hot smoke comes out of the ground (it's not a geyser) the smell of sulfur which scorches the ground in a yellow color. View of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fujiyama in Japan. It is amazing, don't miss the cable car ride, boating on the lake and visiting the open museum. It is said that the Japanese cook eggs in the hot springs which gives them a black color. A belief holds that eating one egg adds 7 years to life. The place also has a restaurant and sells ice cream, which is also black in color.

Visited Owakudani as part of an all inclusive package tour. Took the ropeway to reach the spot. The view from the top was very nice, with sulphur vents all over. There are a lot of souvenir stores do do shopping and the black egg and black ice cream to try out. It's definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful place to visit.
The peak is about 1044 meter high and you can see the inactive volcanoes and smokes coming out from the volcano.
However the smoke is very stingy because of its sulphuric property.
You have to take a Cable car in order to get to the top.
One of the most famous food is Black Egg or 黒卵.
The rumor about the black egg is that if you have one black egg then your life expectancy will increase to extra 7 years.
Its really very interesting rumor that almost 95% tourists buy Black eggs.
Really must visit once.

Easy to find, lovely atmosphere (not counting the dreadful smell of sulphur of course😆) . The ride on the gondola was nice and provided a lovely view on approaching the lake. The weather tho obscured Mt. Fuji ☹️
I liked that I could buy a one way or return ticket and use it anytime throughout the day. I do think that ¥2250 (return) is a rather pricey ride tho but I guess it's a tourist attraction.
I didn't like that the minimum number of eggs I could purchase was 5 - felt like a waste of resources since I couldn't eat that many and 3 ended up in the trash.
All round nice experience - I recommend it.

This place is so beautiful, really wish we would have done a little bit more research on things to do especially that you can walk to the area where the eggs are boiled. However, even without doing all this we still wouldn’t have had time to do anything else given that the ropeway closes relatively early. Definitely worth checking out though.

Fantastic experience! You can see the sulfur escaping the ground from the last eruption in 2015. The black eggs are supposed to extend your life by 7 years. And they have all kinds of food to try!
Ashley Johnson — Google review
Very beautiful place, accompanied with its common theme of "Black things" 😂. The black eggs were definitely interesting to say the least, somehow they tasted slightly different though i couldng describe it in words. The black ice cream was incredibly delicious. The sights of the mountains and volcanic vents were oddly comforting, showcasing the beauty of nature. It is also incredibly windy and considerably more cooler if you come here during the late autumn/winter season, than places with lower altitude.

There's nothing really to see here, it's cool to see the geothermal activity but it's not exactly pretty and the views are mediocre at best. The cable car was awesome though.

Such a cool ropeway that takes you directly over the thermal pools. Such a unique experience being there, smelling the sulfur, and eating the black eggs. Tons of cool snacks and souvenirs that are local to the area. Great views of Mt Fuji too if you get lucky with weather.

Not to be missed if you are in Hakone. You get to smell the sulfur and experience the black eggs and ice cream. Great experience! Highly recommend to book a tour in advance if you are looking for further exploration of the place.

Potentially the single best reason to purchase a Hakone transportation pass. This mountain top has some incredible views of Mt. Fuji and the mine on the back side. It’s accessible by cable car system, and serves a black egg that apparently extends your life - which I had no interest in trying.

Impressive spot!! Must go there while u are in hakone.
Part of the ropeway was under maintenance when we visited, so we laid 2500 yen round trip per person but only took a short ride.
Sky was clear, could see the huge Fuji!

Good place to visit. Bit expensive for cable car like round trip for 2.5 TJPY but still nice place to go. As Pic attached, you can also see the view of Fuji Mountain. In the shop here you can buy black egg and some souvenirs. Not recommend to buy black egg dumpling bread which tastes ... umm bread itself is really dry and rather propose to buy just black tamago

The Hakone Ropeway offers a breathtaking aerial gondola ride above a valley of volcanic craters. This 4km route from Tougendai station to Sounzan station passes through the Hakone mountains, providing ever-changing views of nature throughout the seasons. From cherry blossoms to red and yellow leaves, the scenery is stunning. On clear days, Mount Fuji can be seen in the distance.

Kuzuryu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to thenine-headed dragon, believed to reside in adjoining Lake Ashi. The beautiful scenery and nice little shrine makes it not well known to the masses, but it is a must see for anyone visiting Hakone.

Originally established in the year 757, the Nine-Headed-Dragon Shrine [Kuzuryu-jinja] reveres a nine-headed dragon. According to ancient legend, the dragon who lived at the bottom of Lake Ashi demanded a human sacrifice from the local villagers. A monk named Mangan Jyonin saved the villagers by subduing the dragon causing it to renounce its evil ways. The dragon became revered as a dragon king, and these days, a festival is held every year on July 31st to celebrate the nine-headed dragon king.

Lake Ashi also referred to as Hakone Lake or Ashinoko Lake, is a scenic lake in the Hakone area of Kanagawa Prefecture in Honshū, Japan. It is a crater lake that lies along the southwest wall of the caldera of Mount Hakone, a complex volcano that last erupted in 1170 CE at Ōwakudani. The lake is known for its views of Mount Fuji, its numerous hot springs, historical sites, and ryokan. The lake is located on the Tōkaidō road, the main link between Kyoto and Tokyo.

Lake ashi is absolutely beautiful! We arrived to togendai after a short bus ride from our hotel. There at the base, lake ashi had the lovely pirate ships coming back into port. Shout out to the Evangelion characters everywhere & the cool human sized figure in the station! Definitely a fan favorite, fun fact the anime is set in Hakone and lake ashi & Owakudani appear in the series 👏🏼
After a short walk enjoying the water front we caught the Hakone Ropeway for a scenic ride up the mountain side, it was Picturesque to say the least. As we got higher in elevation we could see Mt. Fuji with it's donut cloud hats lol As well as plumes of white smoke emerging and bursting out from the area up ahead. When you arrive at the top of Owakudani if your an egg fan you must try the "Kuro-Tamago" as called by locals, aka black eggs or sulfur eggs. There's a legend about life expectancy around them. Jōren Falls, a picturesque location along the Kano River, features an enchanting 25-meter waterfall that cascades into a pool. This natural wonder is steeped in folklore and boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can park their cars in the lot and take a lengthy staircase to reach the base of the falls, where they can witness wasabi cultivation that takes advantage of the area's pristine water sources. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate access to a nearby pond service on the river.
It was a very beautiful waterfall. I parked my car in the parking lot. A waterfall can be seen far below the parking lot. Take a long, long staircase to the waterfall. When I got down to the bottom, wasabi, a special product of Izu, was cultivated. It is agriculture that makes use of clean water. There was a fishing pond service on the river, and many people enjoyed fishing. There is a beautiful waterfall in front of you, and you can feel the negative ions throughout your body. On the way back, you have to go up the long long stairs. I am very tired. However, it is worth going to the bottom to see the waterfall.

The photos don't do it justice, it was more spectacular than I thought, especially in the rain. The surprising bonus was the small wasabi farm also in the gorge, so you can see the waterfall and get your wasabi hit (including buying fresh wasabi) in the same place.
There are about 200 steps and no wheelchair accessibility. No toilets in the gorge either.

This was a really beautiful spot to come and relax and take a short break away from Tokyo. It seems they created an irrigation system using the waterfall to continuously water all the wasabi plants, so the sound of all the water rushing through us really relaxing. They offer fishing and even sell some wasabi ice cream (it’s just vanilla ice cream with some wasabi on top. Be careful it’s super spicy haha we got heartburn after eating it and walking up all the steps). Definitely recommend it as a quick stop to anyone passing through Shizuoka, especially for the first time.

Pretty small waterfall might be better to try the trout fishing? Seems that would be a fair attraction I guess. Not bad for a pit stop or ice cream stop.

Waterfall is around 15mins walk from the parking area.
There is huge Wasabi farm around the waterfall.
Fresh wasabi from yard is kept for selling.
Shopping area is available near the parking area with all variety of WASABI snacks and ice cream.
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature.

Japan is well known for its beautiful waterfalls, and Joren Falls is exceptional. What makes it interesting is there is a wasabi farm next to the falls.. (so you can actually see how wasabi is grown). Also interesting is that you can go trout fishing from the river (for a fee). It’s well paved with wide steps which are steep, so the return back to the car park could be daunting. Free parking is available. Also on site is a souvenir shop that sells fresh wasabi and snacks.

Do you like falls? do you like wasabi? This place is a two for one. Yeah it's a tourist trap but one that I think that you will like if I was in the area I'd visit again. It is that nice. A little old. A little rundown but that's the charm.

If you're driving to Izu from Tokyo anyway this is a gorgeous & cool spot to visit. The waterfalls are so lovely. You can get wasabi ice cream or if that's too adventurous they also have Japanese summer orange, matcha, etc.

The Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium is a worthwhile destination for admirers of deep sea creatures. It features tanks containing a variety of well-maintained deep and shallow sea fishes, as well as invertebrates. The most notable exhibits include the dark room viewing of luminescent fishes from the deep sea and preserved specimens that come in blue and red colors, with hard bones stained red while soft ones are stained blue.
A must-visit in Numazu, likely one of the surprisingly best aquariums I’ve visited ever. We visited two hours before close on a weekday and there was a steady flow of visitors but it wasn’t too crowded at all. Compared to the chaos of the Osaka Aquarium that I visited last month, this was a much nicer experience.
Every tank is set up with so much care, and there is lots of information about the fishes. If you don’t know Japanese you’ll have to translate but it was no problem! My favorite exhibit was the isopod and ancient fish.

The exhibition at this aquarium was very nice. However, there are two problems. One is that the only payment method is cash. The second is that the staff's response is not good. The staff at the admission ticket office responded according to the manual, and the five-member family customer in front of me pitifully stopped admission and went home. The staff who guides you at the entrance cannot guide you smoothly. As a result, the passage before going to the back of the building became a large line, and many people complained. The end of the large line was very empty. I was disappointed. The inside of the aquarium was vacant and comfortable, unlike the area near the entrance. The exhibition of deep-sea fish was also devised. It was fun to watch.

THE COOLEST AQUARIUM I HAVE EVER VISITED! I like aquariums and museums. And this place has got great mix of both. They have very interesting deep sea creatures that you don’t find in regular aquariums and great ways of showing them. And the highlight of this place is their coelacanth museum! I don’t know anywhere else that you can see frozen coelacanths or a fish print of it. It was so cool. If you like aquariums or deep sea, this is a must visit place.

A great petit deep sea aquarium worth to visit. Tanks containing deep and shallow sea fishes as well as invertebrates are maintained very well. My highlights are dark room viewing of deep sea luminescent fishes and beautifully preserved fishes that come in blue and red. It says hard bones are stained red and soft ones by blue. They not just attached scientific interest but are really piece of art!
I would say relatively high admission of 1,600 pays considering its quality. Enjoy!

Fantastic little aquarium. Lots of Japanese tourists but almost no foreign tourists at all. It has the most extensive coelacanth exhibit and a wide variety of deep sea animals. Entrance fee is 1600 yen per adult. Queue can be a little long because the start of the exhibit requires you to queue up but the line moves quickly as people are very polite. A must go if you are in Suruga bay. Lots of restaurants around after you are done. Keep your ticket as sometimes the restaurants offer discounts when you show the ticket.

Very wonderful place to visit! You may spend 60-90 mins or more if you like. Opened in 2012 and getting popular once NHK, national broadcasting, released the video that captured gigantic squid alive in the deep sea.
Top features: 1) Coelacanths (both frozen and stuffing): Very rare in Japan due to strict trading rules these days. Those are imported before the regulations were effective.
2) Bathynomus giganteus
3) Fresh local deep sea creatures (Suruga bay is the deepest bay in Japan.)
One staff answered my questions so sincerely and in details. So nice! It seemed staffs are proud of and enjoy working there. They are effectively displaying all creatures, and hold some presentations (Japanese only by staffs).
Overall, kids must love this place and even some adults can enjoy a lot surely. Highly recommended place to visit! Note that weekends are so crowded. Go in the morning or weekdays. ;) Enjoy!
Kishikawa Tarz — Google review
It is a cute small aquarium, roughly would take 1.5 hours and 2 hours if you are really into learning deep sea. Beside the deep sea, they also some shallow reef organisms. The route is clear, tanks are diverse with clear Japanese and English explanation. They are keeping flapjack octopus and seems doing a good job on extending the cultivate period. The best part will be the collection of Coelacanth specimen, they are exhibit a dry one and two frozen.

At Minato Shinsenkokan, you can find tuna sashimi, etc. Dried fish are often bought outside at stores in shopping streets. I always buy horse mackerel, mackerel, and dried soy sauce mirin from Yondaime Yahei, which I will introduce in a separate article next time. Also, the souvenir that I always buy at Minato Shinsenkokan is ``Mekabut Tororo'', which I have also uploaded in the photo👍In the Showa era, it was sold at stores, but recently it has become more difficult to buy it. . “Ajiya” is the only one that sells it at Numazu Port. It's great for everyday cooking and miso soup (^^) Everyone, please try it once.

Numazu Port's View-O Flood Gate provides spectacular day and night views of Numazu City, Shizuoka, Mount Fuji and bodies of water that surround three of four directions. In the day, it is said that you can see Mount Fuji on a clear day. In the night, you are greeted by its luminous colours that light the observation deck and towers that support/move the flood gate, making it a sight in itself of the night.
Unfortunately, I was only able to visit during the night and catch the views during that time. However, with the December night that it was, not being cold on the outside and being warm inside the observation deck, it made for a nice, quiet overlook of the city interior and a hint of Mount Fuji resting behind a partly-cloudy night.
For 100円, you can get many nice photo opportunities up on the observation deck. Even at night, the lights-off interior and mainly-exterior lighting creates a relaxing... and, to some, romantic... ambience/aesthetic.
It's a must-visit during all seasons. Visitors to Numazu should make it a point to stop here and go through both sides of the port's inlet to discover what each side has to offer.

Splendid view of the sea and the town. Although on the day I went there, we couldn't see Mountain Fuji, the place was overall relaxing and there weren't that many people there. The price to get up to the observatory wasn't expensive. The wind was super strong, so if you go there on a specially windy day, be careful not to get anything blown away. The view of the view-o was beautiful looking from outside as well, since the sun was at just the right position, haha. If you're going on a hunt for a Love Live stamp, they have one here!

Kawazu Seven Waterfalls is a picturesque destination consisting of a series of seven waterfalls, varying in height from two meters to thirty meters. The falls are located along a roughly one-kilometer forest walking trail, which offers visitors the opportunity to explore each unique waterfall. The area provides a refreshing escape during hot summer days and can be conveniently accessed by bus.
Its totally worth making a stop here. Not too crowded normally and there are some souvenirshops around too. Right when you come down the free parking lot you will even find a shop that sells only wasabirelated stuff!
Note that its quite some stairs up if you want to see all the waterfalls.

Lovely park and totally worth the visit. Free parking in a big lot a couple minutes away by foot. Free entrance. Although there are barriers along the path and you can't get as close to all the falls as you'd like, this is a great area for a walk in nature to see falls that are completely different from one another.

Beautiful site. To see the 7 waterfalls you'll need to take quite a hike and the long stairs in the mountain can be a challenge for some but it's totally worth it. As a treat, after the walk on the mountain path you can enjoy the hot springs at the last waterfall. 7 different baths which are all at different temperatures. We went in February and it was still quite cold outside but the baths were still fantastic!

Don’t miss the 1st and 2nd which are actually located before the regular trail starts. There is a free parking lot, so don’t pay if you don’t have to. Enjoy a ice cream or snack at the small store near the start of the trail.

This is a beautiful nature area with walks along a stream with clear mountain water. Many of the falls are along the trail that is stroller and wheelchair accessible. Others are up a long staircase. There are restaurants and restrooms along parts of the path.

Really enjoy this place. Literally cool to visit during hot summer days. Easy ~2km hike to see all 7 falls, each unique, though I wonder what’s the minimum height of a waterfall here 🤔
If arriving by bus, get off at Mizutari (水垂) stop instead of the Kawazunanataki stop, so that you can start from first fall (猿田淵) upstream, and walk downstream to cover all 7 falls, instead of having to walk upstream then round trip back down.
Another tip, if traveling by bus, is to get the 2 day bus pass at one of the local train stations. Cover all buses between Shuzenji and Kawazu stations for 2400 yen.
Ps. got these tips from the very helpful tourist info center staff at Shuzenji station.

The area is a little built up with some businesses and locals but not to bad and allows for a nice path. You are not in the depths of a forest walking dirt paths.
But definatly worth visiting if you enjoy nature. If you not overly fit it's not to hard to reach some of them.

Such a perfect beautiful place to be. Hiking along the amazing 7 waterfalls and the forest is so refreshing. This place is worth a visit, it's peaceful here and the sound of the water relaxes the mind and heart. I suggest to bring a hand towel, extra tshirt and drink with you when you come, and also take a restroom first coz there is no restroom along the path. The pathways are well constructed but be prepared for the high and long stairways. This place is breathtaking..nature indeed is home. Will come here again for sure. One of the best hiking experience with nature.

Free parking is available at the beginning or the end of the self-guided tour. The trail is marked clearly if you start from the beginning.
It takes about an hour from waterfall #1 to #7, possibly a bit longer if you linger at the wishing stones, pay tribute to the Seven God statues or take photos. Maybe even enjoy a swim in the crystal blue water.
Most of the trail is paved with some steep steps which are manageable. In total it was almost a 2km hike just for the waterfalls (that’s round trip). The trail head continues with 3 more stops if you want to continue hiking in the area.

A must visit place when you are in Kofu, Yamanashi prefecture. Very uniquely designed structure. Variety of playing options for kids. You can see the whole city 🌆 from this hilly trace.
Mt. Fuji Children's World is a popular destination for children, offering an array of indoor and outdoor play areas, water activities, and opportunities to see animals. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, some facilities such as the fishing and water playground were closed. However, visitors can still enjoy the beautiful scenery by canoeing on the water. Once all park facilities are resumed to their normal operation levels, it is highly recommended that families visit Mt.

Kai Zenkoji is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Kofu with a grand entrance gate, vast hall and a legendary key believed to grant salvation. The grounds are not extensive, but the main hall is impressive and has an attractive weathered appearance. There is also a 'hell' in the pitch-black basement that visitors can go through to feel for a lock which adds to the experience.
A historic temple very worthwhile stopping by if you're in Kofu. The grounds are not huge, but the main hall is impressive and attractively weathered. There's a 'hell' you can go through feeling for a lock in the pitch black basement -- more fun than it sounds! Also take time to go off to the right of the main hall and there is a collection of interesting statues of Buddhist deities particular to the Yamanashi area.

It was erected when Shingen Takeda moved the Buddha statue of Zenkoji Temple to coincide with the Battle of Kawanakajima.
Even with such circumstances, how can you make such a splendid thing? It gives you a sense of history. It is interesting that the building is similar to Zenkoji Temple in Nagano.

A temple related to Takeda Shingen.
It's not big, but there's enough parking, and it's close to the road and the temple.
The grounds of the temple are not large, but the atmosphere of the building is solemn.
You can buy incense sticks for 200 yen, and the scent that rises from the large incense burner is impressive.

Really cool 16th century Buddhist temple. Heart kanji shaped basement “darkness” walk. Listen to the weeping dragons when you clap your hands from a specific spot. Some items stored here were moved from Zenkoji in Nagano for safe keeping during the Warring States Period.

Shosenkyo Gorge, located in Yamanashi, Japan, is a must-visit destination in autumn. This 1,250-square-kilometer area is part of the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park and offers stunning valleys, forested mountains, and charming rural towns. The gorge is famous for its breathtaking autumn foliage that explodes in vibrant shades of yellow, brown, orange, and red from early to mid-November.
Shōsenkyō Gorge as a whole is a beautiful and serene destination, easily accessed from Kofu. We arrived at Shōsenkyō Taki Ue on the local bus (IC card accepted) and commenced our adventure, starting with the ropeway, having lunch at a local soba shop and descending on foot through the gorge itself to the Greenline Shōsenkyō bus stop. The gorge hosts amazing scenery including Senga (Sengataki) Falls and a rushing river which runs parallel to the stone walkway. There is no entry fee required here, simply follow the path until you wish to exit. The route we took is fairly easy, and being downhill would be suitable for younger children.

Came for photos in early Nov. There's enough red and yellow foliage for good pictures but it's probably more colorful in mid November I'd think.
There are several hiking options depending on how much time you have. We went with the faster route and also took the cable car to the summit. It was a pretty easy walk with lots of opportunities for photos. Hiking shoes are not necessary (maybe in the winter though).
There are also several food shops, souvenir shops and vending machines along the way, so you don't need to take a bunch of food and drink with you if you don't want to.
For our group of 4, it was roughly the same price taking the bus vs taxi. The taxi is slightly less rough than the bus if someone is prone to car sickness.
Mewslie — Google review
Really nice hiking area with multiple lots of free parking. All of the main paths are paved so it is more like a walk rather than a hike. Their are also vending machines, restrooms and food stalls along the path. Best to arrive in the morning to beat most of the crowds.
Also, there is a lot of construction on the way up and down the mountain, just be prepared.
I went on a rainy day in mid November, which is the perfect time to go because the autumn maple leaves look amazing! The hike could have been marked better with more English assistance, but otherwise it was pretty easy. The green line bus is reasonably priced, but comes about once an hour, so be careful about your return. I would highly recommend this hike!

Shosenkyo is a nice place for hiking because its mountain view is awesome. I recommend people who are planning to go to Kofu area to go Shosenkyo. For people who are planning to go, I recommended them to check which bus lines are available because some bus lines are closed during the winter time.

Takeda Shrine is a Shinto shrine that boasts of a remarkable display of Takeda weapons and fall foliage. This historical attraction is surrounded by moats and features an array of Shingen theme charms, katana swords, kabutos helmets, scrolls, and banners used in battle. Visitors are treated to the beauty of the lush surroundings any time of day while enjoying the traditional hostels or watching a Noh stage performance.
I recently visited Takeda Shrine, and it exceeded all my expectations! If you're a Japan history buff like me, this place is a must-visit. Nestled in a serene setting, Takeda Shrine offers a fascinating journey into the rich history of the Takeda clan, particularly during the reign of Takeda Shingen.
The highlight for history enthusiasts is undoubtedly the museum dedicated to the Takeda clan. It provides an in-depth look into the life and times of Takeda Shingen, showcasing artifacts, relics, and informative displays that transport you back to that era. The attention to detail is commendable, making it a truly immersive experience.
The serene surroundings also make it a peaceful escape for families looking to enjoy some quality time together.

Unfortunately the Shingen museum was closed due some renovations, but artifacts site was open and there were plenty of historic displays including katanas, kabutos, scrolls, and banner used in battle.

Kōfu Castle Ruins, located in Maizuru Castle Park, is the remains of a 16th-century hilltop castle built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and later fortified by Tokugawa Ieyasu. It is one of the most important castles in the Kanto area and offers a unique view of Mt. Fuji in the background. While the castle itself has been restored, its surrounding stone walls are over 400 years old and designated as a historic site.
Walking towards the castle grounds, I glanced backwards and caught a glimpse of a mountain peak through the clouds in the distance. Could it really be? My pace increased as I entered the well-kept grounds and climbed the stone steps making my way to the viewing platform. The last step had arrived and the clouds began to clear. And just like that, the elusive Fujisan appeared. Whilst I’ve seen Fuji from afar, seeing it that bit closer is a bit more special. Pleasant place to visit all around, beautiful gardens and peaceful atmosphere. If only someone would knock down that inconveniently placed metal tower…
Life's Abroad — Google review
A pretty good place to take a walk and get a great view of the city. The main keep was destroyed long ago, but many of the walls and a few towers remain. Not as good as a proper castle like Matsumoto or Himeji, but better than other castle ruins like Utsunomiya or Tottori. Located just a couple minutes from Kofu station, there’s no reason not to go.

The Toi Gold Mine, a centuries-old historic site, offers an exciting adventure for families with children. Although the journey to reach this landmark may be long, it is worth visiting. Visitors can explore tunnels and participate in panning experiences while admiring a vast gold nugget. Additionally, the well-maintained garden and museum within the mine provide interesting English explanations about its history. Most thrillingly, visitors can also pan for their own gold during their visit!
Very interesting, historical and relaxing walk through an old mine. English language on most info signs. Takes about 45 minutes to walk through the mine, and about 45 minutes for the "panning for gold" activity. Tiny gold pieces can be found fairly easily. The park is fun for kids and adults. If you're already in the area, then it's worth the visit.

Interesting history. The mineral mines in this area really made this place prosperous. It was fun learning about the mine and panning for gold. The garden was also very beautiful and picturesque. In May 2022. We had a car to reach the gold mine, so it was convenient. Reaching it by bus might be more complicated as there are a few.
The entry fee was 1000 jpy per person, a bit more if you want to do the gold activity (which seems famous to the kids).
It was interesting, but the visit was quite short. I wouldn't recommend going unless you are in the vicinity.

Creatively illustrated process of gold mining procedures that was carried out in the past here. Apart from the tunnel visit, you also get to experience the process of filtering gold from the ore. It's sort of a back bending activity, however worth trying.

Interesting place to visit, one can understand the gold mining history of Japan from here.
The tunnels created for gold mining is kept and maintained for the visitors to walk around and see.
Through out the tunnel models are displayed explaining the life of miners.
There is a nice museum near, highlights are 12kg and 250kg gold. Visitors can touch and lift it(if you are strong enough).
Another attraction is the gold panning, at an extra cost we can try out luck in gold panning at the area provided near the gift shop.
One can get some interesting Omiyage from the gift shop here.
Overall a good experience worth the time for kids and adults.

It is located in a rural area called Toi in the west Izu area. This place has historic importance of once being the second most productive gold mine in Japan. The tour preserves the history of mining and difficulties involved for the labourer working under the ground which had been subjected to extreme conditions of seepage of hot springs and hot lack of oxygen. The story is told with the help of mechanically animated models. They also have a gold panning experience which allows you to pan as much of gold as you want in 30 mins.
Chaitanya Krishna — Google review
"mining" gold is kind of a bit too short. They also use fake flowers for their "gods". It's very interesting to hold the world's biggest gold bar. 1000yen for the golden ice cream. Please buy from the grandma who is selling her handmade crafts within the Toi Gold Mine.
Ohayō Phil — Google review
It’s quite a journey to get there, but good fun for kids. There’s a large, well-maintained garden, interesting museum in the original mine (with English explanations) and a chance to pan for your own gold.

The bronze statue of Takeda Shingen in front of JR Kofu Station is a tourist spot that many tourists visit as a symbol of Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
A majestic appearance befitting the strongest commander of the Sengoku period. The 3.1m high brave statue is even more powerful when viewed from below.
In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom on both sides of the bronze statue, and the contrast with Shingen, who has a stately atmosphere, is beautiful, making it a perfect spot for taking commemorative photos. At the time of its installation, there was an unprecedented “Sengoku military commander boom” caused by the NHK Taiga drama “Ten to Chi to”.
The Shingen-ko Festival held on the day of the statue's unveiling ceremony is said to attract as many as 150,000 tourists from inside and outside the prefecture.
The statue is modeled after the battle of Kawanakajima, with a strategist in his right hand and a rosary in his left hand. You can see the majestic appearance befitting a great commander, who manipulated the Koshu army corps, which was proud of its elite during the Sengoku period, as he wished.

The information board had the following information:
Lord Takeda Shingen (Takeda Daizendayu Shinanokami Shingen)
November 3rd, 1521 - April 12th, 1573
Takeda Shingen was born as the eldest son of Nobutora Takeda and his wife Oi. When he became an adult, he took the name Harunobu, but Shingen, as he is generally known, is his Buddhist name.
In Tenbun 10 (1541), he exiled his father Nobutora to Suruga and became the guardian of Kai, conquered Shinano, opposed Uesugi Kenshin, and fought five battles at Kawanakajima.
Afterwards, he joined forces with Shogun Yoshiaki Ashikaga and other anti-Oda Nobunaga forces, led the Kai corps, which was hailed as the strongest in the Sengoku period, and plotted to advance into Kyoto, defeating Tokugawa Ieyasu at Mikatagahara. Tensho 1 (1573)
He became ill during the capture of Noda Castle in Mikawa. I handed it over at my workplace in Ina, Shinano Province, on my way back to Japan. He passed away at the age of fifty-three. Mourning was kept secret for three years, and a funeral was held at Erin-ji Temple in 1983.
He displayed outstanding skills as a civil politician and devoted himself to the management of his territory, including the enactment of the Koshu Act and the flood control work known as the Shingen Embankment.

It's a good exercise, and you can also enjoy nature's forest bathing. Makes me want to ring the bell.
If the sky is clear, you can even see Mt. Fuji and the Alps.
The souvenir shop is also interesting. Restrooms are also available.

The view of Mt. Fuji from Suruga Bay is spectacular 😊
I'll just walk to the bell! Think of it as part of the fun 😉
I believe there is a similar bell in Guam 😊

場所の名前は良く聞きますが初めて訪れました。晴れた日の美しさは伊豆観光の中では抜群です。

I've heard the name of the place a lot, but this was my first time visiting there. The beauty on a sunny day is outstanding among Izu sightseeing.

It may not be a good place for me as I think it's good to be single for the rest of my life, but I visited because the scenery looked nice (lol)
There were some clouds, but it was sunny so I was able to see Mt. Fuji👍
The view is very nice
You can walk along the promenade to Koibito Misaki and enjoy forest bathing.
There were stairs and the slope was tough so I was drenched in sweat (lol)
Be careful of wild boars and deer after sunset.
The scenery I saw after walking through all the trouble is very nice 👍
