(Translated by Google) When I checked the weather forecast, the weather was often not good, so I often put off climbing mountains. On the fourth day of my mountain climbing trip in mid-July, I decided to climb the mountain as it was the only chance of sunshine while the weather on other mountains was poor.
We started climbing around 9 o'clock. A relatively elderly climber I greeted at the parking lot said he would wait about 30 minutes for his friends to arrive before leaving. The course time is short and it is an easy-going mountain that is not much different from Mt. Amagi. It was also good that, unlike the previous day, the temperature was reminiscent of the slightly cooler period before summer.
I chose a circular route that went via Mt. Nekodake. The first part of the trail is a staircase that goes up the side of a farm, and you can look down on the parking lot behind you. From the middle, you enter a shallow forest, and there are few trees near the summit of Mt. Nekodake, so the view is good. When we arrived, it was gasy and cloudy in all directions, but the visibility to the north soon improved. The neighboring Mt. Shiayama can only be seen faintly from time to time.
When I asked a climber who was taking the opposite route to Mt. Shia about Mt. Shia, he told me that the road between Mt. Nekodake and Mt. Nekodake had not dried out from the rain the other day and the footing was not good. It had been cloudy since the morning, so the view from the top of the mountain was not good. Judging from the sky, it doesn't look like it's going to clear up today.
From Mt. Nekodake, go down a little. Several times I could see the entire view of Mt. Shia from a vantage point. The return trip took me into the forest, but it felt like a unique path that forced me to walk over tree roots. It was quite wet so it was slippery. I made the right choice by choosing a course that would not be used as a downhill route.
The clouds had not cleared and we were unable to see far into the distance from the summit of Mt. Should I be okay with just being able to see a little bit of the foot of the mountain?
As soon as I started descending, I passed the climber I had greeted before I left. It seemed like they were able to meet up with their friends, so the two of them were together. What I didn't expect was that my friend was a young woman.
There was a branch in the middle of the boardwalk, but the route was slightly different from the map I was using, so I was confused. It was written that they were merging ahead, so I started down, but I started to get a little worried about the direction I was going, so I headed back up.
There are many open sections descending from Mt. Shia, and the scenery is not bad. As the altitude decreased, the clouds cleared and the view became better, but the sun became stronger. Around the last farm, the scenery looked like summer, unlike in the morning.
